    The more you listen to Angelina, the smaller the number of "good singers" becomes. I have heard so much Angelina, that now even the best, most famous, most acclaimed singers seem to be missing something. There is some bit of magic that Angelina has in her voice that I can not find in any other voice.

      Angelina is the only singer with that Magic voice that grabs your heart and you hang on or life. A new singer on the block is Daneliya who is the frontrunner to win AGT 2020. She is getting rave reviews so good that you would think people are describing Angelina. Versatile, powerful, great vocal control, etc. yada.yada, yada, It is a fact that the 12 to20 crowd spend the most money on music. Just when Angelina gets a record deal along comes another competition for the almighty dollar that can make ,or break a new artist. Angelina's fan base is mostly people over 30 to 80. We have to turn out to help her by buying out record stores that sell her CD's (Target sells Republic Records artists like Taylor Swift) so the minute Angelina's albums come out target will get them. Please everybody we must support her all we can. I will buy 6, and give 4 away to friends, and neighbors. She helps us so very much,we love her so very much!!

    Yes you are so right. Angie can slow it down, knowing that it only makes the song better because she knows that her voice is so beautifully melodic. Imagine knowing that your voice is so good as a musical instrument that you don't really need musical instruments. This child is music.

  • @billmecorney
    @billmecorney 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    She is a power we haven't seen in a very long time. Yes, Tempo....she effortlessly takes a song apart, and puts it back together using tempo and transition. She livingly invites us along in her unassuming genius. She is sooooo.....natural. Simple yet creative. Her control isn't control, it is.....command. I especially like her songs of faith. She is a vessel, and a connection to the muse.

      Hi Nate. Yep, I wait longingly for the next chapter, the next evolution of this brilliant young lady. As to slow. I worked as a bouncer at a night club long ago. Met my share of angry drunks. The very best way to present is to talk softly, and slowly. Changes everything. We are so used to fast paced life, we crave soft and slow. AJ is a master of the seductive change in our experience we long for. Delicious.

  • @Mr.DamianM
    @Mr.DamianM 4 ปีที่แล้ว +60

    Don't worry Nate, we're listening. Lady Gaga sang this song on the Jimmy Fallon show in 2014 right about the time AJ was announcing her presence to the world. Gaga slowed it down quite a bit too but I found it almost intolerable. When Angelina sings it, it's like a balm, or a salve, or a soul massage you don't want to end. This 10-year-old was, and is soooooo much better than so-called superstars.... sorry, don't mean to make it a comparison, but my goodness, what. a. singer!

    • @johnvasi
      @johnvasi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Damian Your comment made me find the Lady Gaga version. I think Lady Gaga has incredible musical talent. But she slowed this song down so much that the melody got lost. Another thing: Gaga sang it in a sorrowful cadence and phrasing. Angelina sang it as a reminiscence of how the goodbyes are bittersweet, but the remembrances even give us a rare smile from Angelina. It’s one more amazing thing about Angelina. The ten year old gives us a beautifully nuanced interpretation that leaves us feeling calmed and even upbeat, while still delivering the feelings of separation from a loved one.

    • @todradmaker4297
      @todradmaker4297 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@johnvasi I think the reason Lady Gaga's slowed down version loses the melody is because she gives too much space between the lines. The real beauty of this piece is the subtle melodic differences between the lines. Angelina has the musical understanding to respect that connection while slowing it down.

    Be You, Talk away!! This is my absolute favorite Angelina cover💜. Angelina has a sense of patience when she sings. She appropriately let's the song build and bloom in it's own timing. Leaving the listener with a fuller experience of the song. That is an underrated skill.

