  • The second week of classes at UNC-Chapel Hill started with an active shooter that left one professor dead and the campus on lockdown for hours. The Daily Tar Heel responded to the shooting with a powerful front page featuring the jarring texts sent during the lockdown. Caitlyn Yaede, the paper’s print managing editor, shares the story behind the emotional cover.

      I was a lifelong Republican and am a current gun owner and second amendment supporter.
      But I've been telling my fellow conservative coworkers that if we don't do something to fix this situation, eventually it's going to get fixed for us by the very same kids you are talking about.
      It's one thing to say it's not guns, it's mental health or whatever, but that doesn't do any good if we aren't willing to fund things like mental health care, etc.
      Eventually we need to wake up to common sense solutions or we might not like what future generations decide to do.

    As a 65 year old gun owning law abiding veteran, I’ve long been beyond fed up with tolerance for 2nd Amendment contortionists and the obscene people that profit from the ease of access to firearms and unmonitored ammunition inventories. Not against the law but may well otherwise flag pregnant gun violence and the people prone to it. The “You can’t stop the mass shooters” is completely transparent BS. And every reasonable person knows it. Keep the freedom, but “Make it as impossible as possible” for anyone to manifest gun violence. Whatever that takes. Period. Don’t want realistic gun laws? Rewrite to 2nd Amendment into 21st Century reality. Imagine that. Any civilization worthy of humanity can figure that out.

      The National Archives and Records Administration has confirmed the existence of three pseudonyms used by democrat Joe Biden during his time as vice president.
      Democrat Biden used the fake names Robin Ware, Robert L. Peters and JRB Ware in his emails to hide his criminal activity,
      The nonprofit advocacy group has been trying to uncover the pseudonyms democrat Biden used as vice president for the past two years. They first requested the National Archives release those emails in 2021. At the time, the Archives said since the then-vice president’s records were collected on Jan. 20, 2017, they wouldn’t be made public until 2022, exactly five years later.The Southeastern Legal Foundation then filed a Freedom of Information Act request in June 2022. At that point, the Archives said they had identified “approximately 5,138 email messages, 25 electronic files and 200 pages of potentially responsive records” as a part of the request but the documents were never made public.
      “All too often, democrat public officials abuse their power by using it for their personal or political benefit. When they do, many seek to hide it,” Kimberly Hermann, the general counsel at the legal nonprofit, said.
      “The only way to preserve governmental integrity is for (National Archives and Record Administration) to release democrat Biden’s nearly 5,400 emails to SLF and thus the public. The American public deserves to know what is in them.” Not surprising, Hunter was cc on the critical classified documents !X!X!

    • @trevx3680
      @trevx3680 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@danielquinn9817 I agree @msioug where do they get them from. They get them from those who legally have them. Theft and corruption make it so easy for criminals to have them.
      The issues are the permissive laws to have and wield firearms, the incredibly destructive gun culture that exists in the country, and the distrust of authority (police in particular). All three areas must be tackled together.
      The distrust of police is probably the first to address. This requires a transparent, accountable, and appropriately resourced justice system. This will in time generate trust in police and we can reduce the need to depend on our own guns and rely on police. This is the place most other countries are already at. America is so far behind and it will require decades to catchup.
      Failure to do this will result in an increase in private armies and vigilante groups applying their own justice that they fail to see occur by police. This will then fracture America and render many laws unenforceable as other groups will create their own laws.
