Lol a lot of people are still crying that there is no Nightwish without Tarja. It was over 12 years ago, get back to reality. Nightwish still exist. Now they are doing better than ever. Tarja is of course a great singer but come on, life goes on.
Goruns yeah I'm so sick of those arguments. Both Tarja and Nightwish have moved on and are doing very well. I personally prefer Floor with Nightwish because of her versitility in singing styles, but I also love Tarjas Solo work. It would be a big step backwards for both Tarja and Nightwish to go back together.
Tarja is irreplaceable!!!

If you want ro hear some of Floor's more operatic vocals, Stargazers (Live at Tampere) is fantastic. You'd also probably love Romanticide from the Wacken concert too. You get to hear Marco's vocals in that one.
If you want to hear their first vocalist Tarja, their cover of Phantom of the Opera is pretty epic. Try the End of an Era concert.
Oh yeah most of the reccomendations you'll get will probably be live clips just because these guys are actually much more fun to watch live.
Angela .Rajic probably the best band out there live. And ive heard most. From Maiden in the 80s up to Halestirm and Arch Enemy. Nightwish is still top dog in live shows.
You are absolutley right with it has to be live versions. They allways put on an amazing live performance. Also in my opinion is the most of there studio material are overproduced. It has enorumus potential but it just doesn't sound right.
Anyway Phantom of the opera from End of an Era is a must to check out. It's out of this world how good they do that cover.

Greetings from Finland! Gotta love the father/son bonding together with great songs! Jukka reminded me so much of younger Scott Rockenfield with his play style. Some classics from Nightwish you should definitely check out if youre planning to go to a concert as they might play them. From oldest to latest: Stargazers, She Is My Sin, Bless The Child, Everdream, Nemo, The Siren, 7 Days To Wolves, Storytime, I Want My Tears Back, Last Ride Of The Day, Song Of Myself.
We won't be able to attend their show this time around, but that is not going to stop us from continue to listen to Nightwish on this channel. Thank you for the kind words.

Glad you liked this! Nightwish is all about Tuomas's (keyboards) songwriting--the melodies, orchestration, etc. Now with Floor, they can cover the entire 20 year expanse of material, like this one where she's belting her lungs out, and then GLS where she's using her classical voice a lot. Based on this, you'll like Weak Fantasy & Yours is an Empty Hope from the Tampere DVD as well. The Greatest Show on Earth from that show is absolutely amazing both as a piece of music and just the performance. It's a long song (over 20 mins), so not a great candidate for a reaction video (although AMAReacts did it), but it showcases what makes Tuomas a genius. If you look at the sheer variety of songs he's written, it's mind boggling. And don't forget, Floor is Hannes from Sabaton's baby mama :). (I just love mentioning that lol)

Nice that you are getting more into Nightwish as well. They are huge here in Finland. One recommendation would be live version of Phantom of the Opera. Another one is Ever Dream also from Wacken.

Nightwish - Romanticide (Official Live video Wacken) please check it next! This song is heavier and so so good! There you can also hear Marco - Nightwish bassist. His voice is also awesome! I have two curiosities for you:
1. Floor Jansen (current Nightwish singer - the third in history of the band) is wife of the Sabaton drummer. They have a child (was born this year).
2. Jukka (drummer which you dig on the video) is temporarily replaced by Kai Hahto (Wintersun drummer) which you can see on new live videos and latest Nightwish album.
I love Nightwish and I am so happy that you finally convinced yourself to this band.

Ohh yess finally, my favourite band XDD, you should check some old songs like Stargazers.... amazing song. BTW Jukka, the drummer in this song , has health problems and now the drummer of Nightwish is Kai Hahto (Wintersun drummer) till Jukka comes back.

Romanticide is an amazing song and really heavy. That live version from Wacken can blow ones mind. But I don't know where did you hear growls in this song.

