- Presenting my favorite riffs/sections from Darkthrone`s first six studio albums, "Soulside Journey», "A Blaze In The Northern Sky», «Under A Funeral Moon», «Transylvanian Hunger», «Panzerfaust» and «Total Death». Some of the songs have been transposed from their original tuning, in order for all of them to be performed on a E standard tuned guitar.
Been 20 years this year, since I witnessed Darkthrone`s final gig at Rockefeller music hall in Oslo. Making this tribute was a bloody must!

Music originally written and composed by Gylve «Fenriz» Nagell and «Ted «Nocturne Culto» Skjellum.
Gear used:
Gibson Explorer T w/496R and 500T PUs, Fractal Audio System`s AXE-FX 2, using their Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ amp. SADOWSKY 5-string NYC bass through a Line 6 Bass Pod Pro. Toontrack`s Superior Drummer 2.0. used for drums.
Recorded and produced using Logic Pro 9.
Visuals recorded using an iPhone 6S and a GoPro Hero 4 Silver Edition camera. Audio and film mashed together using Final Cut Pro X.

Watched this a year ago and it inspired me to play a guitar i bought an acoustic and it was so hard but i kept practicing and two months got my first electric guitar a fender strat and learned how to play deathcrush and started to gain a passion now i watch your tributes and copy how to play the songs and ive been play guitar for 6 months now and i can play songs like under a funeral moon amd transilvanian hunger thanks to this video

It has always been one of my favorites. I always wondered if others felt the same.
that song really seemed to me like the best BM song for so long, that riff and its attached ones are indescribable. Combined with some of the best bm 4/4 drum beats and all the temp changes make it probably the perfect song. also the intro adds so much
I prefer the "true face of evil" riff in the same song if you remember...both of them are amazing...shoutout to the best black metal band ever.
Its heavy as fuck! And so awesome! The only heavier riff IMO, is the intro to A New Level by PanterA. It sounds like the gates of hell are opening!

Honestly this is the best cover/tribute of any band I've ever witnessed. Brilliant playing, great choice of songs, brilliant editing/mixing... I could go on. Shows how much effort you put into this and, like myself, how much you love Darkthrone!
Only thing that would have made it perfect was a song or two from Goatlord, because for me that's a record with tremendous potential. Much respect! :)

I kinda lost track of Darkthrone after '96, which is why I focused on the first 6 albums. I dig the newer stuff too though, so my fandom is still intact! 😊
Respect for you man and your work, but dont you like Hate Them, Sardonic Wrath or The cult is alive? Some of the most pure Darkthrone songs are in them ;)

A blaze in the northern sky is vigorous. Under a funeral moon is majestic. Transilvanian Hunger is epic, transcendental.
Panzerfaust is juggernaut.

Darkthrone needs re-recorded version of their old legendary albums !
They'll never do it because the lo fi production is part of the charm, but I would honestly love to hear it. Listening to these riffs in high quality makes them even better.

I prefer them the way they are. The hypnotizing think about eg. Moon and Hunger are the punky, lofi riffs and production.

Nice playing. Majestic Desolate Eye is quite underrated, that intro is so good. Although the whole album is quite underrated. But damn that drum sound irks me , reminds me of freakin st anger.

Microdomus™ Alright cool. That reminds me , found this BM band called Bilskirnir, one man band , that is influenced by Burzum. I recommend the song called Blood and Spirit. And you are probably aware of the band Neonum. Would be cool to see you cover some songs from those bands in the future.

Do you remember fro 96 what Ted was using on stage guitar wise, amps, and pedals? I trust it was an Explorer with a Marshall 800 or 900
Not sure about which amp, but he used a sunburst Gibson Explorer (which is why I’m using a similar guitar in this tribute)