    I feel that this performance is particularly good because of the outdoor setting that somehow is so intimate, the soft natural light. The emotions are so real, she is saying goodbye to Oslo before a trip the the USA. I hope that she can visit Oslo in the not too distant future. The thing that I notice when Angelina sings, enhanced by slowing the tempo, is that she makes you understand the lyrics completely. I never thought about what Yellow Brick Road was really about until I heard Angelina sing it. She doesn’t throw away any words. On a song like this one, she is treating every word in the lyrics as though it’s key. Lyricists must love Angelina because she brings out what they’re trying to say. Having that unique mesmerizing, soothing voice doesn’t hurt at all, either.
    Yes, this is an Ella Fitzgerald song. Here is a mash-up of Ella and Angelina singing it. Yes-we can compare a 10 year old to the incomparable Ella. th-cam.com/video/U_uSOa7uM8k/w-d-xo.html She has definitely learned from the great singers, but it’s still 100% Angelina riveting us with a delivery and voice that still startles me even after I’ve listened so many times.

    Nate, you are so humble and genuinly curious and true to self.
    You are a beautiful mind and a kind of very rare smart talker-thinker-doer.
    You always offer to your viewers to share with you an intelligent conversation and food for thought. In that sense, Alan Papier and you are kindred spirits.
    We are blessed to be freely led by you in our journey to self-discovery through the awesome work trajectory of Angelina.
    These are some of the reasons i subscribed to your channel, the main one being your affection for Angelina.
    Her theme here is to be associated with her original song Oslo, that i like to call the new anthem of Norway and an ode to Oslo.
    To make a shift twice (at 6:12 and 7:32) from a low tone to a higher one, i notice that she needs to move her left arm somehow to operate the switch while staying in tune.
    I notice that, for the first time maybe, she smiles openly while she sings: she looks so very happy to be and to remain in the present moment.
    The Song for A is the finest piece of musical poetry that i have ever heard.
    Others slower tempo in a song would be California Dreamin, Wake Me Up, Moon River and Summertime (at 10 years old with an orchestra.)
    Stay safe and healthy, Nate!

    Haha! It's your channel, do what you like. Folks don't have to hang around if they're bothered. This is one of my favorite Angelina songs and, yes, I, too, want it to continue for much longer. Her voice is so sublime. Howie Mandel (who I don't give much credit to as a judge of talent), said on AGT that Angelina was hypnotic. That our only focus is on her and nothing else. I have to agree with that. Slowing it down only brings us more and more into her world. I get lost in her voice everytime. I lose sight of the background because I'm only focused on Angelina, Ella was pretty slow as well. The comparison between one of the greats and Ella, oops I mean and Angelina, a 10 year old, is striking. So good! Thanks.

Imagine painting pictures, there are some very talented artists, some stand out above others; then one day, some one appears and does a painting in 3-dimensions (3D) while everyone else paints in 2-dimensions (2-D). This is how Angelina stands out on her own. There are others who do the same (past and present), but not very many.

    I watched that video fifty times perharps, and it is the first time that I see clearly in Angelina's face and the tickness of her hair the beautiful trace of her rich armenian inheritance from her grandmother.
    In the seduction and attraction process, there is always one element dominating others that triggers progressively our full attention and the stirring of emotions: slowness.
    For what is done with speediness speedily passes, but what is done with slowness slowly engraves itself with the sign of timeliness.
    Angelina's songs have all an air of timeliness; they seemingly do not aged.
    The importance of seduction and attraction in our relationship with her does not lie in its novelty, but in its timeliness.

I too am always wanting the song to go on and sense their ending much too soon. Keep the reactions coming, and don't limit expressing your thoughts. It is what makes this whole medium so special.

    Her performance of this classic Cole Porter (1935) song is simply Fantastic! And she's 10. WOW! One of the strengths (IMO) of Angelina is her restraint. As you said, she likes to slow it way down; even songs that are already slow. She's just a master at doing that and creating something new. She has done that to perfection with "California Dreamin'". Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/EBI7Km3z7-U/w-d-xo.html Slows it way down, changes some notes, makes it acoustic with Ivan on the guitar, and gives it a bluesie, jazz vibe. And creates a brand new song---a MASTERPIECE! This is my favorite Angelina performance. She is 12 and this is one of the first performances with her Neumann microphone that she got for her 12th birthday. I hope you will react to it Nate. You won't be disappointed. Of course, you wouldn't be with any AJ performance you reacted to. Thanks mucho! 😊💕

    The only way I can describe Angelina's unique talents is to compare 2D to 3D - she adds a dimension to a song that changes it completely. It's obvious when you do a side-by-side comparison to other great singers. Her voice and technique and...something... makes the others sound two dimensional - flat and not nearly so inviting. She is a musical savant.
    Hmmm, what was I doing at 10 years old?

