@dat8r1 single engine jet like jas39 gripen may only perform role of fighter. 2 engines means more thrust, heavier loads, may perform both roles of fighter and bomber.
Amazing aircraft. I see this, and it is what the EF-2000 could have been. The Rafale's capabilities far exceed the Eurofighters now. The French have some seriously cool weaponry.
@HudsonM1A2 if you get shot and one of your engine damaged, highly unlikely you can fly home because your enemy will finish you off. biggest advantage of 2 engines jet is that it may perform both fighter and bomber role.
@RomaniaTricolor To be fair, the I agree on the part about the Rafalé being able to be a more effective navy fighter than the Gripen, but so far, the Gripen hasn't had any crashes or emergency crash landings due to engine failure, and this is with over 130 000 flight hours. One of the things that Volvo Aero has modified about the General Electrics motor is more thrust and above all, much higher reliability. One Engine gives less weight = better maneuverability, and it's much cheaper.
@RomaniaTricolor I know that SAAB wants a very reliable aircraft with extraordinary maneuverability, being cheap to operate yet very competent, and for high risk missions it should be able to have internal weapon bays and for low risk missions it will be able to have external pods which will be very easy to mount and will take very little time to convert into. It should be able to reach a maximum speed of mach 2.5 or 3 and whether or not it's a dual engine or a single engine system is unknown
@RomaniaTricolor So the best thing for Brazil to do is to replace their F-5's with the Gripen having very similar performance to the Rafalé but being easier and cheaper to maintain, and being able to be integrated with the SAAB Erieye radar system co-operation with Brazils Embraer jet. Later on when Brazil needs to update their Navy A-4 skyhawks, the Rafalé would be the perfect choice, being easier & cheaper to maintain and fly than the F-18E/F. Brazil already has multi-plane training anyways.
@oiseautempete im im not mistaken (and btw im not since im looking at my comment) i said that it reminds me of the typhoon. i was in no way comparing the two aircraft on anything apart from looks
Well, I'm brazilian, and truly, I'd rather grab the Rafale! Though twin engines need more maintenace and consume more fuel, the advantages surpass the disadvantages. More thrust and reliability are always welcome. Also, if you get shot by an enemy, if it disables one engine, well, you have the second one to come back home, and hopefully land safely, saving both our taxes and the pilot's life (the ejector seat also works well, but is a "little" more expensive)
@chenoir Don't say "oops" until you jump the creek! Remember what the americans did with Bell UH-1 Y Venom and Bell AH-1 Z Viper? They share 85% identical components commonality! Just download the pdf files of the 2 helis from Bell site. It's so cool. I'm not talking about the immediate capacity to change the 1 and 2 engines (rail sliding?) modules depending on the mission (obviously this could be an ultimate goal) but just having two types with high increased commonality.
@PanzerMonium This information seem to be outdated or i'm mistaking But in Fx1 bresilian arforce prefer Rafale in Fx2 they prefer Gripen And recently (maybe after some exchanges with Nelson Jobim) the prefer again the rafale
@RomaniaTricolor Yeah that would be amazing, even though it might seem as somewhat impossible. But who knows, Sweden (SAAB), France (Dassault), Great Britain (BAE), Germany (Messerschmitt), Italy and Australia has all signed a treaty on the co-development of a (5.5 - 6:th) Generation fighter jet meaning they'll share their drawings and technology with eachother. In Sweden, the prototype is to be done no later than 2020, having done its first flight in 2030 and by 2040 have been fully delivered
@RomaniaTricolor It's not possible. It's not a matter of having more thrust or whatever. But conceiving a plane for 2 engines is totally different than conceiving it for 1 engine. The avionics, the balance of the aircraft, the aerodynamics, everything is set to be used with a certain number of engines. So having an aircraft using one or 2 engine, depending of the mission, is not really conceivable.
@wellerocks Note to ourself. For the future, someone should build a jetfighter with one kick ass modular frame capability to work with: - 2 engines module; -1 engine module(the extra space will be for fuel and obviously the carrying weapons capacity will be lower than the twin engine one or a small number of pilons for example or the extra space should be used for a stealth internal carried air-to-air missles. Duh! :) Imagine 2 "identical" jetfighters: a single and a twin engine one.
@Alexvideoclip all about the politics. Finland, Swedens neighbors, bought the F-18 over the Gripen eventhough the Gripen was better in almost all aspects for Finlands needs. Finland atleast had the curtesy to describe afterwards that the choice was a 100% political. The United States blocked an export of Viggens to India in 1978 by not issuing an export license for the RM8/JT8D engine, forcing India to choose the Sepecat Jaguar instead
@Alexvideoclip And just recently, America screwed Sweden and SAAB over again when they made sure a certification of some radar wasn't renewed in time. Hence, they bought the F-35 instead. And when Sweden was about to sell JAS 39 Gripens to Austria, some Swedish reporters uncovered a bribe to a Austrian count that had a prominent factor in the deal, which lead to the Eurofighter having won the deal (Even though it was BAE systems that bribed the count, and not SAAB employes)
@chenoir Let's take Brasil's example. Just imagine that Saab JAS-39 Gripen will be in fact a single engine Rafale. :) The choice is more clear now: "aaah, yeah, i'll take 24 single engine Rafales and 48 twin engine, please" :) What is twin engine Rafale with a malfunctioning one in the air? A single engine one with extra weight! We already have the avionics to cope with different weight loss, stability, fuel consumtion during flight mission.
It's official! Rafale for Brasil! How do I know? Easy. Romania has announced recently that it wants 24 F16 Block 25 for 1.3 billion euro(all inclusive). Saab just know had made an announce that it will offer 24 Gripens for 1 billion euros(initial 2 billions-all inclusive, 100% offset). This means that they have lost the brazilian contract(FAB needs twin engine no matter what!)
@HudsonM1A2 quality has it price , man ! so Brasil can buy cheaper fighter like Gripen ! why not ! go on Brasil ! if you need discount price , Brasil needs to wait for 20 years , ok ? maybe in this time , France would make you a good and cheap price ! :-)
Interessting, i remark some daily give a new nickname "the hammer" to rafale, because its efficience100% with assm bomb (hammer) to splash Gadaffi taret.

