As I explained in a reply, the concept of this MV and song is human vs AI and "how humans can protect their unique identity in such a fast developing technology landscape" (Woozi's words). Generative AI (the kind that makes drawings or music) mashes things together and comes out with a result that is often grotesque or senseless, because it's completely removed from context, meaning and intention. Seventeen sets out to do a similar thing here : they first started by introducing different musical elements one after another (the groovy first hip-hop leaning verse, the soaring pre-chorus with lots of synths, the 2-part chorus where the piano motif comes back in accompanied by a heavy bass and brass, the hardcore techno 2nd verse) but all those elements transition pretty naturally from one to another, and they all build on each other to culminate in this big final chorus where they layer all of it together, basically doing their own version of an AI mash-up. Except everything layers perfectly together, nothing sounds out of place or is overpowered by something else. Woozi also intentionally used samples from their previous songs in this (bass guitar from Adore U, synths from Rock With You and Fear, drum beats from Cheers etc...). Because he wanted to show that those songs might have different vibes from each other but samples from them can be worked together into a completely new work, like Maestro. The sample doesn't dictate what the song will be, it's the composer who decides which sample to use to fit their creative vision. So their response to the previous question is "creativity and purpose/intent". If an AI had been fed Seventeen's previous songs, it would have probably come out with a disjointed, overall upbeat song. It could have never created Mastreo because AI can only copy things, it has no creative vision and isn't capable of thinking on it's own (yet).
Honestly l, this comment here is exactly why I have been saying since One Week Club that Woozi is an actual genius. Repurposed samples? Perfect! I thought I something sounded familiar and this confirms it! Thank you for the comment
an extra layer to this is the choreo, there's a lot of choreo elements from other songs put into this choreo, but it all connects well into one final layer in a way that ai could not achieve. if you don't religiously watch dance practices like some of us (me...) do, it's not that easily noticeable, but it's definitely there!
The concept of maestro is that seventeen vs AI. No matter how advance the AI is it can’t surpass the human artistry and the real maestro is human. The mv doesn’t have AI parts. Thanks for the reaction
Woozi crafted this song by using samples from 7 of their biggest hits. He wanted this song to be a tribute to their 9-10 years of work, so he took old songs, weaved them together, and created one new song that crosses all boundaries of genres as well. So far I've picked out "Thanks", "Call Call Call", "Hit", and "Getting Closer". Someone said "Adore U" is in there, but I haven't heard that yet. The only one I know FOR SURE is "Thanks" as it's the piano/orchestral part both DK and Seungkwan sing. Still trying to figure out all 7. Anyway, Woozi just never ceases to amaze me at his creativity and the beautiful, even "Dark Teen" music he can produce. GOOD TO SEE YOU BACK reacting to Seventeen! Have you reacted to to the Hip-Hop team's "LALALI" MV and the Performance team's "Spell" MV? If not, hold onto your hat! Two different vibes, two GREAT MVs! Can't wait for the Vocal team's MV this coming week!
maybe thats why it felt so familiar, lots of DNA from other SVT songs, Woozi never ceases to amaze me, as many know I am very, very high on Suga (Yoongi) and I think honestly that Woozi has actually been one that to me rivals the mind
@@Killdeer25 I think Woozi would bow to Yoongi; but even Yoongi holds Woozi in the highest of esteem. They're each other's fan club when it comes to songwriting and producing! Besides, BTS broke ground and paved the way for Seventeen--and every other group--to be able to succeed worldwide. Seventeen is the first to admit that, too. So though I don't know as much about BTS as I do Seventeen (I've been following K-Pop only 2 years and that's thanks to Seventeen), I HIGHLY respect BTS and their work. They're AMAZING artists...each one...and as a group. Plus, having been a songwriter/keyboardist/vocalist for most of my life (up until the last 12 years), I MUST give Yoongji his due credit. Still getting to know BTS, but I'm sure Yoongji will be my favorite (I never have a single bias, and with Seventeen I bias the whole group!) due to his writing/production/performance contributions to the music world. I would hate to think of a world where neither Woozi nor Yoongji existed. I certainly wouldn't want to live there!
