If you can you prefer to target at 2/3 of the max range. Dreadquakes hit like a truck so yeah the balanced it with a bad accuracy which can be increased with chevrons.
13:18 ooof this exact situation is why i love missile mirror lol, just an uno reverse card on any hard-hitting shooting that tries to punish the shugengan
Turin show us your iron demon model. Also gotta love that CA kept the artillery always shooting to sides of units "feature" from the fall of the samurai
it hurts to do it but you NEED to triple gold chevron your dreadquake. Your accuracy and not to mention RELOAD SPEED is drastically improved. Every missed shot is one that could have destroyed an entire unit. Spend the extra gold. Don't troll yourself.
Yeah I was wondering why my impression of dreadquakes is so much better, then I remember I use them in campaign where they get up to max chevrons in about 3 battles.
It definitely seems like the dreadquake has an effective range of around 300 or so before it starts actually hitting shots. I think you should have moved it up further to right behind that hill next to your point, where it could get a little closer and still be safe from cannons. Its like it has the massive range so you want to sit at max range like you might with cannons or other mortars but its REALLY needs to get to within 300-250. Maybe it was just extreme coincidence but those two direct hits on the jade warriors attacking your point maybe 100-150 units closer than the enemy cannons and iron hail gunners feels significant, like theres some information to be gleaned by such a combat test.
Dreadquakes have an absurdly massive 120 calibration area, meaning that an "accurate" shot is going to come down in a 120 meter radius of where they were aiming. I think they're better for Land Battles than Domination because in a Land Battle, when they inevitably miss there's a higher chance for them to accidentially hit a different enemy unit.
there is a science to it: the further you are the less accuracy, basically consider it a mid range artillery piece that can do long range shots if youre feeling lucky.
Dreadquake is best used as a close-to-medium range support fire weapon, with fire at will disabled. For that reason it's best to tow it with a train, and then manual fire. That set-up will absolutely annihilate all infantry, but it's prohobitively expensive because CD already pay a lot for their core units.
I'm telling you, try doing triple gold chevron on the Dreadquake. The accuracy and calibration buffs from the veterancy work wonders. Does it make it viable? No. But it upgrades it to a viable meme.
I dont think it would have worked here but i like the idea of having the dreadquake rolling dirty near the frontline to get more accurate shots and maybe work as a distracting pincushion for bow heavy factions.
The thing is that the dradquake is mutch better at defending a position, where the oponent has to get his units its close together to capture a point. In that case, especially at 2/3 range or less, the dreadquake can do serious work as long as you aways target whatever has the most stuff close by, as even if it misses the shot, the os of it hitting something are pretty good. I've had games where I hot over 4k value on a dreadquake mortar, or 400+ kills on chaff kn chaff centric match ups.
I only play land battle, but there dreadquake only feels feasible if on the RoR train. It doesn't get killed instantly by something like double bolt thrower and it maybe possible gets a bit more accurate from the chevrons. But it's also a huge risk due to the cost and the targeting gets janky when towed because it only fires when the cart on the back is facing the target.
You really need to select better targets for the dreadquake man, it looks like you let it target moving lords and moving units which is what resulted in those random misses. Meanwhile, the cathay cannons and gunners just gleefully shot away at your lines throughout most of the game before you finally cleaned them up. Don't blame the dreadquake, it is amazing at dealing with that exact kind of units. One or two misses do not matter if the next shot ends up wiping 70% of the unit.
How does Turin get his graphics to look so great. I have a decent rig, but my game comes out kinda bright and doesn’t have such depth with the shadows.
Cathay is missing too many things tbf, its roster is sooo limited atm, that's why it's so bad in competitive, 37% wr for such beatiful faction is sad af ngl
I think the DQ Mortar forced Cathay to be on the offensive to invest in attacking your main objective and not hard push the third objective just by existing and through the few good hits it had. I agree the Rocket launcher probably would be better but with the misplay with the Iron Daemon its hard to say if you should have just gone without that unit and kept the DQ. to improve the mortar maybe its worth it to put a couple chevrons on the unit (though im not sure if that still improves the accuracy) or shooting from shorter range to improve the accuracy of the shots also targeting can get weird with units that are spread out due to being knocked around.
in my experince the dreadquakes need to shoot at half or less of their maximum range to be good. trying to use them at max range is a disaster. note that i have only used them in campain. half range might be to risky against artilery faction
Is the friendly fired labourers value subtracted from your score? Maybe the mortar actually pay for itself? Also 2 units that was slowed down didnt add capture weight in on point ...🤔
also Cathay wr in competitive: 37% 💀 Meanwhile Kislev bing chilling with his completely busted roster at 72%wr even after "nerfs": 👁️👄👁️ what a joke lmao
That Dreadquake carried hard. Now you don't need to pay those Goblin Laborers for their labor.
Excuse me you have to call them "somewhat (in)voluntary goblin trainees" now.
No, we still don't pay them, why do you ask?

How much additional gold does it cost to chevron it?
Triple gold chevron for accuracy could be a tech....
Also not firing from max range, at half or lower the reliability skyrockets
Also maybe add more of them lol

Another great batrep. Love how you tested the Dread Quake. Thanks.
The Blunderbuss power fantasy coming in when the dreadquake fantasy dies
From my experience in campaign, dreadquake seems to aim at the edge of the unit it’s targeting, vastly reducing its chance to hit.
Bull centaur renders still MVPs for the Dawi-Zharr
Dread quake seemingly is only accurate when it shoots automatically at your own units by accident…
The thing is that the dradquake is mutch better at defending a position, where the oponent has to get his units its close together to capture a point. it probably has terrible max range accuracy on top of being a single shot, probably would of did work if it was closer
The worst feeling is thinking about what you could've brought instead of the mortar
The title instantly put a smile on my face :)
That was an amazing and unexpected outcome
wow they really f***ked the dreadquake lol
the mortar was there to add cinematic value.
yesssss, embrace the dreadful dreadquake!
You need to put it on a train and bring it closer the accuracy gets a lot better at close range and being on a train makes it hard to kill

Does giving a ranged unit chevrons not increase its accuracy quite a bit. It sounds like it would be a horrible investment but worth a try maube
