New to the channel? I do Let's Play videos -- these are like walkthrough guides of gameplay with continuous English commentary trying to explain my decisions and what strategy I use. If you're looking for hacks or cheats, you're in the wrong place!
Would love an act2 guide for this, this video was super concise and clear, and helped me progress through the early honour mode well.
Yeah seconded. This helps alot with plotting stuff out.
THIS!!!
Shadowheart has a 60% chance to make him drop the Everburn Blade with Command on Honor Mode. With 2 slots, it’s well worth a reset or two
I’ve done it successfully 4 times now. I make a custom character with command and pretty much always get it. Surviving the around mountain pass is where I keep dying
In addition to this if karlach can land a pommel strike, the dazed status effect takes away the bonus to ac from dexterity. Giving you an 80% chance for drop.
@@crowenoneofyabeeswax4299Karlach isn’t in the ship tho?
@@padawanty1042 you can play as her origin
Lowkey crazy that he acts like its a hard drop
A guide on what to do and what path to take without spoiling the changes of honour mode is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Not sure if anyone else has said this but I really appreciate you having a written guide inside your description. It really helps me keep my pace and recheck if I miss anything! Thank you for your work! X3 It's been helpful so far and the tips are really keeping my lovelies alive!
You can skip the Intellect devourers fight after landing on the beach by jumping up a few times before their area. This way you can collect gale and Astarion before doing them. Way safer.
Came to say this!
Only if your character can make the jumps. Mine couldn't, I forget if shadowheart can or not
@@johnkessler63 I'm 99% sure you can do the jumps even with 8 strength, you probably missed a step somewhere.
@@Nooctaeyes, you can at 8 strength, can confirm. Just keep aiming your jump from the correct rocks and you’ll make it 👍
For the underdark it's worth talking to Glut in the myconid colony and having him join your party since he can use zombie spores to resurrect a minotaur that was killed at the Selune outpost for two strong companions. Makes the hook horror fight MUCH easier. Also if your minotaur goes down in that fight like mine did, then Glut can use the spores on a hook horror.
This tip helped me a lot, the summoned hook horror does nice damage! Thanks
I get him to raise the Burlette. So fun.
I climbed the wall before the intellectual devourers to get access to Asterian, Gale, and Lae'zel before that fight.
Just in case
considering how many times those damned things killed me, I really should have done that too.
Totally not why I'm here or anything lol that would be silly ...
Best act 1 guide there is. We need an act 2 and 3!
Make an act II guide! You’re so good! Been watching your other vids as well. I think this is great content! Very thorough man! Keep it up!
This was a really well done video. Thank you! If you make an Act 2 version I'm sure you'll get lots of views.
Love the video! A lot of great tips. I wanted to add if you do drop the stone down on the bandits it does put the main group in the room with the flame barrel. Just drop the stone, killing two members for the first fight right away, kill the remaining two. Then use charisma on the guy at the door so he doesn't alert anyone. Kill him then move to the door with the lever. Sneak and open the door and use a fire bolt on the barrel to start combat off. This can usually kill 2 or more bandits. If you need to, you can also use the lever to open and close the door as needed to pick off the stragglers and avoid attacks. This could make both encounters with the bandits a little easier if all goes well (it is still RNG).
Just a quick follow up on this. If someone in your party has minor illusion, you can use it to lure everyone in the room to the barrel to make sure they all take damage when it explodes.
About the wizard tower and Bernard:
Bernard actually drops a very interesting glaive. It is a little dangerous, though, but when equipped with some other items, it can be rather good.
Just started playing through honor mode yesterday and I was looking for a guide to say what order things should be done in.
Pro-tip: Don't die!
Great walkthrough. Nicely condenced but without (to my knowledge) missing any important points. I learned quite a bit, and loved the small bonus tips, e.g. which items to keep an eye out for.
Great guide! I'd love to see an act 2 guide next!
The owl bear fight is what almost ended my honor mode run and brought me to this video 😅 thank god for sanctuary
0:53 - I would suggest climbing the cliff just outside the entrance to the Intellect Devourer fight FIRST. You can pick up Gale, Lae-Zel and Astarion first, THEN deal with the Intellect Devourers with ease
great guide! just a tip i wanna share for the spider matriarch fight -- she'll Gossamer Tomb the first thing that attacks her allies. i made an imp (warlock familiar) get entombed, as it's resistant / immune to the poison damage. helped out loads! especially cause i fucked up killing the eggs
Very helpful. I would love to see a Dark Urge playthrough on the channel!