    When she does a classic Cole Porter number like this and its mid-way between pop and jazz she reminds me of Judy Garland. I think most people think of jazz when they think of Cole Porter but he cut his teeth on Broadway and you don't get any more pop than that. His songs are sophisticated yet accessible. She puts a little jazz phrasing on some parts but sings it straight for the most part. She seems to have some innate understanding of how to treat a song so that it's original intent comes out. Like a great chef who makes a classic recipe but still make you feel like you've never really tasted it before.

    Interesting that you notice the similarities between this one and Yellow brick road. Yes she makes sure we hear the lyrics and we feel the meaning as she can relate it for us in every song she does. Yellow brick road was her good-by to AGT. The show had already made concessions to her to get her on allowing her to retain rights to the songs she did on the show but the negotiations for her to go on and possibly win [and yes the shows are rigged] broke down as any contract was too constrictive. She refused to sign so Yellow brick road was the perfect song for her to choose to say good by. She changed one word from the original. The original was "I didn't sign up for you", hers "I didn't sign up With you". The camera takes a quick shot at Simon after that line, Howie in the comments [after the song] says I hope the supper fans vote for you, but we'll see what happens. Simon says You're decision was risky and I'll always remember that. And Howie and Simon go on this long dialog about how old the song Yellow brick road is. Seemed out of place to talk among themselves so much till you imagine the contract negotiations likely included the idea that she needed to do more "sale-able" more modern songs. The record deal she has now signed, no doubt is much better than Simon was offering and no intimidation was going to work to take her their way. Yellow brick road says it all. Angelina says it all every time she sings. Truly a gift to the human race. She must be protected by natural forces and sharing her with as many as we can is our way of helping the world when you think about it. Two interesting anecdotes: ; She did want to sing for Simon. When she was just 3 years old and she saw Simon on TV for the first time, she turned to her mom and said I want to sing for him. Her mom had to sweetly tell her your too young. Maybe when your older, ...so her journey to him was born ..and in a large part to allot of the rest of the world! [after her recognition from NGT] [part of natures plan it sure seems for her to be recognized by many more] And another to share; Many try to explain AJ's talent and most use words like out of this world, re-incarnated, old soul, alien, and so forth. I think all are trying to say the same thing. Here's what she has to say: At twelve in an interview when asked the first question "when I see you on stage I wonder who do you feel that you become?" [fishing for a particular artist, I'm sure] Her answer was: "When I sing I go to another world. It’s ...in the world it’s like an endless. It's amazing. It's like full of happiness. And I love ...It's amazing." [her exact words] She brings that world to us, just for a time when she sings. Whatever you believe that place she goes to may be. Great to have you on the journey. Just subscribed. Thanks for sharing.

      Indeed, I totally get what people mean by "angel" and "from another planet"... In fact, I almost wrote a short story about how she came from another world... However, I generally prefer to think of her as human, subject to foolishness and error... It makes her performance and her innocence that much more impressive. She is a marvel.

    Nate - Another great reaction to Angelina. I am so happy you chose to do this one. You are right, it was Ella who sang the definitive version on her 1956 recording, "Ella Fitzgerald Sings The Cole Porter Songbook". There were two volumes of it and they both became instant classics. Never feel like what you want/have to say isn't important. As long as you feel it is relevant, you have the right to say it. Let the naysayers go to other channels. You're too good for them anyway. If you want to hear Angelina really slow something down, react to her cover of Chris Isaac's "Wicked Game" (the black and white version). It is a literal masterpiece. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/5IAMF4FDfw4/w-d-xo.html . Thanks again for sticking with Angelina. We fans can't get enough of your comments!
