i recently purchased a B215 but mine has the grey front it has been re-caped and new pinch wheels fitted and i got all the old parts in a bag it also came with the original Revox Manual and it sounds superb even with ordinary ferric tapes using Dolby C it out performs my Sony TC-KA6ES Dolby S Deck, and in my opinion i think it is probably more reliable and better sounding than a Dragon and i got it for a Bargain price of £1,000 UK pounds and i love it and will pass it on to my son when i pass on lol
Nice to hear. I originally paid ~$1800 which is close to 1000 quid. I didn't have to go the extra km but like you I want it to last. They are meant to be very reliable and what I see inside I reckon it's true. One thing is that they need the occasional drop of oil in the mechanism, that's all. I'm not sure which points need the oil but I will find out. Oh, and I suppose the display lamps fail eventually, but as I've found out they are easy to replace, just take off the side cover and pull the lamp pcb. I think mine sounds a little dull (but still good) . I need to use it more to gauge it properly. Re-capping and a cal will surely set it straight.
@@MoggysHiFiAntics the guy i bought it from said that the motors had been oiled with the official Revox oil and i have no reason to think otherwise as the Bag containing all the old caps also had the old rubber pinch rollers, cir-clips and small plastic washers as well so it looks like it had a Proper Major overall
I have owned every Nakamichi, including the Dragon, but the Revox B215 is in my opinion far superior to them all. It is very robust - with those huge flywheels and portrayed a completely rock-stable 10Khz azimuth signal on both channels, with no visible sign of any wow or flutter on the CRO. No other deck performs like this.
I'll probably be passing on my 215's to my son too, as they are actual investments and will appreciate over time. I've owned many 3 head cassette decks and as far as I'm concerned, the Revox B215 is the best. The Dragon is clever as it optimises azimuth playback, but it fell short on its recording capability - frequency just rolled off.

@@sdi1111 Thats my fnding as well and I sold all the other decks. The 215 is the best deck.

too bad a backlight LCD panel isn't available like the B215S.
Yes indeed, but then this has its own charm.