Super helpful! Please make part 2 and 3!
This is helpful. I barely survived the owl bear at level 4 and its fun was still hostile at the end so I managed to knock it out. I also convinced the Ogres to give me the horn but I really want the headband of Int, my plan is to start a large goblin fight and just let the ogres do it whilst I run away.
A note on the harpies, you can use silence in lower difficulties to create a bubble around the area and nullify their song. Not tested in honour mode though.
Great video Quill! Will come in handy for my next playthrough :)
Glad to hear it!
Great guide! I finally was able to make it through act 1 by simply skipping Grym fight and the Creche final battle (I have lost my run there too many times!). Will probably regret missing some of the loot but oh well 😅
Nice tease of the Minthara camp scene 😄
I followed this guide pretty closely and made it to lv 6 with grym, the gith, ethal, and rosemary monastery left. I have to say that being choosy about fights in the beginning, up until level 4, as well as focusing one enemy at a time in combat, usually the worst, honor mode hasnt been all that difficult thus far. I did have some deathes. I was not prepared for bernard and picked the wrong dialog but i was able to escape and revive at whithers. Then a glitch were 2 companions fell through one of the lifts at the forge, and a lava shove. I found fights up until intimidating but, take your time, level up, get gear, and youll get through acts in no time
Note: Wait till the very end of Act 1 to resolve the Myconid quest Favouring Spaw: Bliss, the reward, gives a 1-6 on all attacks, ST, ability checks, etc. And lasts till long rest, and so worth cashing in the reward right after a long rest, just before you go to the mountain pass and clear the monastery in one go, while the buff is on, which helps as this is a dialogue heavy sequence.
Good video. Great job. I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest for similar videos for the other 2 Acts. Or at least parts of them since they're much bigger.
Decided to jump from balanced to honour for my second playthrough. Thought I was being extra careful, didnt take any fights til lvl 3, and took the two cultists to do the owlbear. Did not expect a second owlbear to come in off the top rope, lol. Took all my speed pots to survive, will def be reading legendary actions ahead of time from now on.
Withers is your trusted friend even in honor mode 👍
Those intelect devouerers right after the ship were rough!
Leave the fight with the intellect devourers in the beginning for later. you can climb up a cliff using jump to get atop a cliff where you can run to get Gale and then Astaria. Then go jump the devourers hitting the oil barrel near them with a fire spell.
You dont have to kill the Hag, the Crache boss or Adamantium robot until you enter the Nightsong part, you can hold all the tough fights until there.
In the Nautiloid, make sure you save Shadowheart, kill the two guys in the chair, and try your absolute best to kill all the little enemies in the final room (don’t just run past the last wave to get to the console). Getting Us makes it a lot easier to kill them all. If you do all that, you walk out with a guaranteed Level 2 which makes the Intellect Devourer fight a lot easier if you’re not climbing the hill to get your other companions first. I’ve missed one of these tasks and walked out with level 1, so make sure you get them all
actually at the start, after picking up Shadowheart, you can skip the Brain fight by jumping up the cliffs near the encounter. Then you can easilly pick up Gale and so on... and turn around for easy XP!!
Although I'm not 100% on when to clear it yet as I'm still to do it myself I'd strongly recommend clearing Bernard as soon as safe to do so. If you're running a cleric/bless user then there's loot here that is invaluable for them and requires an item from Bernard to unlock, this item can be gotten by a Persuasion roll I believe.
The fight with the ruin bandits offers two bits of xp for some reason, first from a successful dialouge check, second if you aggro and kill them before they leave. Dont know any other enemy encounters that allow for that.
Just a interesting tidbit.
Huh, I absolutely crushed the Owlbear at level 3. Never even saw her summon her mate. Moonbeam and command ftw.
As for Auntie Ethel, I had Astarion sneak in with invisibility and I cast Arcane lock on her stairs. It's a hilarious way to stop her from fleeing and absolutely crushing her.
