I just don't understand how anyone on this planet could find this anything less than perfection! One of the greatest voices of our generation. Thank the God's that we were blessed to have been able to witness this.
Yesterday was the 20th anniversary of my Mother's passing, I've been listening to this song over and over since yesterday, this song every time I hear it no matter where I am, always brings tears to my eyes 😢😢
In my opinion the audience was a little slow to their feet ( no disrespect intended ) I know she sings this song at ceramonies and gala's etc. So, the audience may have felt it necessary to hold back. I've seen Patti live enough times to know from her first word of the first song if she's in good voice or not. Apparently this particular evening she was a bit hoarse, but still managed to pull off a great performance. Sometimes I even sound a bit better on certain notes and numbers when I'm just about to feel the effects of flu etc. Those of us and probably others are more prone to catching the flu / cold because our vocal chords are opening up and closing much more and wider and if the venue has the air conditioner blasting that'll only exasperated the potential to get sick. I remember Aretha used to put her foot down and flat out refuse to perform if the temperature in the venue wasn't what she wanted it to be. It's not like her management and agent didn't let the venue know in the contract about the "No Air-conditioning" clause per her health and ability to perform.
Her voice was GENIUS, even she had a sore throat, she was even better than normal, pure genius, the greatest singer of all time. That she managed to sing like this with sore throat - it’s unfathomable.
She has lost much of it over time but can still sing. I think she was in process of losing vocal capacity at this time. Even so a little Patti is more than the average singer at their best by far.

Patti is showing everybody that the years of performing has shown her just what an instrument she has cause this was amazing even with the sickness
