    I been in construction almost 30 years now and also watched a bunch of new videos for net zero homes. Out of I'd guess 100 or so videos this is the first one I have seen that safety is taken sierious. I just wanted to say thank you to the company doing the install for doing it right and doing it safe!!!! Fall protection while unloading a truck is never seen . I'm glad to see everyone wants to go home alive at the end of the day.

    Does anyone know how the thermal performance of the insulation blocks compares to say 150mm PIR insulation that might normally be laid over a standard beam and block construction?

    Hi we are doing an installation of something very similar. What do you recommend we use to cut the top sheet ? It’s 150mm eps grey topsheet. Using a hand saw can get tiring and takes a lot of time if doing multiple floors.

    I don’t understand why the blocks fit inside the beams ( like block and beam) instead of butting up on top of the beams. This would provide insulation on top of the cold beam?

      I have seen an example where the insulation was formed to cover the beam from the underside.

    Y si hay un incendio?
    La gente se suele quedar acostada en el suelo por recomendación para no aspirar monóxido de carbono.

    • @TheMilbankGroup
      @TheMilbankGroup  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hola Dra. Quím. Nora Di Giorno, gracias por tu pregunta!
      La breve respuesta es que nuestro sistema contiene un aditivo ignífugo para no presentar un peligro de incendio indebido cuando se instala correctamente.
      Suministramos WarmFloor Pro como solución térmica solo para plantas bajas. Luego, el piso debe terminarse con un acabado estructural de concreto aplicado sobre el producto. Si se produjera un incendio dentro del edificio, tendría que romper el revestimiento de hormigón antes de que alcanzara la lámina superior de EPS y los paneles de relleno, lo cual es poco probable.
      El único lugar donde está expuesto el EPS es en el vacío debajo del piso y el suelo, y aunque reconocemos que existe un pequeño riesgo de incendio en una subestructura, la probabilidad de que esta zona se encienda es extremadamente improbable.
      Sin embargo, en el improbable caso de que ocurriera un incendio en el vacío de la subestructura, el aditivo asegura que el producto se autoextinguirá tan pronto como se elimine la fuente del incendio.
      ¡Espero que esto ayude!

    Do you also supply foul pipe hangers for the beams? I have a steel reinforced ring beam footing that sits on piles, the ground under the beams might fall away abit, so can't put foul pipes on the ground, they have to be suspended.

    • @TheMilbankGroup
      @TheMilbankGroup  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately we do not and have not heard of anyone opting for that method due to prestressed floors ‘bouncing’ and therefore the pipes/joints moving. If possible, we would suggest calling a groundworker for their opinion. Thanks.

    • @goldenskeptic6309
      @goldenskeptic6309 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheMilbankGroup I never mentioned anything about the floor "bouncing"
      I'm talking about the ground under the beams dropping, or falling away abit, therfore if the foul pipes are on the ground and not suspended, they will sink with the ground under the beams, and you will get back falls in your pipes. By the way, I build houses for a living, and it is pretty much standard practice now.

    • @TheMilbankGroup
      @TheMilbankGroup  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheStressD You can indeed! WarmFloor Pro is completely compatible with underfloor heating, the pipes are simply held in with plastic pegs that are inserted into the EPS TopSheet. The system does require the TopSheet in all scenarios, therefore for underfloor heating;
      - Place beams
      - Add EPS infill blocks
      - Place TopSheet
      - Place underfloor heat pipes and fix to TopSheet.
      - Lay structural concrete topping & reinforcement.

    How does the cost of this system stack up against a traditional beam and concrete block solution?

    • @TheMilbankGroup
      @TheMilbankGroup  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi Carl, great question!
      More often than not, our WarmFloor Pro system is actually less expensive than it’s standard concrete beam & block counterpart. At the time of writing, based on a 50m² area with max centres, using 150mm beams, both Ex-Works costs from Milbank Concrete Products are as follows:
      - Beam and Block (7.3N medium density), including slips: £1,040
      - WarmFloor Pro, including beams, EPS infill blocks, EPS top sheet (75mm) and concrete closure blocks: £997
      In this example, WarmFloor Pro is ~4% lower than an equivalent beam and block floor, while typically providing a U-value of no worse than 0.19W/m²K along with the additional benefit of being slightly quicker and easier to install!
      I hope that helps, but please feel free to contact us directly if you would like more information. You can do so by visiting our website www.milbank.co.uk
      Thank you, MCP Team.

    Is this system fire-resistant?

    • @TheMilbankGroup
      @TheMilbankGroup  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Mahdi, thanks for your question!
      The brief answer is that our system does contain a fire-retardant additive so as not to present an undue fire hazard when installed correctly.
      We supply WarmFloor Pro as a thermal solution for ground floors only. The floor should then be finished with a structural concrete topping applied above the product. If a fire broke out within the building, it would have to breach the concrete topping before it would reach the EPS top sheet and infill panels, which is unlikely.
      The only place where the EPS is exposed is in the void below the floor and ground, and while we acknowledge there is a small risk of a sub-structure fire, the probability of this zone igniting is extremely unlikely.
      However, in the unlikely event that a fire did occur in the sub-structure void, the additive ensures that the product will self-extinguish as soon as the fire source is removed.
      I hope this helps!