as a big rave-techno fan i absolutely adored this track and i would love to hear it live 😭 now i cant help but want more techno songs from seventeen. im obsesssedddd... it's not every day a kpop group does this kind of track
All of these talented humans have their own sound touch. I absolutely love the theatrical feel of this as it keeps switching up visuals and their word play is spot on. They also seem so much more confident in how they each get to shine in what they each do best. I'm an ARMY full on OT7, but TXT and Seventeen keep catching me with some amazing songs and I appreciate all of them, it's amazing and and so much fun for my music heavy life😍
Seventeen is seriously so good! I agree and honestly Woozi is in such great control, their image, the sound. they have to be one of the best out there! I love TXT as well, they are so good, I am so glad to see where they have taken their music
@@Killdeer25 I have also come to a sad realization that Seventeen members will probably be enlisting soon. I'm so ecstatic that Jin is coming home, but I also feel a heaviness, now that I know and am loving more of 17 that they will be departing soon:(
Was about to jump into Seventeen awhile back as had avoided them for a good bit.....then I met Ateez so I was swept away for a time haha. I saw a clip here on TH-cam with Seungkwan, and DK and Hoshi (I think) on Lee Hong Ki's radio show. Seungkwan was having babies with excitement getting to sing live with Hong Ki as he is one of his fav singers and the two lads were just as excited for him, and then the singing starts and its their reactions...... just simply gas. No subtitles, but none needed as their faces say it all. Brill and its only about 4 minutes long, so worth your time.
oh that sounds awesome! I need more Ateez and Stray Kids honestly, they have some of the coolest songs to date, but yeah, Seventeen isnt to be skipped either! it sounds so sick! I will check it out!
Not 100% sure what I think of this yet. I think it will take me a few listens to put it all together in my head. There were elements that I like, but at the moment I'm not sure if I like it as a whole. I will say though that Top Dog by Topp Dogg came to mind with the classical elements.
Morse code? Brilliant! No other reactor has ideas like this. If you are correct will you be my Sensei? And if you're wrong, thank you for making us think within the artists' sphere. Aw you're amazing! I hope you know this!
At first I just thought is was ok and thought Wonwoo's rap part was definitely more than ok and then I thought the song ended and thought, well that was decent. But then the song kept going and the second half made the song. Loved the increased tempo, it made everything more dynamic. Also they looked beautiful with this concept, especially Woozi. In my head Seventeen is always cute boy next door vibes.
Whenever anyone does songs like this that have that cute concept, it's always kind of jarring at first. That was my thoughts on TXT as well. Now that time has passed, how do you feel about it now? I think that second half is the key I think as well
@@Killdeer25 Oh I didn't find it jarring, I remember they've done a lot of not cute concepts and those are usually my favourite. But in my head they are always the bubbly energetic guys in suspenders from Very Nice. Watching the video again, I stand by my original thought. The first half seems a bit generic other than I love the beat in Wonoo's rap part and how it dictates the tempo of his fight scene. And then the second half comes in and it's like a different song. Everything about the second half is more dynamic and interesting and the difference between the two halves makes the second half more dramatic. But I still prefer other songs more.
So I usually don't listen to Seventeen bc they have very dancy music, also quiet bright, I actually liked this songs the most from all lately releses. I didn't like voice filter in the part that they do line "following the maestro lead" every member that did this line was filtered or was modificated (?) I really didn't like it it make the words not nice to ear... I liked melody and singing, yeah singing was great, rap was ok. I was like really ok with the song, but not really like wowed, but I think the second part really helped to make it more interesting. I think video was very cool, and more darker then most their are. I don't mind a little AI in video's but I don't like this new trend in musuc that AI is making songs, etc, ugh....
They are extremely dancy and colorful haha! And that's a fair point, I feel like with Woozi it's very intentional when things like that feel that way, I do think that Woozi would be one that wants to make you feel something even if it is uncomfortable. Honestly I really liked the dark aspect, they really nailed that topic with their Japanese releases we had. I will say, I don't think that this is my favorite Seventeen song

In the most recent Going Seventeen the members referred to Woozi as "The God of Music" and he let them.
its because its the truth haha!
