Hello. I'm from Valencia and I can tell you a little about the situation here. The city of Valencia itself is not affected by the floods, but the situation is chaotic. A few kilometers from the city centre the area is completely destroyed, we are living in an apocalyptic situation. Although the city is not affected by the floods, there is a lot of chaos, roads are cut off, there are a lot of police and even the army, and there is a lack of supplies. If the race could be held, which I hope it could be, it would be very difficult to organise all the infrastructure. Anyway, I hope we can recover quickly and the race can be held, and I am sure there will be charity events to raise funds for the people affected. I wish you the best of luck Ben, this is going to be your race!
It's great that you're sponsored by SOAR. But I can pay a month's mortgage with what I would spend on an outfit from them, lol. A little out of my reach atm
enjoying your marathon training content.... decided to go out for a run myself last Monday and ended up doing the full marathon distance...my first ever...and since discovered I can do the virutal NYC marathon in 2025 to qualify for 2026....beyond excited about that
Excellent, well done, Sensible pace. Nice to have some company! Reminds me of one on my biggest marathon prep sessions when on a very windy day I sought shelter on a one mile loop and ran 25 miles at 6.45 mins pace, Much the same as you here I think, But I didn't finish with MP. I'm sure the Valencia organisers will do all in their power to make sure the race takes place. But no doubt many will critisise their efforts. You could always stretch this training run to 42 Ks at 100% I suppose! Best of luck whatever Terry Lonergan,
Nice one Ben , thank you. All the best for the rest of the training block and I hope Valencia will happen for you and heartfelt sympathy for the people in Valencia .
Hi Ben - have you figured out which race you're doing instead of Valencia? I'm also looking for alternatives after the impending cancellation. Málaga and Pisa look good.
hi Ben! love your running videos. Will you be testing out the Coros Pace Pro soon? Will love to hear your comparison of the Coros Pace Pro and Pace 3 usage especially for runners. Thanks!
Solid long run, bringing back fond memories of earlier this year before my marathon in April, really got to love and look forward to the long runs! Specifically more so the fully steady ones - however the pick ups on tired legs are so beneficial just bloody hard 😂 I also get nervous the days before when I see it on the plan...but gotta get it done.
Hey Ben, how long did it take you to build up to that weekly mileage? I tried to build my weekly mileage and pace a little too fast last time (well that paired with other factors) and it led to muscle imbalance. Kinda terrified to build too fast, especially cause I’m still doing and needing PT while building up😬
Great video and a massive session, thanks Ben! Perhaps you were going to talk about it later, but could you share some thoughts on the Adios 4? I'm considering them and Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris for my next marathon. Being a huge fan of the alphas 1, sadly have to move on as the 3s gave me awful blisters 😢
@@BenIsRunningthank you! That'd be incredibly helpful. (I know we're all different when it comes to shoes, but it's good to see reviews of people one respects). Best of luck with the rest of your prep, I do hope Valencia happens!
My thoughts are with the people of Valencia. We’ll find out next week if the marathon is going ahead. If so, see you there! Envious that your easy pace is 4:10/km. That’s my flat out 5K pace!
Was actually saying on this run how crazy that 4:00/km now feels comfortable where as 4 years ago I couldn’t hold it for 5k and would be dead on the floor afterwards. Training 📈
Would love to know how you think about running a group for crucial runs. Your HR usually goes up when talking etc., does it affect anything? I sometimes also like running with groups but for focused runs I don’t like talking and HR spikes up a lot
Here I combine the two. Chat when taking it relatively easy but when the pace picks up it’s time to work. I prefer company as it just makes it go so much quicker and feels ever so slightly easier having that accountability. From my time in Kenya, they barely ever run solo 👀
hey man i love the way you run the posture everything i admire you actually I am preparing for police inspector job in INDIA i really need a suggestion from you which is the best shoe to run a 1600mts race thank you lots of love man all the best for VALENCIA MARATHON keep rocking may god bless you
A half 3-4 weeks out is often a pretty common practice in people’s training block as should give you time to fully recover. My advice would be though if you’re not planning to taper down for it, don’t go all out. A 80-90% effort say but preserve enough for good training in the weeks that follow.
@ ok I’m buying one to go with my pace 3. I wanna do heart rate training. How fast does it update the heart? They say arm monitor is 2-3 seconds, chest strap is instant
@@Ennis09I don’t know about timings but the arm monitor is great, very comfortable and I’m sure more than accurate enough for your needs. Thoroughly recommend.
Must be a thing 🎉 with all the tubers I follow are based around London Essex area… come on the north, where are tubers from the north, or even the midlands 😂😂
Don’t see why my ‘financial status’ is relevant. I don’t set the prices at soar so to be honest get a little fed up defending them but we’re talking about the best of the best here. Think luxury sports car but in running apparel. For the premium quality of the apparel they offer that’s never going to come cheap to design, to source material, to manufacture. There’s plenty of cheaper options agreed but all I can say is I’m fortunate to try pretty much the entire running industry’s apparel through my work and soar is unmatched. I’ve brought soar apparel with my own money yes but through collaboration I get gifted apparel :)

I like to meditate on Ben's legs as he runs; my hope is that if I stare and absorb his form and rhythm for long enough, maybe I can manifest both of those qualities in my runs, as well! Would that I were so lucky! ;) (Also: Had no idea the British coast was such a lovely place to run!)
I was wondering the same? People is now in pure shock down there and terribly traumatized, busy on helping their neighbors... I wonder how the marathon organizers will respond to it. I hope they treat the city and people in it with respect.

But you’re going to have to run 42.2km at ‘your marathon pace’ so what will running 3 miles at the end of a run tell you ? 😮 The training ideas are quite bizarre. I guess we all have our own way of doing things.
The point is to introduce fatigue into your body then push the pace to simulate how youre going to feel at the end of your race and train pushing through fatigue
Correct. You build fitness during the block but with the comes fatigue. Come race day you take all that fitness with a lovely taper- the paces your hitting in training become achievable on race day for much longer duration. I’ve ran 42k at this marathon pace (3:25/k) so trust me, it’s worked before 🤣

The Soar kit looks fantastic. Unfortunately for non-sponsored runners - sooooo expensive!!
Totally fair. It’s a premium product with a higher than average price tag. You get what you pay for with soar imo
Terrible pricing, inaccesible

Thanks for your advice Ben! I really appreciate it.
so the puma nitro elite was never coming out for a race after all that "testing"
Hi Ben I’ve got a good deal 50% off for Brooks Glycerin Max or 30% off for New Balance 1080 v14. Which one should I get in your opinion?
The glycerin max is cheaper with the discount but I loved the 1080v13 I can’t decide 🤯
The v14 would be my pick
@ thanks Ben! Will go for that cheers
Hi Ben what about if it will get cancelled? Plan B?
Will continue training but probably focus on a 10k/half. London marathon will be the next big focus :)
@BenIsRunning why don't you switch for Florence marathon on 24th November? It's one of the best in Italy!
