The lands entering untapped is a grave sin, but no one seems to talk about the card's greatest crime. How am I supposed to bolt the bird if it has 4 toughness WotC?!?!?

Me when I try to Scorching Shot Nadu, triggering Nadu to put a Forest on the battlefield untapped, which then allows my opponent to cast Tamiyo's Safekeeping and protect Nadu. Yeah, I'm over this bird already
Man, when I first read Nadu I thought he was bustedly powerful. And that was me assuming the land entered tapped, because every other spell/ability seems to do that. Then I re-read Nadu and did a spit take.

I didn't realize we didn't have any 0-mana equipment on Arena. It's crazy how broken he seems even without having that.
We have a total of ONE! But it's limited to equipping once a turn.

I think people concede to Nadu not so much because of the power level but because of how long each turn takes waiting for the Nadu player to target every creature, every turn and storming off to create more creatures to target and so on
Part of that is on WOTC. There is a lot they can do to speed things up such as suggesting targets and improving the fetch land experience. Like just target the only available target and ask if it's okay. It turns moving and clicking into space bar presses.
I concede to Nadu because I play for fun, and there's really nothing fun about a commander that ramps as hard as this and is generally impossible to interact with.
You know what would have helped that a lot?
“Whenever a creature you control is targeted do the thing” and not being something granted to all your creatures

Well - perhaps going for non-targeting removal would work. Liliana of the Veil as the commander - maybe.. But there's the pairing system that cares about the commander and cards in the deck - not sure if you'd met Nadu playing Liliana or not -- probably some tho -- AFAIK it also cares about your general performance - not just the deck..
@@Jawzah sure, it's deck weight that's important and I specifically run suboptimal cards to put me lower in the queue so I can just sit back and enjoy playing a fun game of magic.
However since Nadu is a new commander, he and his cards have no deck weight and are thus put against decks of much lower power. His main combo pieces, Unctus and Shuko are very low weight and I can't remember more but I don't really care. He should be banned.
Try boardwiping or casting Lilli against a Nadu, go on. I wonder what will happen in Simic colours 🙂

To everyone who keeps whining about Alchemy cards being pushed/busted, I present to you... This nonsense right here.
Modern Horizons is basically Alchemy.
I just don't like there being cards that don't have paper equivalents. I only have like three cards that I've used from alchemy, most notably bank job because it just pairs too damn good with Prosper.
But also fuck heist.
I'm not sure if I'm disappointed or relieved that MH3 is not legal for alchemy format.. Bit of both I guess. Could be fun to go nonsense vs nonsense..
I like the alchemy fromat being bit less deep than standard with the shorter rotation and I also like most of the alchemy rebalances and LotR set too.. Could we have Alchemy without alchemy cards.. (Like the comic Garfield without Garfield... About the lasagna loving orange feline beast - with the cat removed - not about Richard Garfield..)

I hate that all new commanders, the extremely pushed and the just-a-bit-pushed alike, start off at the baseline queue. Every new set my janky old commanders have to face this stuff and I just turn into one of those auto-conceders for a bit
I got the MH3 decks for commander yesterday in the mail. Inside the bonus sample packs they come with I pulled the alt art Nadu and a full art Springheart nantucko. Now I simply must build him in paper. He’ll catch a ban maybe but oh well he was “free” 😅

Great video. I build this deck, especially against the mirror matchup (Confounding Conundrum is great), it feels like arena has a new hellque that's just nadu vs nadu.

With that comedy of errors game (what every Nadu game should be called), I wasn't sure if Amy's maniacal laughter was due to her losing her mind (because of Nadu), or due to her losing her mind (because of sickness).

Imagine scooping this quickly in paper commander every time they sit against an opponent running a commander they don't like.
I used to run Tetsuko Fugitive in a Pramikon deck back when I was still new-ish to Commander. The amount of times I could get this wall tribal pile to be able to swing for wins was funny every single time.

When I play Nadu it’s a toss up on whether I win or not. I’m either going to combo off hard or you are going to dab on the bird so hard that the deck falls apart.
Almost all games I’ve played get into long drawn out staring match’s as we both hope to draw a removal spell.
Nadu? Nahh, don't. Also the amount of concessions tells me even if you don't own the cards needed you could just craft Nadu. Throw any other 99 together and get your daily wins off ppl conceding from just seeing Nadu. Honestly Nadu (and say Voja) are things they could easily fix if they still did the Arena only power balances a la Minsc and Boo, Meathook Massacre etc. No need to ban, just lower Voja's ward to 2 or 1, and make Nadu twice or once per turn total or something, or have the lands enter tapped.
Wuffstadt's reaction is exactly what I do these days when I run into ANOTHER nadu. It's extremely boring to play against, and worse when the player doesn't know how to use it and turns take even longer.

