      One of the things I love most about Fuzz pedals is how great they sound when you dial back the guitar volume knob. You get a full range of variably tamed goodness to take advantage of as you dial up to the fuzz tones they're more famous for.

      Being a Fuzz lover back when there was nothing but hate, I still need to point out that there are some unique and brutal Drives out there, including some Germanium types.Don't let the names distract you.
      I consider the Muff to be more of a Distortion.

    The Supreme pedal is based on the 60's Japanese Superfuzz. After Pete Townsend was first exposed to Jimi Hendrix, he went through a period when he changed to lighter strings and used a Superfuzz, usually with a Gibson SG. The well-known example of that sound is the famous album The Who Live at Leeds.

  • @justinandclaudia
    @justinandclaudia 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think this is the best demo of these pedals because they test them against single coil v humbucker and a clean v dirty amp which makes such a huge difference for fuzz pedals. Thanks guys.

    The Fuzz Supreme is based on The Fuzz Pedal which Pete Townshend used in the 1970's (primarily in the Tommy and Who's Next era), and you can hear that pedal listening to the Live at Leeds album!

      Boost on low gain, scoop on high gain. That's how I felt about it. But I mean there is a reason so many doom metal artists revere the Boss FZ-2, which is based off of the Super Fuzz.

    To me Historically, the sound we were going for in the 70's was the Bender. The idea of sending an already Fuzzy/distorted sound into an already distorted sounding overdriven, amp/friedman was something we just did not do except in a rare situation/experiment. the Beatles and Stones, yardbirds used it for that B uzzsawy sound. Alot of the Live stuff that Hendrix and the Who did back then was simply 100 watt amps. Cranked to all get out. Pete today with hearing has paid the price for it, and would probably tell you so. If someone asked me, what is the sound of an electric guitar, I always send them to the opening lead sound of Paul Revere and the Raiders the song Him or Me, that opening single coil electric clean, most likely small amp, fairly cranked is the Electric sounding guitar. Then of course you get into the Clapton Beano sound. High High Gain stuff came about much Later, think late 80's-90's, that is all a matter of taste, myself I do not like lots of Gain, maybe I am too old to relish it. Well my old 2 cents worth. The Crimson they demoed seemed to have the most versatility. There actually are 3 types of pedal: 1st came the Fuzz, then Distortion and then an Overdrive pedal, and a treble booster pedal seems to do that too, in that type pedal. They all seem to bleed into each other to some degree. And then along came Phase shifters/Flangers/chorus, and Delays. Reverbs tremelos/vibratos built into mid to late 60' amps. Oh and right after the Fuzz came the Wah, Wah pedal. You can tell when certain effects came available in recording history, Wah pedal Cream and Hendrix, Stones only rock and roll album had the birth of Phase shifter, Van Halen 1st albums Flanger effects. You especially hear the birth of Chorus effects in Robert Plants 1st Solo album. I believe Tape delays would have been mid 60's. A Good Electric player plays the Amp as much as he does the Guitar itself, alot of it feeds out his fingers/touch as well. Well only giving personal opinion.

      But meh, not sure about sweating the small details.
      I guess the Marty robins one is more interesting cos the engineer decided to build the first fuzz circuit after that session, whereas Ike and Jackie started Rock’n’Roll (with sister Rosetta Tharpe) instead.

    • @davidburke2132
      @davidburke2132 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There hasn’t been a decrease in VAT on music gear, only on parts of hospitality and tourism industries including on food and non-alcoholic drinks from restaurants, pubs, bars, cafés and other similar premises. So no, there is no VAT reduction applicable on anything that Anderton’s sells.
