I thought he'd be dead any day. I'm so THRILLED to see him sober and doing so well and reconnecting with his family especially. God Bless You brother man.
Why would someone lie about being happy to see someone sober?? You guys are sad. You DO realise indie wrestling exists ands its totally common for the likes of Jake Roberts to be around from time to time? Right? Get your heads out of your asses :)
Snake is such a REAL human, the fact that he had a superstitious fear of becoming his father by holding his kids, is a fear SO insanely accurate in the minds people who were sexually abused by a family member as kids, its so astonishing and awesome that someone of his stature and age is SO open and honest, and IN TOUCH, many people for many generations, because of THE SNAKE, will no longer feel alone in their feelings and fears from those horrible experiences, so thank you snake :)
Thank DDP for masterminding this whole thing with Snake And Scott Hall! I’m sure through Jakes and Scott’s testimonies; they’ve saved dozens and dozens of lives!
As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I can't say how refreshing it is to see a prominent male figure speak openly about his experience. Every experience is different, but I certainly could relate to a lot of what he had to say.
@@stza16 This was my dad's first JRE Podcast and he kept asking me "Is this Tony guy always on the podcast?" haha, he couldn't stand his voice and adding his irrelevant bits.
Even back in the day in the (then) WWF, his promos were an exceptional part of his character. A good indication of the change between then and now (at least on screen) is the Legends of Wrestling show back in 2000. His fall from 1996 was just sheer vertical.
Yeah I remember I went to one of Piper's comedy shows and his story telling skills were just as amazing. Back in the day when charisma mattered in wrestling.
That part about the kid writing Jake a letter about his father coming home thanks to him instantly brought me to tears!!😟😟 Jake you have earned a place in heaven, live with ease!!!
This was easily one of the best podcasts I've watched to date..full of laughter, darkness and raw emotion. Glad Jake is clean and healthy. I don't watch WWE anymore but he will always be one of my faves. 🐍
Jake is a fantastic talker. His promos were some of the best in the business. The way he never raised his voice, his tone, how dark and eloquent his promos were. He didn't have to yell to make a point, he didn't have Macho Man's energy and raw emotion or Hogan's sheer size and capacity to grandstand, he was just the devil in your ear, making you question yourself, using that almost whisper like voice and almost always making a good point somewhere. He's a seriously unrated talker because how underused he was and because how bad his personal problems got but it's good to see him recover and get back up after decades of drugs destroying him.
Very well said my friend. Recovery if people make it is a joy and a blessing to himself and many many around him. Recovery touches so many and not just the person in recovery.
You know what's amazing about him. Is that his voice is clearly damaged from drug use and smoking, his brain also has to be significantly damaged.....but after all that, and even at 63, he is still compelling and can hold his own on JRE
This has got to be one of the best podcasts I’ve ever watched/listened to! Love you Jake the Snake♥️ glad you’re still here...you’re one of my favorites.

