Daniel, welcome back. Fab content as usual. You are so right about putting up quality and not content. Some of these guys who put up a vlog a week sacrifice quality. Loved the shots and you got some great quality light and some great drone work. Looking forward to seeing more. Take care my friend. F.
Really appreciate that Ferg, thanks so much for watching ! I have a few new vlogs done, going to be dropping them every two weeks to take the pressure off a bit ! Hope you’re well mate
Thanks so much for watching and for the warm welcome back ! Have a few videos ready to go but putting them out every two weeks now instead of weekly ! Thanks for sticking with me ! Xx
Of course we will stick with you, however often you get to do a video! Another enjoyable blog love the composition of the shots and the light was amazing. Great drone footage as always. Going to watch a bit of your back catalogue again now to inspire me for a trip over to the old homeland over Christmas.
That’s so kind of you Chris and I’m really grateful to you, have the next three videos done so more to come ! As always I really appreciate your support, thank you
Have to admit I’d never considered Dungy as a sunrise location before, thanks for opening my eyes, always been a sunset spot. Keeping an eye out for some decent conditions now…🤞🏻
Had it all to myself for the 2.5 hours I was there. Took the same composition as yourself too initially. Got a good enough dramatic sky. Then took out the 70/200 for a compressed shot of the chalk cliffs in the distance, and got some nice layering/depth thanks to the lighting.
Taken me a while to get round to watching this but glad i did, good to see you back out and good to hear your busy, thats always a good sign. The drone work was on point as ever really lovely images from a unusual viewpoint, really enjoyed that mate, look after yourself and Merry Christmas to you and yours all the best for 2022, take care mate !
Thanks so much for watching Lee ! Really do appreciate it ! It’s so nice to be back out ! Hope you have a fantastic Christmas and new year Lee and thank you for all your support in 2021
What a fantastic spot, wonderful drone footage! I love the fact you have included the golden spiral in you composition. I love the mood and atmosphere of 10:22. 10:44 a bit brighter on the land and sea but a little less colour in the sky, the cliffs beautifully lit, in 11:09, a fantastic composition, my favourite this far is 10:22, Thanks for sharing Daniel, welcome back
Well, we have certainly missed you but this has made up for your recent absence! As covid scuppered our plans for holidays this year, I didn't get to see the sea for myself but this was the next best thing!🙂
Thanks so much for watching and supporting Heidi. Yes it’s been a while but I have a few episodes ready to go in two week gaps :) really hope you get to the sea next year !
Great video Daniel! Stunning location! Those high clouds really lit up for you for a few moments there before changing to that beautiful light hitting the cliffs. Love the drone footage and the photos were beautiful! Really enjoyed it!
Thanks so much Paul, was really pleased I made the switch in location otherwise it would have just been clear sky ! Thanks so much for watching and commenting paul, I really do appreciate it!
Great video, thanks @daniel wretham. Love the 3rd shot, just a shame it hasn't the sky of the first two. I think I might swap the skies over if they were my images!!! 😂😉
Thanks very much Mark, I do love pictures with light on the subject, don’t think I could ever bring myself to do a sky swap though 😂 really appreciate you watching and commenting Mark, thank you very much !
Some lovely photos :) Not sure what camera you use but ISO 50 is probably an extended ISO and if you are struggling with shutter speed then there is no benefit from using it. ISO 100 would be just as good and double your shutter speed). Some Nikon cameras have a base ISO of 64, but anything below that would be extended and not much use if you needed the fast shutter. Extended ISO comes into its own when you need longer shutter speeds ideally. People also forget that sticking a polariser on will take a couple of stops of light and having square / rectangle filters also acts as a sail to catch the wind and add to the movement. There are times when no filters and exposure blending will help get the shot (in extreme conditions - obviously not the case with your visit to Dungy Head)
Really appreciate you watching Dave and for your super detailed feedback. This was shot on the Canon EOS R (since switched to the R5) not a big fan of exposure blending so I try and avoid it where possible in favour of single exposures. Not saying I won’t do it, but I try not to at least ! The ISO L v ISO 100 debate is a tough one, I have to be honest and say I can’t see much of a difference between them but it’s a confidence thing for me and I feel better with extended ISO where possible but have no problem adjusting to higher ISO’s when conditions dictate it. Once again thanks very much for watching and commenting :) it’s really appreciated
@@DanielWretham Thanks for the reply Daniel. Agree that getting the shot in one take is much preferred :) I stopped using grad filters a few years ago as I got fed up with them misting up when out for sunrise shoots + they make a permanent change to the image that I cannot do anything about in post. I fully understand why people use them though :) The comment was more around them causing movement in the camera on windy days as they can catch the wind. Lens hoods can do the same if the wind direction is right. The extended ISO range is generated by the camera from ISO 100 (ISO 64 on most full frame Nikons) and is very useful for slow shutter speeds when doing long exposures. Do what gives you the confidence is always the way to go.

It’s deffo better for sunset but it’s nice to have it in the back pocket should the conditions allow for it, I do love it with light on it
Thanks for the video Dan. Did this location this morning as a result.
So pleased you gave it a go Paul, how did you get on ? Cracking location isn’t it !
