Amazing video! My lamy safari was not working for about a year. I cleaned it multiple times and didn't know the feed was removable till i watched your video! Pen works perfectly now, thanks so much for sharing!
@@futureherberia No!!! So sorry. Take a look at the nib under a magnifier and see if it looks like there is a little space between the tynes. You may have to swap the unit out. So sorry.
You didn’t show how we have to slide the feed correctly back in to the grip. I think it is very tricky to do it in the Lamy Safari. Recently I didn’t do it properly and the feed got struck up and I couldn’t take it out. When I attempted to pull the feed out using pliers I managed to break the feed. The remaining portion is inside the grip. I don’t know how to take out that piece. So I lost the feed as well as the grip. Can anyone tell me how to take out the broken piece?
I have the mango safari too! I love it. You’re right it’s so durable. A great travel pen! I really enjoy your content and can’t wait for the next video! -Simon
Thank you for showing exactly what you do to clean, helpful indeed. I noticed that you do not have many videos about inks, perhaps you may consider making a video explaining which inks you like or dislike and why. There was one video where you said that you do not like Noodler's ink, but you did not go into why that is the case.
Using rubber medical exam gloves can really help in keeping your hands/fingers free of ink and can be used for many cleanings if you are careful when removing them.
I have a Lamy that looks just like yours. It’s plugged and I can’t remove the nib. Should it come off all the Lamy’s or do I maybe have one that I can’t remove the nib? I don’t find any marking that says anything but Lamy. Thank you for your help.
Just gave the nib and the barrel 2 thorough rinses, dried them and everything was fine transitioning from black to green ink. Complete disassembly not required.
Goulet recommends not really messing with the feed unless it’s necessary. A lot of options for it to go wrong. My feed was oriented slightly off on reentry and got jammed. Then snapped clean off trying to pull it out. Clearly I learned my lesson but just a word of warning for any other new people trying this. Nonetheless a good video even though my experience ended tragically
I just came here to say the same thing - it's perfectly safe apparently to pull the feed out and clean it but with no instruction included on the proper orientation of putting it back in the grip, I managed to wreck two of them - was cleaning two pens at once. Really an expensive mistake I made by following your video assuming that all the relevant details were included.
I love how the nib insert part just slides in and out like nothing. Cuz that is not how it works in real life. Mine did not want to come out and once I got it out was impossible to get back in. So I’m out a $25 pen. If anyone else has this problem of I just got a bad pen?

That is great! So happy to have helped.
@@HemingwayJones Ahh it ended up giving me issues again :( It seems to dry up fairly quickly. Not sure if its the feed or the nib

I enjoyed this video! More than just teaching us how to clean our Lamy safari pen. Your delivery is like poetry.
Thank you very much! I appreciate that!
I found this so relaxing, and interesting. Thank you for teaching me a bit more about the vast world of fountain pens. :)
Thank you so much!
I am delighted with your amazing instructions, enjoyment while cleaning it! Thank you!

Looking forward to a reply as well....
it also holds up well to the occasional chewing on the end if you are considering your next word.
Nice!
It workeeeed 🎉 I didn’t know that I can take the feed out 🙈 Thanks a lot, this is really helpful
Wonderful! My pleasure. All the best! Stop by again soon.
@@HemingwayJones I can’t take mine out!!! 😩
Thank you for the video. I learned today my fine tip does not like this shimmer ink. ❤
My pleasure! It’s true; shimmer likes wider nibs.
Solved a long issue I had with my Lamy. Thanks!!!
Happy that I could help!

Thanks so much for the suggestion. I agree. I do not address inks as much as I should. I’ll address that. Thanks so much for the suggestion.
Great, clear instructions. Thank you.
Thank you!
Good instructional video that I found very enjoyable. Many thanks.
Thank you, David. Lovely hearing from you. Stay well.

Inky hands are OK. They are great for loosening tight parts. Thank!

It should just slide right out. It shouldn’t be difficult.
Thanks for this. I just got my Lamy Safari today and this video will be helpful later on. On another note, what size nib are you using? 1.1? or 1.5?
My Pleasure. This is a 1.1. It’s brilliant. Totally worth the $13 or however much it is. Thanks again.

Great video but my nib and feed is stuck and i do not know what i should do i tried the tape method but it is not working
Wow! That is stuck. Have you tried a latex glove. I would also soak it first for a day or so. So sorry.
@@HemingwayJones Oh alright thank you! no need to apologies.
I havethe same Mango pen! my first fountain
Nice!
Very helpful. Thanks.
My pleasure!
Excelent, thanks
Thank you!
I can’t get the feed out of the casing. Jammed tight!
Have you tried a bit of latex? As for a rubber glove?
@@HemingwayJones Yes. No worries, I tried soaking the whole lower part in water over night and that cleared the blockage in the feed anyway. 😁

Vert satisfying
Thank you!
if no tool is handy, tape on the nib is an easy way to remove it.
Very clever indeed. Thank you.
You are very welcome. Thanks goes to Brian Goulet of Goulet Pens.
Got to be careful not to rinse nib and feed in the sink..if it slips you've had it.
Bro you wasted too much water
I need to update this. I do things slightly differently now.
Exactly...keep it soaked in mug of warm water for 10 minutes and one more in another mug and you'll be done.No need for so much water