I'd recommend watching Nightwish - Wish I Had An Angel (live in Wacken2013), one of the first metal songs I've fallen in love with. And Nightwish - Phantom of the Opera(Live 2005 The End of An Era with their first singer Tarja)... a magical beautiful piece of art

I'm not sure that it would. They may like it more than they did Ghost Love Score because they are more into Nightwish now than they were. But it's another song that has a lot of up and downs. I personally love it, but I love everything to do with Nightwish. :) Would be cool to see them do a reaction video to it though.

i still dont get what people find about floor singing tarjas songs. Don't get me wrong she is an awesome Singer but i think the earlier nightwish songs just belong to their original singers. When Floor sings them there is always something missing

Nightwish is my all time favorite band, but their more orchestral songs are definitely not for everyone (the previous song you did), so if you just want their shorter, heavier quote real metal unquote songs, then there are some good suggestions in the comments i've seen
the other thing you need to consider is which versions, because pre-2006 has their original singer (Tarja) who is a full blown soprano and basically founded the female fronted symphonic metal genre; her replacement was polarizing because of the completely different singing style (i still love all their stuff) from 2007-2012; their current singer (in this vid) is a perfect mix between her two predecessors
And as others have said, Kai from Wintersun is their drummer (not official replacement, but has been with them since after the concert in this video, the original drummer stepped away due to insomnia and other medical issues)

Nightwish’ new drummer is Kai Hahto, Wintersun’ s drummer!!
Wow, super! Unfortunately this drummer has a break with Nightwish due to health problems. He was replaced by Kai Hahto from Wintersun. But he is still an official member of the band and will be back if he'll get better. Floor is amazing singer, one of my favourites female metal singers. The last song you reacted was very gentle and probably not the best choice to meet this band for you. But among Nightwish fans this song and this performance is one of the best. Check out also this one NIGHTWISH - Yours Is An Empty Hope (OFFICIAL LIVE CLIP). This live is with Kai Hahto and also with male vocal. In this one Floor even does growls.
If you like more heavier songs I think you should check out band Epica. They are from the same genre, but they are different. I have two songs for you, the first is longer, the second shorter, but both are amazing. I don't know which one I should choose. The first one is EPICA - Consign To Oblivion - Live at the Zenith (OFFICIAL VIDEO), the second is Epica - The Essence Of Silence (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO).

Megrez yes, Ghost Love Score is one of the most epic Nightwish song there is, you have to come in to it, a few listenings, the one from Argentina, because the crowd is so different from any other place and a small theater, and then Tampere, where Floor really show how great the song can be on a big stadium, they should listen to those...

Regarding Epica they are amazing too. I think Nightwish and Epica are both my favourites bands. I can't pick one of these two bands.

I'm not a doctor, but in general I think yes.
Yes it is, as severely impedes your ability to perform tasks and probably might be caused by the stress of touring all around the world (or worse, by depression, though I have no clue as far as the cause of Jukka's problem is concerned). I hope he'll get better soon though I think that Kai is the best possible replacement.

Glad to see that you start digging Nightwish. We share so much as far as musical preferences are concerned, so to see you on the fence regarding Nightwish really made me scratch my (non-existing) hairs.
I would have scratched mine if I had any. I think the issue is I went in with a set of expectations instead of an opening slate.
That's what I thought too. Ghost Love Score is something that you have to understand Nightwish first. Ofcourse it's a great sounding song but if expecting something else it might feel lame for a heavy guy.

I saw that you talked a lot about the drummer (Jukka Nevalainen), but I inform you, that unfortunately he left the band, due to problems with insomnia. Nightwish is one of my favorite bands, but I confess that with the new drummer, all this energy that you saw in the video now, is gone.
But I'm glad they liked it. Nightwish is an incredible band, and Floor Jansen (Third vocalist in the history of the band), put the weight that the band needed, in addition to the sensational and very powerful voice.

