It appears as though the printer will still print if the Internet is down although I suspect there's likely some intermittent "phoning home" required to keep it working. The USB port definitely doesn't work, however.
why does it cost more to buy a printer that is not connected to the internet? what will happens if you disconnect the printer from the internet or the internet goes out that does happen will it not print I would not buy a printer that had that restriction
@@vincebaker3384 According to HP's knowledge base, the printer refuses to print if it has an inactive connection. Quoting: "How do I fix a 'Printer not connected to the Internet' message? If your printer cannot connect to the service, it stops printing and displays a message. Follow these instructions if your printer was properly connected to the service in the past." Lon should consider testing this.
It does not need continuous connection to the WIFI. This is true if you opt into HP+ but that is optional. Even if this printer is an HP+ version it still functions without opting into HP+. You won't be able to redeem the 6 months of free toner or the additional year of warranty but the printer will still work if you don't opt into HP+. Eventually all printers will be HP+ Eligible but it is 100% optional.

Because I imagine it enforces the use of HP branded cartridges rather than just showing a nag screen if you use a recycled one.

Ya that printer is not worth it, and don't like being locked in to contact for toner which is way over priced
