I was in bed at 10pm my mum saw it on the uk news and came upstairs to tell me, I ran downstairs and sat in front of the tv. I cried for a whole week. Elvis died 10 days before my 15th birthday. I knew then I would never get to see him perform as I was going to go to the US when I was 18 and working earning my own money. A very sad day one I won’t forget.😢

I was 14yrs old when he passed away. My Mum was listening to the Radio & heard the News, came into my room to tell me with tears in her eyes. It was a School day, I think I just walked around in haze all day. Many tears later. His Music has always been a great Comfort to me when upset, very calming..still is! I wrote a letter to Graceland at 14yrs & received a reply ( to Australia) by July 1977. Kept the Envelope & letter to prove it got there. My picture was signed in blue pen. I hoped Elvis saw it back then.. But now I'm older, I realize it could have been Office staff who signed it. I lived in Indy, was 20 and had just gotten home from work when I heard Elvis had passed. My dad had passed at age 54 8 months prior. I couldn't understand how such good people had to pass so young.

The song says “it never rains in Southern California”, but the day Elvis passed I was visiting a friend in Southern California, and it was raining. I had been to California a few times before and it didn’t rain, but it sure rained that day. My friend was at work, and I was at her apartment, listening to the radio and reading a book when I heard the news 😢😢😢. I’ll never forget that.

When Elvis passed. I was in the kitchen helping my mom.We always had the radio on when we cleaned. And when they announced it. I just froze and cried.