Nope. Kai is nowdays a shareholder of the Nightwish co (and permanent member). Jukka is the CEO of the band and takes care of their money BUT does not play the drums anymore. There was a big article about Jukka and Nightwish corporation in Finnish financal newspaper, Kauppalehti.

Good remark, that's why I love Jukka as drummer! He is crazy and funny 😂. When he plays songs as The Kinslayer and Dark Chest Wonders he gives all his power to transmit energy for the crowd! Now he took a break from drumming because some sleep troubles but he will be back... Nightwish without Jukka is "To se nevrati" (will never be the same). Hello from Germany!!!

I recommend checking out "Creek Marys Blood" as well, its more on the softer side but very beautiful.
You should listen these songs with the original vocalist, nothing against Floor, I love her, especially in After Forever, but any performance of the show "End of An Era" with Tarja is excellent, I recommend to you guys the heavier ones like: "Slaying the Dreamer", "Wishmaster", "The Kinslayer"...
On End of an Era you can easily hear Tarja's weaknesses. I got shocked to see that. I was like what's wrong with her voice. Floor, live - studio - all the same, not a single problem. Phantom of the Opera is the only one I recommend to check out from that luve DVD.

I am very glad you enjoyed this one :-) Just for info, the guy on the keyboard is the brain behind nightwish, Tuomas Holopainen. And Marco Hietala, the blond bass player also takes part on the composing. I think you could do several songs from that concert, is an awesome live. For more heavy "wish i had an angel" and for a bit less heavy one of their classics: "Nemo" or "Amaranth" a bit more recent.
Slaying the Dreamer live is superb. End of an Era. Really energetic.

Wishmaster is a very good song along those lines... but there's one really heavy song called Master Passion Greed which is the fastest and heaviest Nightwish song in my opinion ! And it's sooooooo epic I'm sure you'll love it !
Floor Jansen is my favorite singer shes a true performer. Check out from Nightwish, Yours is an Empty Hope, Weak Fantasy or Romanticide (with her singing though) Also check out Epica.. they are heavier but still very symphonic. try "Unleashed" its amazing

Like i said in last NighWish reaction video, next step sould be album OceanBorn - any song really. And ditch the live videos, stick to the album versions, that´s a better way to first know a band, IMHO offcourse.

My two favorite songs from Nightwish are Crownless and Wanderlust. They're a lot faster. Should also check out romanticide.
Nightwish touring North America. I don't know where you are based but if you live close, you should definitly check it out.
On songs, I love Everdream (Tarja) and Tuomas's personal masterpiece (he claims it is their best song and the best thing he has ever done) Dead Boy's Poem. I love Floor singing but you will never know what Nightwish is all about without first hearing Tarja's voice
Next you have to do something with Tarja on vocals, something like "Wishmaster".

Listen to Tarja Turunen In Nightwish she has a powerful scary operatic voice and she was the original Nightwish singer you will absolutely love her she is such a goddess Tarja Turunen!!
There are couple of great videos from their Wembley show: Shudder before the Beautiful and Poet and the Pendulum. I would definitely go with Poet and the Pendulum first before jumping into Greatest show on Earth. If you instead want to hear one of their heavier songs, try Master Passion Greed, only audio available for that one though. Also Romanticide which is also mentioned in the comments is one of their better live songs.
Just whatever you do, please skip all the songs that has actual music videos: Nemo, Amanranth, Elan etc. Those are just hit singles designed for maximum radio exposure IMO. Tuomas Holopainen is one of the greatest musical minds of our time and he can literally cater any musical need out there. Hence the lighter hit songs.
Jugi their cover of Over the Hills and Far Away is pretty aweome though, and it has a pretty good music video

Funny fact iirc that choir sounding background shouting was done by their first lead singer Tarja Turunen.

I've watched this concert and listened to the cd countless time. Floor is a great vocalist. In my opinion Ever Dream was by far the best of the set.
Could you do Nightwish - Weak Fantasy? It's from the most recent album, with Kai from Wintersun at the drums :)
