Dear Usman. Thank you for sharing your all this information. According to your experience what would be ideal sized rotor for a 9 meter net head and 1000 liters/second. Greetings from Istanbul Turkey.

Very nice. What's the ideal rpm? Would it be better to choose lower D and haver larger width? Thank you!

Where did you get all of the formulas?

I learned these formulas from HYCON ( Asean Hydro Power Competence Centre Indonesia )

If you can teach yourself, you can read a translation of the original analysis by Googling "Banki Water Turbine". Also look for "Standardization of Cross Flow Turbine Design".

    urpose?
    (b) In a laboratory experiment, water at 39.24 kPa is available to operate a model turbine at
415 rpm. What type of turbine will you choose if it is to have an output power of 30 kW?
    (c) A geometrically similar prototype turbine is required to be designed to produce 20 MW
under a head of 16 m under dynamically similar conditions. At what speed will the
prototype run? What should be the runner diameter ratio between the prototype and model?
What will be the volumetric flowrate through the prototype assuming its efficiency is 90%

where did you get 38 in calculating the speed turbine

38 is the rpm of model turbine, from which all these formula's and calculations are derived.

So with all youre numbers and more water, maybe 1000 lit/sec, a 300mm Runner need 1000mm with...?

Wait, so your ideal turbine is 300mm in diameter, but only 78mm wide? Sounds more like an overshot waterwheel than a cross flow

I had the same value but i computed 90+ mm of the dia.width.
