    Loved the video! I wanted to ask how easy is it getting around without a car? I know it’s cold, but say for instance you want to go buy groceries…where can you go? Also do freshmen dorms have kitchens?

    Loved the video! Had to smash the like and subscribe buttons after watching :) I'm a rising high school senior and I'm thinking about applying to U of R in the fall. Would you mind sharing a couple of your favorite and least favorite things about the school?

    Hey Gooth these vids are amazing!! Quick question- does urochester have good internship opportunities for people in data science and computer science? Also have you personally been in any internships yet? Sorry for so many questions please keep posting

    • @kambam172
      @kambam172 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Edit: I am mainly asking about data science sorry

      Thanks so much! There are definitely plenty of opportunities for internships at U of R for DS and CS students. I think I talked about it a little bit in this video (around 7:30) but it all depends on how proactive you are and what kind of experience you have. I haven't personally applied for or gotten an internship yet but I hope to make a few videos about internships in the near future so keep an eye out!

    I’m an incoming freshman this year. Do you have any tips about picking classes? Also I’m trying to fill out the orientation form, does the course request on the form matter when actually picking courses?

    • @Gooth
      @Gooth  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For picking classes, I would say just start out with some intro courses with not too many intense ones (no more than 2). Feel free to take classes that aren't part of your major and don't pick any that may seem like a lot of work because first semester is your time to adjust and settle in, so you don't want to have that extra stress. The course form for orientation is meant for your advisors to see what kinds of courses you're planning on taking. It's not finalized at all; just meant to help you and your advisor plan out your semester.

    Hello! I am a high school senior planning to Ed UoR. And the most likely major I will be doing is Computer Science. But I have heard that the CS program in UoR is more on the theoretical side, and therefore it's hard to get into the industry. What's your take on this? Thanks!

    • @Gooth
      @Gooth  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The CS program is pretty similar to CS programs at most other schools. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s only theoretical; there’s a good balance of theory and application. And job opportunities are great regardless of where you go to school; it’s all about how proactive you are at looking for them!

    How well do you think introverts fit in URochester? Cause I’m a bit shy and going to a college in the middle of nowhere seems really daunting for me

    • @Gooth
      @Gooth  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great question! I think college can be daunting for any introvert and, speaking as somewhat of an introvert myself, it can be a difficult transition from a comfortable place like high school to a totally new environment like college. Although it definitely took some time for me to get comfortable, I was able to start meeting people within the first week and that’s kind of how your college experience begins. There will always be someone who takes the initiative to get to know you, so I wouldn’t stress! I’m actually thinking of making a video on this so if this comment doesn’t answer your question, stay tuned for that!

    Hi gooth, what is the average GPA and SAT scores of the Asian International freshmens at UofR?
    I am interested in applying for the upcoming season.
    Thanks.

    • @Gooth
      @Gooth  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bhaibhav, I’m not too sure what the average statistics are for Asian International students but it seems like the overall average accepted SAT score is a 1420 and the average accepted GPA is a 3.8. But don’t take these stats as super rigid; you can have a lower GPA or a lower SAT/ACT and still stand a great chance at getting in. So even if you happen to fall short, it’s still worth applying! I may touch on this in a future video so keep a look out
