- The Green Party unveiled their manifesto, with pledges to bring the railways, water, and the "big five" energy companies into public ownership - stopping shareholders "treasuring millions".
The "super rich" would also be taxed more under the Greens - with a 1% annual wealth tax on assets above £10m and 2% on assets above £1bn. Capital Gains Tax would be aligned with workers' income tax.

Regardless of political position, it's undeniable that there is no real debate between Labour and Conservatives any more. The actual debate, with contending ideas, is between Reform and the Greens.

The answer is obvious. The top donors of the Greens in the UK are Shell and BP, obviously they don't want nuclear energy. The whole thing is a joke.
This shows a degree of naivety. Super rich just move on to a country with less tax. Some energy companies pay 70% tax. Yes something must be done but think carefully.Also think about the many benefits to illegals while the working poor struggle think about money sent to the proxy war in Ukraine. The Robin Hood tax just does not work wave goodbye to that 1% .
If I was a billionaire I would just move my tax affairs to another country, these rich people are not stupid.
They already do that. If they didn't, then tax havens wouldn't be a thing. They need to be stopped from doing that and then pay more tax. A government with the guts and votes to do it could make it happen, but the 2 big choices do not want to do it because they don't want flourishing services and it is advantageous to their power to keep as many of us cash strapped and without adequate services.
And we still continue to give them power over and over again. They have trained us to believe that better isn't possible, all so that people distrust anyone who lays out a decent alternative plan. It is so sinister - like we have the option to vote in well intentioned intelligent people who actually want to help us, but we have been conditioned to believe that it can't happen, that corrupt charlatans are the only choice. It is maddening.

True. And the top 10% pay over 60% of all the income tax. So taxing wealthier people is a joke. We need to tax the 19.3% of workers who pay no tax. And tax the 27% of self employed workers who pay no tax.

Dealing with climate change will demand massive public investment. The money for that is there, it’s just being hoarded by a tiny economic elite.
And some people would say tax is not the same thing as “stealing”. Some might even say the way the super rich hoard the wealth is what’s more akin to stealing.

This should all be in the Labour manifesto. If my seat wasn't a tory labour marginal I would 100% vote Green. I wish we had a voting system where we can vote for who we want rather than who can win under FPTP.
What’s not to like?
Well, there's the fact that the rich have both the means and the facilities to simply leave the UK for somewhere with a more favourable tax situation, all the while keeping their businesses domiciled in the UK but shifting their private wealth out of the UK along with their Tax responsibilities. This is a short sighted and simply imbecilic proposition from the Greens, but that's to be expected. They haven't a clue on pretty much anything.
Secondly, people such are these have very clever accountants and lawyers and also significant leverage to negotiate, even with the tax man. They will pay what they want to pay, like the royals do, because they know that the tax man will either take what they offer or get nothing at all.

There is no significant man made climate change. They should concentrate on pushing parties likely to get in power to reduce plastic consumption and invest in better rubbish disposal. There is a place for low impact hydro-power (i.e. Norway), solar in the deserts for example and perhaps even wave power although I'm not sure of the ecological/wildlife impacts, but wind farms are killing off numerous species from bats to whales. Extraction of material for electric cars devastates the land and disposal causes huge land fill issues. Pushing millions into poverty and lowering the standard of living for all but the super rich is not GREEN!! Check the funding.
EDIT: I do though support nationalising key infrastructure and overhauling the stock market so that we get back to producing real things and investing in those companies rather than siphoning off profits to dividends for people and organisations with little interest in the company itself.

1. Analysis shows temperature spikes of 10-12 degrees over short 40/50 year periods have been happening for tens of thousands of years. Look up Dansgaard-Oeschger events.
2. There is serious corruption in temperature readings but satellite temperature readings show little change. Those used by NOAA have been not so subtly altered over the past 50 years to remove outlier weather stations and instead include those built next to man made hotspots like airports or where new urbanisation has encroached on existing stations. Search for a report called Corrupted Climate Stations for more information. I hope this message appears and isn't deleted, because discussion is much needed.

In fairness, even without reducing tax, you'd have more money in your pocket because you'd be spending less on energy bills, rent, etc
They have plans to help working class such as insulating homes which will reduce energy bills and also carbon emissions too. Also making transport much more affordable by changing the system on domestic travel across the UK as well as improving local transport. Better services too.
Lots of good ideas that’ll save money and leas to better quality of life.

At the last election, I thought it very odd The Green Party sanctioned open borders, (How Green was that?) does the same still apply?
Reinstating the safe routes is not open borders, it's just more efficient and cost effective, and removes the market for people smugglers.
