@@elijahjflowers CLAP is a new open plugin format backed by U-he and Bitwig. It's designed to simplify plugin development and has a bunch of useful features like distinguishing between automation and modulation control inputs.
it could sound strange, but it is actually that! Pure Data, the software which Plug Data is based on, is the younger and open source cousin of Max/MSP. Both of them were conceived by the mind of the same author: Professor Miller Puckette. Fun stuff!
This is so interesting. Is it more complex than the grid? I didn't dive into grid yet. Also CLAP version is available too. I'd love to see an updated tutorial video on this. Thanks Polarity! This is a new rabbit hole for me. I'll learn the fundamentals of Grid and then dive into this.
Hey mang ! thanks again for doing this ! is there by chance any interest to do stuff like data/noise in Grid or plug data . i'd love to see you would you score/patch something like Ikeda or Mika vainio (rip
Followed the instruction to get the Plug Data as above, everything on the page looks the same but when I get to the zip files I can't download them. Just noticed at the top of the first page next to "CMake" it says "Failing" rather than "Passing". It looks as if I can download the releases but they are from September.
@@PolarityMusic So The Grid is more like a modular synth (e.g. Eurorack) than PD? PS As asked elsewhere, would it be possible with a one-on-one talk about Bitwig?
When you like the project, maybe think about a donation on Github. I think everything helps :) github.com/sponsors/timothyschoen
Would love to see a CLAP version of PlugData. Having access to modulators and per-voice modulation could lead to lots of fun things in PD
What is CLAP?

While CLAP format would be relatively trivial (there is a JUCE wrapper already), those features don't make any sense for Pd.
What a difference a year makes, this new update of plug data makes CLAP plugins (that you hopefully do not need penicillin for 😝)
Hey I just discovered PlugData and found your channel. your knowledge is impressive. I will be watching all of your vids.
This is great. Brings PD into the daw and brings the UI up to speed with Max. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, cool! Looks like an open source M4L fork 😎

any plans to make pure data tutorials using plug data?
yes, this could be just the beginning :)

What is that VST3 PolySynth showing in the browser by Robert Agthe?
You working on a synth?

is there a tutorial for installing this on a mac that also shows on how to set it up to use in Ableton live or any other DAW?
when I try to open the help it says "couldn't find help".
I can't figure out why...
Could you use this to make a MIDI ‘Master Chord Track’ - then other MIDI tracks could follow the changes live?!? 🙏
you can do that in bitwig with native devices much easier and faster already i think :)
@@PolarityMusic Maybe this could be the subject of a future video?! I’d love to see your approach…
Great video, thanks!
thanks
😮😮😮kraaass 👍🏻🚀
Cool! any plans for an .au version? That'd be great for Logic uses.. ;-)
There is an AU version already! You can also use it as a MIDI processor in Logic, to make custom arpeggiators or chord triggers.

Sometimes the builds fail, if you scroll down, you can find the latest one with a green check
it's kind of like max 4 live right?
yes, max is based on pd :)
@@PolarityMusic Correction: Max/MSP is Max with features from Pd ported into it (this happened in the late 90s already).
Thanks for video! Does it work well on windows?
yes! works nice so far :) and there are daily builds
that's nice!
I tried it before, but I couldn't launch it on my DAW😭
Watching your video made me want to try again, so I'll give it a challenge!!
Is PureData and/or PlugData more powerful than the Bitwig Grid? Perhaps a comparison video? That would be awesome! Yes, I'm a newbie.
yes pd is more like a real programming language. the grid is more like a very capable modular synth/instrument.

1. yes 2. not at the moment, but you can write me questions in discord or via mail if you want :)
@@PolarityMusic Thanks. :)
Just a thought, does this mean that you can run VST's in Logic using vstplug~ ? That would be something!
probably. not sure about performance lul
You can use kushview element to run vsts in logic and it works well!
so could you GEM with this for audio visual funkery?
Unfortunately GEM doesn't work yet, but it's something that's planned for the future!
Not just VST3, VST2 and LV2 as well.
Cool
looks a bit like Max from cycling
yo, max forked pure data in the past :)
pretty cool... though really they are just using the polygrid idea and building upon it... interesting!
Not sure if you're joking, but Pd was around several decades before Bitwig's grid 😉
