  • My favorite era, with my favorite swing of all time, Ben Hogan. He was a driving influence in my career as I sought to understand and execute what i thought he was trying to do. Of course, studying the swings of Snead and Nelson add an immense amount of knowledge to any serious golfer. 21 majors between them, Hogan cut short by a car accident, Nelson retiring at an early age, and Snead falling short at inopportune times. Considering the equipment and balls they were relegated to using, their ball striking expertise is, I think, unparalleled.

Wayne, interesting how the pro swing has changed in some ways between back in Snead, Nelson, and Hogan's day and the present. Didn't Hogan's shoulders turn more level than most modern players? Also, it seems like alot of modern pros get up on their toes at impact.

All born within 7 months of each other, but very different swings and very different career trajectories. In 1945, if you weren't Nelson, Hogan or Snead, you were playing for 4th place on the PGA tour.
