    That’s so annoying how Activision removes all history of development for their games. I know he got in trouble for bo4 alpha footage but I had no idea they took the guys whole channel down. Valve literally gives players unfinished prototypes while Activision tries to hide its existence no matter how old the game is.

      If I had to guess, I think it's because Acti could get in trouble for copyright infringement. In these early test builds, developers have no restrictions when it comes to testing features and adding in a bunch of assets/features to see what sticks. There's relatively no boundaries on what these devs can do in these early pre-alpha builds because as long as it remains confidential and out of the public eye, who cares?
      But this doesn't directly answer the question on why Acti is so adamant about taking these videos down. There are many possibilities to why do this: 1. The unauthorized use of copyrighted assets from outside the company is a reason why they don't want the public to see their builds 2. For the sake of protecting their own developers from criticism about how they made changes throughout the design phase of the game (or any embarrassing inside joke they made when designing the game) 3. Non-Disclosure Agreements 4. Their fragile pride
      At the end of the day, these people unfortunately have the complete authority to allow or not allow these builds to be seen by the public because it belongs to them. Unless if someone who is brave and intelligent enough to leak a lot of these CoD Pre-Alphas (to the likes of the people responsible for the Nintendo Gigaleak and more recently, the GTA 6 leak), Acti will still go after these videos and there is nothing people can do about it other than reupload and save these videos for themselves.
      I find it quite ironic that Acti doesn't care that most of these games can easily be pirated off the internet but the second they see someone leak an early dev build, they are quick to respond. And it's not like they actively maintain these old ass games anymore because most have severe cybersecurity exploits (even BO3, with it's active custom map community). There is something within these dev builds that they don't want people to see or their legal team is really out of touch with reality. But idk, these are just my thoughts on why these people in suit and tie get their panties in a twist when someone posts footage of an 11 year old dev build of a game they forgotten about

      @TheFriendlyBola And how do you think people got those beta leaks? Cus valve gave source engine developers access to their beta asset repository and trusted developers not to share pre-release content
      They also have a history of outright sharing pre-release content too, like the l4d original survivors to fans to reupload.

    I played the beta back in October 2010 and even that version had notable differences particularly the weapon camos. Tiger for example was a green camo originally(mirroring the real life tiger camouflage used by special forces during the Vietnam war) before they changed it to the orange and black that we all know today. There is footage of it out there if you search enough.

      The game was based off of World at War's engine, after all
      So yeah at one point they must've used an old menu and decided to slap on a few new backgrounds on it

    Dang, I always forget that Black Ops was originally built off of Cod4 and not it’s own separate engine…that’s crazy

    • @wayge
      @wayge 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @The-Red-Menace newer cods are still using the cod 4 engine as a base. When they were talking about a new engine all they really did was add ray tracing support to the engine they've always used. If you know how to decompile/mod the games you wont see much of a difference when going through the files
