Why would people give him hate for the unique style though? That makes no sense, Ellis is easily one of the better skaters out there in terms of technical flip tricks and weird creative stuff. Nothing but respect for that! It's awesome.

Skateboarding has become a bunch of elitest gatekeepers who need to conform to all the "cool" norms. It's hilarious and sad really. Skating used to be about being weird, we've come full circle.
It makes perfect sense why people make fun of him for his unique style. It's called insecurity and a lot of humans have it. Putting him down probably makes them feel safer or some stupid bullshit which is a sad truth
He deserves way more recognition!

St Neots is only about 15 minutes from where I grew up. I remember going down to Ellis’ local skatepark and seeing him for the first time - he must have only been 12 or 13 at the time. I’ve never seen anyone do the things that he was able to do at such a young age. Scary talent.

Impossible's are like my favourite flip trick, dude. In THPS I always end my tricks in a double impossible, it's like ingrained. it looks sick, too. I can't do them IRL though, and probably too old to learn them now.
The Younger gen are lucky, in that their argos boards at least had metal trucks. When I started, argos boards had plastic trucks (80's) and my Mother wouldn't buy me one of the cheap 90's shapes/completes, as they were still 50 quid. So it wasn't until I was 15 and could by my own.
One of my biggest regrets was not being able to get into street skating sooner, as it really hampered my progress. All my mates started between 10 and 12 and here's me starting to street skate at 15 (already had 2 broken arms by this point too, so I already had the fear of jumping stairs and stuff)
The most important thing is getting used to jumping off stuff, before you've been injured, and start to become scared. You work out from there if you have any natural ability, or not. Like there was this 6 year old ollieing the 3 set at a local skate park. I told his father to nurture his ability, as that is not normal. I really hope the kid stuck with it, as he had some natural ability I'd just never seen before... 6 years old ollieing a 3 set, never seen him bail, even once.

i don't like his style but he can obviously do some incredibly hard tricks...i wonder if he has to do a dolphin flip to get four flips or can he do a straight kickflip version of a quad flip...and do it down some stairs instead of boosting out of some tranny onto the flattop, i know i am asking a lot, lol...also, i wonder if this guy skates with Jamie Griffin very much- that must be good for ur skating!!!...but yeah i prefer tech skaters like Jonny Giger, who throw in some standard flip tricks to pad out the amazing technicality of the more obscure or difficult shit...Jamie Griffin is good for this...but yeah good work Ellis, be yourself...