Gunna try this thanks :D
Gale using Magic Missiles and Scorching Ray is quite powerful at the start but really drops off once melee gain multiple attacks at lvl 3
Before you enter the fight eith the intellect devourers you can jump up the cliff to Gale. Works at Str 8
Level 1: 0:28
Level 2: 1:52
Level 3: 3:10
Level 4: 4:30
Level 5: 8:36
Level 6: 9:50
IF you can kill commander Zhalk and the mind flayer in the nautiloid, you reach lvl 3 at Withers, exploring everything since the beggining without even entering the druid grove.
I do this since early access and is tough to kill Zhalk and MF, but it's worth. If you do not lvl 3 at withers, you'll enter the druid grove lvl 3.
This is amazing thank you.
Please do one for act 2 and act 3 or atleast a writeup
I like just slaughtering moonrise towers just because if just single out each acruence you can not make the murchants hostile and it saves your from the big fight. Also you get an early level.
I'm playing honour mode as a lone wolf character. And I used the falling rock to kill some of the people outside the tomb and the people inside didn't seem to be alerted to anything. I wasn't even sure if the rock would hit them because I normally play on balanced and I just walk up and intimidate or kill them.
Absolutely no idea how I did it. But killed Aunt Ethel at level 4 . 🤷🏼♀️
adamantine forge is super easy, barely an inconvinience. You just shoot him down from above - did it solo y-day, it just takes time, nothing more
I beat Bernard on honor mode. The best way to do it is to put sussur blooms on all the other robots. Then attack Bernard by throwing him out the window that should get his hp to 21 or lower he will spend a few turns getting back up to you can beat down the disabled robots who can't ttack due to the sussur blooms.
True. Soul. Nere. 5 honor mode restarts. FIVE. I hate that encounter with my entire heart
Just started my first honor mode run and I’m legit anxious about this one. I did it on first try on tactician, so hoping I can get lucky on my hold person spells again. I typically make a deal with the other duegar beforehand to make the fight more fair. 🤞
Get Up the ladder before the Fight starts...i blocked the entrance with Barrels and Cloud of dagger..works pretty fine
So I killed Nere on turn one on my honor mode run, so my anxiety was a bit unwarranted lol. I may have over prepared a bit but I’ll share what I did. I first cleared the room by taking out all of the duegar using the platform up the ladder to the right of the rubble. Once the room was cleared I blew up the rubble and immediately casted an invisibility potion as Nere came out. Used a scroll of hold person, and it succeeded on the first try, then just wrecked him before he could do anything.
I did not play it yet on honor mode, but when I kill every Duergar/Absolutists in the room first, Nere is a breeze.
@@What_do_I_Think Nere is quite a bit more difficult on honor mode. However, if you clear the duegar beforehand it definitely makes the fight manageable.
Yeah I'd still like to see an Act 2 walk through. I'm struggling against the Avatar of Myrkul.
He does automatically show up. My first playthrough (recently lol) I never found him and he randomly showed up haha
Faster shovel - right outside the door to the crypt (on the ground) past Gimblebock. Handy as there are two dirt piles to dig right near the crypt as well. Sorry, not trying to sound like a "well actually" person.. Just still coming to terms with how many times I walked all the way to the western dirt pile only to walk all the way back to the crypt just to get those nearer piles dug up, ugh! lol
Good advice! I suggested the one I did since I delay going to the Overgrown Ruins in this guide and I thought people might want a shovel before then.
I did the owl bear fight at level 3, it wasn't too bad even with the added twist.
Yea the owlbear fight isn’t hard unless you get bad rolls or one of the people you tell to kill the owlbear start attacking the cub instead.
Comments are good for the soul
I made it all the way to the final battle in Act 3 before losing my latest try.
Picking up Sovereign Glut (at the Myconid Colony) is a great way to assist clearing the Underdark at level 4-5. Have him use Animated Spores on the Minotaur that got roasted in front of the Selunite Outpost, the Buelette, or even on a random Duegar Dwarf corpse outside the village. Glut will stay with your party - even staying in camp - so long as you do not leave the Underdark. The Forge fight can be cheesed from above, using summons to lure Grym to the hammer, and arrows to activate the levers.
Watching this after Ethel obliterated my whole party with ease
I would argue this is the easiest acts to get through you just have to know how to shortcut a majority of it. I would say 80% of this I would counter with other methods but there is a good 20% that I missed out on and some good points to consider so great job! 👍
Not sure if Bug or not but Mol does NOT give you the quest for the Idol after you dealt with korga. The only way it works is : Harpies, accept quest, Bog, korga killed....would love to know why this is the case as it cost me a good ring in my honor run
Mol wants to steal the idol in order to stop the ritual. If you deal with Kagha (either way), she stops the ritual, so Mol has no incentive to steal the idol anymore.