These interviews and out-of-ring stories from old school WWF superstars are great. But, this interview was FANTASTIC ..... the open dialogue, the honesty, the courage, etc. I was a fan of Jake the Snake before ........ but NOW? ..... MAD RESPECT!!!!!
Yes, he was so annoying. And I had a difficult time believing that he was old enough to have seen Jake wrestle at that time. Perhaps it is a cross over to generations attempt to introduce Jake to much younger people. Which I would appreciate.
Jaker gave him so much shit throughout the chat too it was cringe. Just little things he'd add in about gayness and shit it's hilarious listening to this little woman trying to man up and contribute
When I was 7 or 8, Jake the Snake was my favorite wrestler by far. I wrote to WWF magazine saying, "I think Jake the Snake is the most scientific wrestler." I found out that letter was published when the guy who owned the corner store showed me the magazine and my little one sentence contribution. It was one of the most exciting moments of my childhood. He then put four quarters in the Contra arcade machine that lived near the door in that place and I floated on cloud nine until my lives ran out. I didn't beat Contra that day, but I did later on, and for anyone trying to accomplish the same thing, stick with that spread gun, she's all you need.
He was also my favorite wrestler when I was that age. My dad took me to see him in Chicago back in the 80s. He walked down the aisle just a few feet in front of us. I was completely starstruck! If I'm remembering correctly, the extra lives code for Contra on the NES was: up up down down left right left right A B A start. That was over 30 years ago. Yet, I can't remember what I had for lunch 2 days ago.
One of the best Rogan podcasts I've ever seen. Jake is amazing, as I'm seeing a guy I loved to watch as a kid and know about his massive struggles with "life". He can get me laughing out loud and then put into words things that I've struggled with about self esteem and addiction. It's very encouraging to see a healthy Jake the Snake who hasn't skipped a beat being sober. It should make many people want to be better models of themselves.
Poor Jake...tortured youth including abuse, guilt and shame....glad he got the help from Diamond Dallas Page and others to get his life in order and back again! Enjoyed his great stories too... Now he’s helping others worse off...way to go Jake! Your my hero man and one of the best Heel Wrestlers ever and a personal favourite!
This is the first time I've ever heard someone be so frank about the deep hole of addiction to the point I've had to stop the video and think to myself for a moment. Jake would be very successful talking on the university with a talk exactly like this one. Best episode of JRE and it's not close.
God bless you, Jake. You were one of my favorite wrestlers. I had no idea of the hell you were made to go through as a kid. It made me think of my childhood and the reasons I was on drugs and drinking so much. I'm glad you have found peace at last.
"The disease will let you sit a place for 3 or 4 months and not even touch you... But it's over there doing push-ups in the corner" Holy shit, he really understands addiction; I can relate
Tezza Bhoy when Dallas page was on the podcast Joe said he wants him on and Dallas said he can set that up no problem so I’m guessing that’ll happen eventually
Yeah, I hope Joe gets more wrestlers on the show. Would be fun to have guys like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Shawn Michaels etc. come on and tell some stories. All pro wrestlers got a ton of great stories.
Jesus. I was laughing till I cried and then crying some more. His story is inspirational on a level that I've not heard on a long time. Watching him as an absolutely terrifying heel in wrestling as a child, having seen him in so many videos being completely fucked up, to seeing him clear eyed and sober is so incredible. Hearing about how he's had so many people step in and step up for him, and him acknowledging every slip he's had and hold himself accountable... That's a fucking man there. It's heartbreaking, but not. He's amazing.
Greatest wrestler of all time, in my opinion. He’s sadly missed. It’s a shame he became such a recluse towards the end of his life. Macho Man really lived his gimmick. He would have had so many cool stories to tell, not to mention all the knowledge he could have imparted on the younger generation of wrestlers. I’m glad he spent the last year of his life in happiness with his childhood sweetheart, though. Just wish it could’ve lasted longer for them.
I like Jake's voice and how it always trails off into a whisper. It’s kind of soothing. The voice of a man who has lived and experienced beyond his years.
People like jake are real deal. They make everyone seem like they've never lived at all. Jake used to live 40 miles from my hometown in Nebraska. He was doing real bad. I saw him a few times. I'm really glad to see he got better and hear his stories. Amazing guy with a huge heart.
Most 40 year old guys like myself grew up with "the snake" in our houses every weekend. Nice too see something good happen to a person that brought us a lot of joy. Lets get a SNAKE PODCAST!!! First guest, The Mangina
Jake has that old truck driver humor and Joe is more new slightly hipster humor. Joe is a fairly liberal progressive type of man and Jake is a testosterone fuel man's man lol.
cory eck lol Joe has just as much testosterone and is just as much a manly man as Jake is. The only dif is that Jake is older, had more life experiences , and due to that is able to really have “I’m gonna do me and if you don’t like it then fuck off” attitude. Both super cool dudes that I would love to have a beer with, or take a hunting trip with.
This is the greatest interview I've ever seen, hands down. No sports BS about being famous or rich, just a man trying to makeup for stuff done to him and he's done. Thank you for this one
I don’t usually comment on Rogans podcasts, but this was one of the best shows every. Those wrestlers went through hell and back. The stories this man has is crazy. His past Jesus Christ. Great show.
powerful chat.... At times, after my second heart attack before 40yo and back on the grog and weed, I also was angry that I woke up some mornings.. great example of a dude turning it around and not costing his loved ones the sadness that his death would have provoked..
It's amazing how Jake can be talking about dark disturbing real shit one second, then has me dying laughing the next. What a compelling storyteller. Get this man a fn podcast!
Being an survivor of addiction it’s showed me my path is still positive I love seeing this. I hope I can talk about my dark past as honestly as he does one day.

One of the best Joe Rogan podcasts I've heard. Amazing listen.....
Jake Roberts = Legend
Endlessly fascinating. Jake was probably the most interesting character I watched while growing up. This is such a great interview.
His impersonation of Macho man had me rolling!!
Kody Arocho he already sounds like him
And Jake was just in the locker room behaving himself smh
MAybe it has and maybe it hasnt
I was around Jake a little while in 2008 trying to make it on the indies. I liked him a lot but he was unpredictable and when he got sauced and he scared me in those situations. I thought he'd be dead any day. I'm so THRILLED to see him sober and doing so well and reconnecting with his family especially. God Bless You brother man.
never happened.
Thats hot

