He plays Rugby League for the New Zealand Warriors in the NRL, this video was mainly around 2011-2016 seasons...he's still playing but he's in his 30's now & after a few injuries & due to age etc, lost a bit of speed & agility...but now he's gotten smarter at executing the game plan & using the players around him, the position he plays is important cause their basically the playmaker of the team....great reaction, bro👍
I was mates with Shaun back in 2006 when we both played Aussie Rules for the New Zealand under 16s team and did a tour in Australia. Dude was insanely quick on his feet, could side step absolutely anyone with ease and ended up getting one of the MVP of the tournament awards.
What's more impressive is he basically played for one of the lowest ranked teams in the competition for the majority of these highlights, he had to do everything alone, he kicked the goals, he cleared the ball, he ran the calls, he kicked all the resets( every 5 tackles). He ran the team while also performing at a level well above those around him, he carried this team well above the level they were performing at. Dudes an absolute magician, incredible athlete. He was literally the backbone of the team for sooooo long, and as soon as his form dipped the public turned on him and called for his retirement, it was sad. Dudes an all time legend in my eyes.
No, his first year wahs were the best team in the comp and he's only won the Simon Mannering medal once and that was last year and the golden boot in 2014 and he's been to the finals like 6 times
Sj in his prime was one of the most damaging ball runners dude was torching half the team by himself….think of him as the derick rose of nrl a lot of injuries slowed him down
From what i saw in his recent inerview. Hes keen to play on but he thibks the warriors dont want him, due to the fact they brought all these halves into the team
James Maloneys record is hard to beat. The key part to multiple teams making Grand Final/Premiership runs. The Prelim final in Melbourne was the perfect second half of football. When he left there was a decline, the team he went to - he did the same thing for them and they did the business. Then on his way out he joins a team with half as much talent... And they do the business. Greatest Warrior ever? Mannering. Special mention for the little General. But best player to put on a Warriors jersey? As good as Mannering was he just isn't gonna be the matchwinner Maloney was. Big matches, he was key, time and time again. Different casts, same result.

You need watch his 2023 season highlights with the Warriors. With a doubt the most talented rugby league player on the planet and I say that cos he puts players in holes, great defender, got speed to burn as you can see with matching footwork agility that only he posses in the game but his greatest assett which is evident in his 2023 season is hus 1Q vision along with timing. There are many that bring speed but dont have agility to match. There are many that bring defence but lack in offensive situations.....Shaun Johnson is one of few in the game if not the only one who thrives in all areas. Thats why I regard him as the most gifted player in Rugby league.
Check out christian Cullen and Jonah Lomu aswell. I'd compare Jonah Lomu to NFL's / MLB's Bo Jackson if not better. Just like Bo Jackson Jonah lomu had speed, agility, size, strength/power and height. There has not been any other player before or after him that has graced the world of Rugby Union. Check him out.
I could send you plenty of great NRL player highlights compilations & plenty of NRL big hit compilations links if you want?Btw the NRL just played 2 game's in Vegas @ the death star last night in front of 41000 crowd.
Imagine him playing for the storm or the roosters. Would of won many primireship by now. Took the warriors 3 years to realise it was not his fault. That the warriors were so bad.
This is league and not rugby. Hope ur coming to Vegas on 2nd March 2024 to watch NRL - Australian Rugby League at Allegiant Stadium Although Shaun Johnson and the New Zealand Warriors won’t be there this year - the Warriors will be heading over in the coming years
The front on camera angles are so annoying. It cuts out the true perspective of his runs. There's better footage of these tries and runs, without the head on stuff.
It is better to educate others with background and empathy. If a foreigner comes across the 'National Rugby League' of course he'll presume he's watching rugby. Vics barely know the difference, let alone a guy who comes from where he does.
NRL is Rugby league not Rugby union. Rugby is short for rugby union & a totally different sport. Call it NRL/League or Rugby league but please don't call it Rugby. Rugby league is the greatest game on earth!

He diddn''t debut until 2011. This is more from 2011-2016
@@brodiepowell2633 Oops yeah thanks for pointing that out it's on the og video title too , thanks mate...I'd better fix that
That try at 3:48 was where he got injured and lost his speed and confidence to run, changed his game a lot
🫡 now he's retired 😭

Same here
I’d say he performed well above all other players in other teams too because of who he played for 💁🏼♂️

Up the what? 0 premierships and all I ever hear is up the wahs 😂😂😂
Johnson is definitely the best player to ever put on the warriors jersey 💯✌️
Nope.. Shaun is great, Cap'n Mannering greater. 'Wahs up!'
@haydengoodall6767 actually yeah hard one especially Mannering 👍

As a kiwi and all for kiwi. Johnson by far separates the gap from his predecessors. His is the one and he and Benji were unique
2024 could be Shaun's last season. Lets hope the mighty Warriors have a great season.

Watch Benji Marshal...now that's footwork...💪🤙
And SJ still hasn't won the highest award for this sport 😭
You need to react to Benji Marshall Highlights
React to a guy named Greg Inglis one of the best players to ever play the game
That try against manly he got injured
Remember that too....lost some confidence in his running and some speed for ages after that one. Good to see he's playing smarter than ever!
Is there a defensive (best moments) because its the same team offence and defence im lead to believe
Yup, the same team defends and goes on the offense.
They call him Shaun "Magic" Johnson.
Damn spiders on him. Watch benji marshal. This is touch footy skills brought to league.
Change of direction,we call a side step, but step for short,Pump fake's we call a dummy (OBVIOUS) REASON 😅)👍🏽
Bro thanks
Johnson is of European/Laotian descent.
No Māori/Polynesian roots. ✌🏾
