Inspur cards aren't "fake" as such. They're using a licensed design, genuine LSI chips and are pretty well built (heatsinking is for server use, as you point out) P20 firmware might have been the issue. It's notorious for problems with SATA drives and the general recommendation is to downgrade to P19
@@ArtofServer They're widely described as such by people who don't understand how OEM licensing works. I agree it's return fraud in your case but the likely reason you got it was that the client regarded it as "fake" from a "returns not accepted" vendor (common for Chinese sellers) FWIW the Inspur cards _are_ cheap(*), but to be honest I'd avoid sas2008/3008 family for home use anyway The reason for saying that is they can't be turned to low power PCIe mode(**) and prevent the host computer from reaching sleep/low power modes This is especially germane if you want a silent PC - the ARM-based LSI controllers (9400 onwards) not only draw much less power than the PowerPC ones, but allow the host system to go to C6 modes too, so whilst there may be an "on paper" variation of 10W between the cards you can easily see 60-80W on the whole system In your position I'd sell the card cheaply with a 30 day warranty. Be interesting to see if the card overheats when in heavy use even in a server. Could do some side by side thermocouple tests LSI vs this card to see what temps they run.
I have one of those cards in my machine. Since there is almost pretty close to no options for cheap/budget DIY server products in Australia. This card was half the price of the others. I have not had an issue with this card. I put a 40mm fan on the heatsink, it keeps it nice and cool. I do think it is low of the buyer to send that back to you.
I'm sorry dude. That sucks. I've ordered stuff from you in the past and everything has been top notch! I'm happy to say i'm putting together hopefully a big order in the next few weeks!
Someone else said that too. However, I've had products shipped with logos from overseas and never had a problem. I'm not sure what the actual rules are or the reason for customs inspection to have issue with that.
New to your channel and this came as a recommended video, so I watched it. I hope you were able to dispute the theft and keep the money from the sale. As far as the tape over the logos... Louis Rossman touched on this years ago in several videos. The tape is there to cover the log and help slip past customs. Apple, in the context of his video, claimes all parts with their logo are clones, even if those parts are proven to be removed from trash and sold as used. Part of the anti-right to repair tactic, if you can't get parts, you'll buy new.

@@ArtofServer I have been enjoying it, learning a lot and possibly that I made a mistake, but, as you said.... life. Just gotta live and learn. One question I do have, and havent seen all your videos yet so not sure if it's been answered already. Many of the caser, including the possible 9305-24 I got, have a 4 pin header. What is that used for? I say "mistake" as the car runs really hot. Would like to 3D print a shroud and add a fan, but concerned that should a small fan fail, a shround would then assist in it's cooking. I was looking around when I found you to see if there was a way to add a fan and have it RPM monitored (4 pin header maybe?)
What an absolute bum. I purchased a card from you, got the wrong cables because I'm an idiot and didn't follow your advice and measure it but hey, that's up to me, wouldn't even think about returning them. The advice I got getting the controller working when I didn't plug it in correctly was second to none!! Please please keep up the fantastic work, was well worth the wait to get the gear into OZ.
Wow, that is messed up.... I bought a board off you that works great, and will be buying from you again in the future. I hope you get your money back. People are terrible.
My worst buy /sell transaction was buying a keyboard from someone who I thought I knew through Facebook and who I'd given positive vibes to when he was pretty ill. Basically he ripped me off to the tune of £450 for a dead DX-7 keyboard and swore red was yellow - it just did NOT work. Asking me to pay "freinds and family" should have been enough of a warning, but trust blinkered me.As he said "caveat emptor" - If I ever meet him, he will be eating pavement. Well done turning a bad experience into something of value in this video.
oh man that sucks! i'm sorry to hear that. it's one thing to get ripped off once in a while when you are selling thousands of items. but i think it stings more when it's a more personal transaction. thanks for watching! :-)
This happened to me on ebay as well, I sold a ~200 dollar item, the day they received it they opened a return, the package going out was 15 x 12 x 8 (larger item) what I received back was a plastic bag with random junk in it weighing about the same as the package I sent. I opened a case with ebay and of course they sided with the buyer as they always do (was a new ebay account as well).
sorry to hear that man. yeah, I told ebay and showed photos of what I received and told them to compare it to the photos in my listing. they still sided with the buyer and forced me to fully refund this buyer. i'm sure it stings more if you're just selling personal items. my HBAs are somewhat personal to me, but at least I'm selling thousands of these things so I can absorb the loss. thanks for sharing and watching my vid! :-)
@@ArtofServer Talk to a supervisor instead of regular representative and don’t do a call back as they will try to state that demand a supervisor and wait and don’t let up. They will eventually side with you. I dealt with cases like this a few times as a seller myself. I never even had to send pictures and won case even not as described cases. Tell them not item you sent period and they return a completely different one as return fraud? Tell them also they open case as changed mind. A good supervisor will put two to two together. I also look at feedback he left for others as if he done it before sometime he leave bad feedback to them as retaliation? Also look to see if he a new buyer as well no feedback or very little?