@@RG-wv3gt I don’t really play casual anymore. I’m at the age where I’d rather play 4 games in 1 hour than 1 game that hopefully ends in an hour lol. My last casual game that made me puke because of how long it took to end was 2+ hours long.

What baffles me is how this thing hasn't been sent into Hell Queue yet. Sure, some Commanders are "kill on sight", but few (if any) give you so much value for being a target. Worst case scenario, you go down a card while the opponent goes even. The "triggers _only_ *twice* per turn" line sounds like a mock and may as well not be there.

I pulled a Nadu in my pre-release (alongside the cards I actually wanted, Tamiyo and Genku). He definitely won me a few games in pre-release, but I'm not doing anything broken with him in Commander- just slotting him in to my Ivy combat tricks/mutate deck. Will he catch some removal spells? I sure hope so! Ivy could use someone to take the heat off her back and a value engine scares people more than a Big Stompy Fairy

amazing intro, I have played against so many of these decks recently, and its either annoying as hell or the quit straight away, worse it got was with a poq and a bristling bill. It seems fun to play but can be miserable to play against 😂

IMO Nadu should be rebalanced in brawl. There were so many ways this card could have been more balanced.
- make it a 2/2 rather than a 3/4
- make the ability trigger once per turn
-make the ability only work for Nadu rather than all creatures
-make the land come in untapped
-make land come into play once per turn.
There are so many ways to make this card okay and they just didn't
I'm going to assume you were being sarcastic about Nadu not needing a ban or a rework because holy hell this card is insane. Theres no way to interact with him outside of counterspells or boardwipes and simic has every answer under the sun for those kinds of spells. Hell if youre playing blue and they search out a cavern of souls its just over. Play white and they search out plaza of heroes.
The only counterplay I've found is playing teferi, time raveler to stop them playing on my turn so I can swords the bird, but even by then they've ramped to the moon and can do it all again.

The Historic Brawl queue is entirely this bird right now hah. In my unofficial analysis I think this is the most egregious commander ever printed on Arena. I'm including everything from Rusko, Oko, Ragavan, Atraxa, Grenzo, to everything in between. I really don't understand Wizards obsession with destroying this format / rant over..

I main a "blow everything up on the board" deck. You can try and use the ability, but you only have until my turn to do it. That card is going to be costing you a ton of mana come end game.
I'm playing a sealed 1k that costs $96. My round 1 opponent played that goddamn bird both games on curve. My round 2 opponent played it game 1 on curve, missed his 3rd drop and played it turn 4 game 2, played it game 3 on curve. Fuck that bird. Me and that bird ain't dogs.

I built Coram the Undertaker day one of arena release and can't even tell if he's any good because most of my games are against this dumb commander. Nothing more satisfying than trying to hit him with a removal spell only for him to pull an untapped land to cast safekeeping/shore up etc. Good job wizards.

@@Amazonian unfortunately WotC doesn’t care about our format that much 😢 I just would’ve thought they could emergency ban. The win rates on Nadu are insane though in EDH formats. I forget the DC one but in the last major cEDH format it won and was 3/4 in the top 4

Phyrexian blue. 100% of cards printed with that mana cost are banned in Modern and Legacy.

Hot Take: Nadu and Oko did nothing wrong. Brawl is full of removal Nadu kinda answers that. It's easy to "ban-wagon" on a card. I've seen worse. (like arena only cards)
for real deck has a roughly 60% + win rate atraxa and etali sat around 80% but this bird needs to be banned??? ppl just hate simic

I played against Nadu 3 times and lost only once, and I still feel like he is full of bs.
Saying his ability is "anti-removal" really undersells it when the strategy is to target your own creatures as much as you can to just drown your opponent in value. Of course, it is anti-removal AS WELL, since it turns any non-edict/boardwipe into a 2-for-1, AND you could get an uptapped land so you can counter the same removal that triggered the ability.
The fact he is a a draw and ramp engine, bringing lands untapped, putting cards in hand instead of drawing (can't be affected by Smothering Tithe effects), triggers off your spells, your opponent's spells, as well as easily repeatable abilities, spreads the ability to all creatures (even tokens), can trigger each turn per creature TWICE, is supported by very good cards is those colors, and is STILL a 3 mana 3/4 with flying that can kick ass in its own.
I'm not saying it should get banned at all, but as it is now, this card is not okay.
Yeah, especially since we have alchemy cards. Grenzo anyone? Super feels bad when each turn your opponent grabs your powerful stuff and plays it against you for free