I managed to kill both: Commander Zhalk and the Mindflayer. Yesyes, in Honour Mode. That wasn't the plan 😅 I blocked the two ads / spawning Devils with 2 Chests and - durge-like - a pile of corpses 😅
It was my 3rd or 4th try, because one of them always glitched through the Chests and disrupted me in the first 3 tries. You need to block the most narrow part of the way!
After that, I let command Shadowheart Zhalt to drop his flame sword and he did it first try. Than blew up the room with this violet barrels. So hes and the Mindflayers lifes sunk both, step by step. And I thought: Well, more exp for me! 😊
All survived: me, Shadowheart, Laezel and Us.
Us was most important for me, because I am not really sure, what happens with it, if its dies there. I want it alive!
I want to play a "strange Cat Lady", you know what I mean? 😂 And yes, I use some Mods, to get some extra Cats.🥰🐱😻
So.... can you enter the map with the creche in it and then go back to the map with the druid grove?
Do act 2 version
I’m on act 2 and perma death is hella scary at this point.
Too far too many hours to lose it all.
Could u do a full game guide on honour mode? :(
This actually plays like quite a funny skit, for someone (like me) who's never played, nor wanted to, Baldur's Gate. From that ignorance, it's like you're just making up all these nonsense names. I realize it's not, at all - but it sounds like a brilliant parody. Cheers
Thanks so much
what are astriates? did you mean attributes? 4:20
Where are you getting all the money to buy all this stuff
WTF why did Kagha agro at me for walking over to talk to Netti lol. I had to murder the Grove at level 2! Then Karlach hated me and I had to murder her too 😢 off to a smashing start over here lol. There is no way I’m making it to the end …
OKAY, so anyone who wants to learn from my dumbass mistakes: DONT USE FRIENDS ON “FRIENDS!” That’s right, when it warns, “some people may not like it on higher difficulty settings” what they mean is the entire camp agros and ruins your run 🤪 I had this happen 2 more times before I realized what was happening. Never use Friends on NPC you will be hanging around or you want to have multiple interactions with. I think Friends has 10 rounds, and they roll against it each turn, if they succeed they get ANGRY and start combat. With 10 rounds of length you may end conversations, start walking around, and then they agro, which seems random at that point but is still from Friends you cast half a minute before. Anyways, I hope this helps someone!
Is it easier to side with goblins or druids?
Did you play as cute Lazel in your private singleplayer?
She is so cute.
I've played D&D for literal decades and never cared for the Gith, but BG3 makes them really interesting!
@@quill18 I think it doesn't help in D&D that their story with the astral plane is kind of science fantasy and probably doesn't feel like it fits in a lot of campaigns. I love monks so a githzerai would be a natural fit seemingly, but I struggle finding a compelling backstory in most settings. you don't strictly need one I suppose, I just prefer it
every time i find Flind the gnolls just attack and i dont get a dialogue option ):
He approaches you and engages dialog. I have never investigated why he doesn't, since I'm aware that sometimes he doesn't. I was able to get him to help kill his pack and then eat himself. Clutch
I was able to trigger the dialogue by casting sanctuary on one person, and sending them in alone, flind walked right up to them and started a conversation, and that character was completely safe from damage.
great
Im only a minute and 20 seconds in and you already made two errors. 1. Dont fight the intellect devourers right away. Climb up the little rock arch and get gale and astarion first. You will reach level 2 and have a full party then to fight the devourers. Otherwise your run could end there very easily depending on your class and rolls. 2. Don't do Durge things to Gale. His questline is the easiest way to beat act 3 in honor mode.
🔥
Listen to @quill18 if you want to NOT complete honor mode at all this coming from someone with over 200 hours in honor mode act 1 alone and someone who as only ever played baldurs gate 3 in honor mode
You are telling people what to do as if they've never played the game before... - go here to collect companion A. Dude, people who play honor mode know where companions are. Did you know you can come back to intellect devourer fight when you have more than 1 companion by jumping? You didn't even mention it. You just telling people things they already know. Click bait bs.
keep yourself safe
Have you even finished this game before? you shouldn’t be using the title walkthrough, this is quite clearly a lets play