nice video. the french have some lethal weapons. with the rafale being one of my favorite fighters
The French have some seriously cool weaponry.
loved it ...thanks for sharing the rafale is a good looking fighter
Sou brasileiro e prefiro o Rafale!
@HudsonM1A2 if you get shot and one of your engine damaged, highly unlikely you can fly home because your enemy will finish you off. biggest advantage of 2 engines jet is that it may perform both fighter and bomber role.
Great looking aircraft!
@PanzerMonium
I think Brazil should buy both aircrafts. Gripen for the maintenance and Airforce andRafale for the aircarrier
Cool video! Kinda reminds me of my time about the USS Midway, USS Kitty Hawk and USS George Washington.
c'est génial,very good !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@RomaniaTricolor To be fair, the I agree on the part about the Rafalé being able to be a more effective navy fighter than the Gripen, but so far, the Gripen hasn't had any crashes or emergency crash landings due to engine failure, and this is with over 130 000 flight hours.
@RomaniaTricolor
Plus, the new Gripen NG has the same american engine(...by Volvo) as F18 Superhornet E,F,G
great video.
Superbe video, malgré quelques exagerations =) Pourquoi une voix feminine xD A quang des dogfight rafale vs F22?
@oiseautempete im im not mistaken (and btw im not since im looking at my comment) i said that it reminds me of the typhoon. i was in no way comparing the two aircraft on anything apart from looks

@ollonsvin Some fresh news or just your guessing?

Brazil is supposed to announce the winner after the Passover. Any news?
@Alexvideoclip
it's called lobbying anf business.. has nothing to do with quality and efficency

wat is its designator? im determined to find out lol
damn I love this plane :)

It's just said that Rafale is a great carrier plane made for it and for combat...

It can`t carry weapons????

@Alexvideoclip
1) geopolitics
2) cost
@Alexvideoclip And just recently, America screwed Sweden and SAAB over again when they made sure a certification of some radar wasn't renewed in time. Hence, they bought the F-35 instead. ^^
@chenoir Let's take Brasil's example. Just imagine that Saab JAS-39 Gripen will be in fact a single engine Rafale. :) The choice is more clear now: "aaah, yeah, i'll take 24 single engine Rafales and 48 twin engine, please" :)

Rafale is amazing....F-15,sokhoi sux...
A juste titre, la voix off s'étend sur l'extrême agilité que lui procure la configuration canard/delta. it reminds me of the typhoon
There is still a little work to do on French Speaking, but nice try ^^.
Greetings from Paris.
(Ah, and always is "toujours" in French).
@HudsonM1A2
quality has it price , man ! so Brasil can buy cheaper fighter like Gripen ! why not ! go on Brasil !
if you need discount price , Brasil needs to wait for 20 years , ok ? maybe in this time , France would make you a good and cheap price ! :-)

Missile Air-Air "Mica"
Bombe propulsé "Apache"
Missile Air-Air/Air-Sol "Shrapnell"
Bidon de Kérosène Léger de 1750L
Bidon de Kérosène Lourds de 2000L

@vacavirda2 , Said a Spain man, which has a ridiculous tiny non-nuclear aircraft carrier. LOL