Best Macho Man Randy Savage impression ever.
The best lmao
Bruce Pritchard does a pretty amazy one too
You trying to get my intercontinental heavyweight championship?
Dan Soder does the best impressions of Macho
Jake sounds more macho man than macho man did lol...
My God that's got to be one of the best Macho Man Impressions I've ever heard lol. Awesome to see Jake so full of life.
It's a toss up between him and Dan Soder. 🙌 Crackle crackle!
I could listen to Jake tell stories all day long. An incredible story by master story teller.
This was brutal listening to all that he's been through. I'm grateful to hear this tale.
This was easily one of the best podcasts I've watched to date..full of laughter, darkness and raw emotion.
Glad Jake is clean and healthy. I don't watch WWE anymore but he will always be one of my faves. 🐍
It was good cause Joe Rogan actually let the guest talk.
@@jonw8697 Gave Jake all the time in the world to tell his life story which was ace
Yes, his promo and in ring psychology is 2nd to none.
Very well said my friend. Recovery if people make it is a joy and a blessing to himself and many many around him. Recovery touches so many and not just the person in recovery.
Imo, the best promo was his because it was poetic, highly intriguing and believable.
You know what's amazing about him. Is that his voice is clearly damaged from drug use and smoking, his brain also has to be significantly damaged.....but after all that, and even at 63, he is still compelling and can hold his own on JRE
So powerful - thanks Joe for sitting back and just letting Jake flow.
This has got to be one of the best podcasts I’ve ever watched/listened to! Love you Jake the Snake♥️ glad you’re still here...you’re one of my favorites.
Jake Roberts is such a fabulous storyteller. This was without any doubt one of the most entertaining guests I have ever listened on Joes show. Jake is pure entertainment. I could listen to this man all day long.
The best podcast I’ve ever seen hands down.

Jake "The Snake" Roberts is a legend, epic stories. This was one of the best episode on JRE! 👏
I haven’t watched a podcast over 1 hour in its entirety in over 5 years. I was literally glued to my computer screen listening to Jake. This man is amazing
Agreed
Bro just use your phone and play the podcast while doing something productive. Taking notes... washing dishes... jogging on a treadmill...

Probably the very best interview ever on Rogan. I'm like you - can often only listen to about 40 mins of a podcast (or in chunks) but this..... Start to finish and could not take my hears away. Fair fucks to Jake and ALL hail DDP. The man is literally a verifiable life saver
I have no words to describe this podcast. This is motivating me to do better and be better. Thanks for this podcast

Watch The 🐍's Documentary, it's even better. DDP is a Godsend. He saved Jake and Razor Ramon from certain death. You will cry, I garentee it, happy tears tho. I give it 12 out of 10 🌟's.
Christopher Price he definitely reads comments lol
These interviews and out-of-ring stories from old school WWF superstars are great.
But, this interview was FANTASTIC ..... the open dialogue, the honesty, the courage, etc.
I was a fan of Jake the Snake before ........ but NOW? ..... MAD RESPECT!!!!!
Tony is like a little kid sitting in on an adult conversation 😂😂
Yes, he was so annoying. And I had a difficult time believing that he was old enough to have seen Jake wrestle at that time. Perhaps it is a cross over to generations attempt to introduce Jake to much younger people. Which I would appreciate.
Why is he even in this podcast? what's the reason behind having him there?? because he's a fan?
Jaker gave him so much shit throughout the chat too it was cringe. Just little things he'd add in about gayness and shit it's hilarious listening to this little woman trying to man up and contribute
When The Snake speaks, you better fucking sit and listen, kids.
@@ethanallen223 what so guys can't be feminine, fuck off, some of the campiest motherfuckers ever are legends
If I'm remembering correctly, the extra lives code for Contra on the NES was:
up up down down left right left right A B A start. That was over 30 years ago. Yet, I can't remember what I had for lunch 2 days ago.
Idk if you just messing with us or what but that was fucking eloquent
What year and what's your name?
Not likely that you write so well AND telling the truth, but, good story bro.
That's the stuff nostalgia aspires to be!
I agree, his take on addiction is true
I love how joe is respectful not drinking or smoking during this podcast for jake
"I'm in the locker room behaving myself" is the best opener I've ever heard lmao
Yeah just washing the blackboard
God bless you, Jake. You were one of my favorite wrestlers. I had no idea of the hell you were made to go through as a kid. It made me think of my childhood and the reasons I was on drugs and drinking so much. I'm glad you have found peace at last.
"The disease will let you sit a place for 3 or 4 months and not even touch you... But it's over there doing push-ups in the corner"

Jake's imitation of Macho Man is one of the most hilarious things I've heard in a long time.. I just lost it in laughter.
Whenever I start feeling like my life is tough, I'm going to listen to this show. God damn this guy went through some heavy shit!

5/20/2019 we lost Macho Man Randy Savage 8 years ago today. I had to come back and listen to this to get that story.
He elbow dropped the four horsemen and saved the world from the rapture that was supposed to happen in 2011
Greatest wrestler of all time, in my opinion.
I am proud to share his name :)
