This might sounds silly, but is Metal Slug used to be in Sega Joypolis in Tokyo, for anyone who lives in Japan and ever visited that place in the 90s-2000s? I knew that place used to have third party arcade games not just from Sega, but also Bandai Namco (formerly known as Namco), Taito, Capcom, and even Konami. So, I was wondering if Joypolis used to have SNK games too, including Metal Slug.
