I recall back in 2015, before Lovebites existed, Miho and Haruna (who had been bandmates in Destrose, a band I saw live a number of times) went into a studio and for fun laid down some tracks of covers of metal songs such as "Painkiller" and "Eagle Fly Free". Nothing came of that session commercially, but it was a seed that eventually germinated and flowered into Lovebites.
@@otobokegaijin6218 Good morning Otoboke-san. Yep, YT is blocking my posts on Mr. B's reaction apparently, frustrating. I was just wondering if you had heard of the person who wrote the lyrics to AMA-TE-RAS?
They did a phenomenal cover of Judas Priests Painkiller. Top class performance of Every member in LOVEBITES. I'm happy that i bought In The Beginning The Best Of 2017-2021. Which including the Painkiller cover.🔥🤘🤘🔥 🎸🎸🎹🥁🎤🎸🎼 ❤
This is more than a cover, more than a tribute. This is spectacular!!! I've always enjoyed Death's cover of this song, but it pales in comparison to Lovebites. I dare say Lovebites version is the equal of the original. They kept the tone so true to the original. Rob is Rob, Asami is Asami. She, as a female, did Rob perfectly. I agree that Lovebites can probably attack most anything. Foghat - loved "Slow Ride". Fun reaction.
Foghat was Great Live.. saw them with Wet Willie as opening band many years ago....It was Foghats "Fool for the city" tour.. And Yes. The undisputed Metal Goddesses, Lovebites absolutely crushed it Painkiller, and no doubt in my mind they'd slay it live !
If I heard this without the vocals, I would swear this was actually Judas Priest performing this. Lovebites puts their unique stamp on this song with a Japanese lady on vocals that works just as well as Halford's performance. What Asami did here was impressive, there can be no singer that could top Halford's vocals for this song, but Asami crushed it as did Haruna and all the guitarists in this cover. I don't think there ever will be a better cover than this. 🤘🔥🔥💥💥
I completely agree. I actually think the solo work is much cleaner than Priest's version! And I was very proud for Asami for taking on this song. She sounded great!

Oh RC, your reaction never let me down. Brilliant review. I'm glad that you enjoyed this with Asami Halford. I thought Glory To The World wouldn't be possible in live but they did, Winds From Transylvania and Judgement Day were the same. Why not Painkiller. I'm looking forward to your next reaction. I'm sure I'll enjoy it what ever you are going to play.

It was obvious that you enjoyed that assault on your eardrums 😆🤘🔥Great cover! I think it's funny how Asami sounds like she's singing "painkirrah" during most of the song, but closer to the end she starts to sing "painkiller" 😁 I have no doubt that they would pull this off live, their song Winds of Transylvania is pretty close in speed and intensity to Painkiller, and if they can make that one seem easy to play live, Painkiller shouldn't be a problem.
When Miho and Haruna were trying to start a new band, they were introduced to Asami through a friend who sang R&B, etc. Asami knew almost nothing about metalrock, they had her make a demo tape singing Helloween - Eagle Fly Free, Judas Priest - Painkiller, Halestorm - Love Bites, Iron Maiden - Aces High, Whitesnake - Bad Boys. After hearing this, they chose asami as the vocalist for their new band. In an interview article, Asami said, "About Painkiller I wondered if it was really a song".

Awesome reaction. You were feeling it! I (bass player) was auditioning/rehearsing with a rock cover band and the subject of JP came up. Somebody played Green Manalishi on their phone. I gave the opinion that nobody could cover Rob Halford's high range. The adult male singer said, "I can", and right there sang the epic lines perfectly. So, we learned the song. The guitar players covered it fine. The bass isn't hard.
Great reaction. I went to the expense of buying the most limited edition of “In The Beginning” because this was a single CD added bonus. It was this time of year in 2022 that it finally arrived and I played it the minute I got the box opened. Aside from being in awe of what I was listening to, I was not in the least bit surprised. It was EXACTLY how I expected it to sound, though of course expectation and experience are two totally different things. Asami has improved as a vocalist in the two and a half years since this was laid down. Yes, honestly.
