What makes this even more frightening and unsettling is the fact that, in most situations, Becky and Tom would be a great couple to help a scared, lost child. Tom is a father and a teacher, and Becky is a pediatric nurse. Even earlier in the show we see Tom standing up for Lex and trying to protect her before the riot broke out. If Hannah didn't have the doll, or it was still hidden in her backpack, maybe things would have gone differently. But at this point in the show Wiggly is so powerful that even the kindest of people with the best of intentions are corrupted by him.
Yeah, I wish they had motivated that transition with a scene of Tom and Becky getting converted by Wiggly. Some reviewers have said there are just too many characters in this show to develop properly (not that I'm criticizing - this is my favorite SK show)
Just by the way, the reason Becky missed Hannah with the hypodermic was Hannah was wearing Ethan's magic protective hat. It took a couple of viewings before I realized.
Fun fact about this musical: I actually fell asleep halfway through watching Black Friday for the first time (had a rough week at work and was REALLY tired, but also on a Hatchetfield kick, lol), and I woke up to this song. So imagine my surprise when I went from Tom and Becky being all sweet and kind, to THIS. It spooked me good, lol.
it’s funny that you say “it’s ok because this isn’t an actual kid”, i know you probably meant younger kids but fun fact hannah’s actress kendall nicole is actually the only minor that’s ever been in a starkid show to date! she was 15 when she was in black friday :)
honestly one of my favourite things Hatchetfield does is bc it has a large cast of characters who reoccur both as background, side and lead characters we get a lot of seeing how sinister someone can seem when we're not looking through their eyes, Tom and Becky are sympathetic and kind and caring, but theyre also very caught up in getting a doll, Tom has been under Wigglys spell to some extent since we first see him, and yet its only when we see things through Hannah's perspective we see that all his reasons for that don't stop him from being scary as fuck. Also fun to go the other way such as when we get other stories during nightmare time and starkid's short film Workin' Boys seeing Linda in a more sympathetic light
Love this part cause ahh its so creepy! And Kendall was such an amazing actress, even at 14. Insane that she is my age (we're born months apart), 14 year old me could never hahaha (tbf English the language would've been the first issue for me-)
Love seeing you again! I just love seeing the actors wandering around the audience in this one, something that happens quite alot in Starkid shows actually
Every time I watch your analyses I learn something new. Now when I listen to a singer I am thinking "what type of training?" and "what is their comfort zone?". Went back and watched the songs and I see what you mean, they seem to "come out of nowhere", in the middle of the action or dialog. I think the most creative example is Lex's lament _Black Friday_ . I think you have said you have taught it before, but I hope you are still planning to examine it in this series? It's so powerful.
I saw this video last night and I had to put a link here so Corey could get his redemption of Doors Are Open song. This is from a starkid live show where he performs and sounds so much better Link: th-cam.com/video/oJhhL_aQBQs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gZX-WE1gOgQvJbEe

@@singwithAshleyit's understandable all of his songs are so unique and his vocals are amazing, he can go from a really deep voice to a higher pitched one flawlessly!

I figured it was either that or Hannah herself (nightmare time spoilers so I won’t say more). Or even Webby.
I didn’t even think the hat was actually magical! I guess I’m still learning the rules of this universe! So cool! 😎
@@singwithAshley I see it as Hannah believes the hat is magic, so now it is magic.
Given who nightmare time implies gave Ethan the hat, you may be right
Thanks, everybody! I never thought of that. Hannah herself is magical, and is protected by Webby
FunFact: Wiggly and Webby are canonically siblings!

jon does such a good job playing wiggly
i think he did the vocals live every show as well so it wasn’t prerecorded
Funfact *if you dont already know): Kendall Nicole, the girl that plays Hannah was about 13-14 years old in this!
What a kid! Definitely thought she was a short adult!

This song gives me the same vibes as "Slipping" from Dr Horrible. Which is my 2nd favorite from that musical!
Never seen it!

I am at least 90% sure their acting direction for this song was just to scare the audience as much as possible hahaha

🤣🤣🤣 I don’t blame you! And I didn’t remember! And I also just thought Ethan was being nice!! not the hat actually being magical!! So sweet!
There's a nightmare time episode that kinda hints more that the hat does in fact have a more magical source/power