Playing devil's advocate, the fact that the cables were sent with it, could it simply be a case of someone who ordered your card as well as this one, and returned the wrong card to the wrong seller?
maybe, but it would be nice if they communicated back and explained themselves. also, returning something to China from the US vs returning to California from the US should be pretty obviously different. maybe it was just cheaper for them to return to me instead of sending something back all the way to China? who knows...
I actually had that happen once and buyer screwed up thinking I sold him the item. I sold him a solder station and he returned to me a Rigol dp832 power supply that was defective? Needless to say I saw the feedback and he opened a return at the same time I knew he had the wrong seller as he mentioned defective power supply in feedback? Once received the item it was a Rigol dp832 power supply. I did contact him when I saw the feedback before receiving the item and he still assumed I sold him the power supply? Well did get it and sure enough was a like new Rigol dp832. I did contact him with pictures and showing the item I sold him. He still was convinced I was the seller that sold him the power supply which was worth way more then the solder station. eBay removed feedback and I got to keep the power supply, which did after waiting a couple months just in case the buyer wanted it back once he realized the mistake? I ended up repairing it and put it to use. Still to this day never heard back from that buyer?
I just saw your video and checked my card that I ordered in December and yes it had that funny gray tape covering the logo which I removed and discovered that the card was a FASTPCB. I thought I was getting a Fujitsu 9211-8i but that is not the case. Anyway I never used the card as I decided to go Hardware RAID for my latest Server build so the card just sat in it's original packaging. I may just install it just to see what it actually is. Thanks for helping me pique my curiosity.
As for the covering of logos, there is a sad trend in the US of them ceasing packages with logos as "counterfeit". Apple really loves to enforce this on Apple branded refurbished screens, calling them imported fake parts because they didn't authorize the importing of it, even if they were the original manufacturer, they just went to China to be fixed for whatever reason. So that is why stuff going to the US has logos covered to get through customs.
Louis Rossmann touches in this in a video titled: "Apple & Customs STOLE my batteries, that they won't even provide to AASPs." is the title of the video. Since YT hates links, at least giving the title should make it hit when you search for it at the very least, and you can read the US Customs letter. I have also seen this with Airsoft guns, where in the rest of the world, they can bear the Colt logo, but they are either removed, painted over or covered to enter the US due to this customs policy.
@@ArtofServer I can attest to this in the clothing industry. Fake clothing is often seized based on trademark infringement of the manufacturer's logo, as that is really the only "protected" element of the item. But yes, I have also seen it used by manufacturers to control the movement of genuine goods between different markets. Not just in the US, most countries have trademark enforcement treaties of some kind.
Maybe I'm just gullible. but given it's a nicer card and with cables, and packaging is decent, my bet is on buyer incompetence, or maybe they were delegating their shipping to someone else. Still not cool, and they should pay for shipping to fix the mistaken return, but maybe they weren't intending to defraud you
I am sorry this has happened to you. Unfortunately some people are just dishonest, I hope Karma bites them. I have bought many items from you, mainly controllers. Take a picture of the SN. Number post it with your add and invoice by putting it in the description, then take a picture of the card in shipping, across you have to make a add for each card, if the SN doesn't mach you when your case. but what do i know
Thanks. I do record all serial numbers in my production log generated by my firmware flashing system. I don't include sales receipt in the box as I don't like wasting paper and records are available to print from eBay if the buyer needs a paper invoice.
very difficult to find. extremely rare these days. I saw one sold on ebay a few months ago and it went for over $100! I do sell modified x8x8 risers with open slots so you can still install a GPU. there are a few vids on my channel showing how I do the cut if you want to try yourself.
Do you know of any solutions to cooling these LSI Cards in a workstation? i've seen some particular LSI Model 3D Printed parts but what in general will help cool these cards in a workstation?
In GPUs there is a fraud of GPU being a model VERY inferior and older but with a BIOS/UEFI that lies about what it is. How hard could be to do a fake firmware that lies about what it really is?
Hi, If my sas lsi 9201-8i card is not booting up and on checking it with sas2flash uefi utility i see a message that "Chip is is fault state, Attempting the host boot" then it says "Attempting host boot failed" ,, does it mean the card is bricked??
I wouldn't say bricked, which usually implies that some firmware is broken or corrupted. That sounds more like the card has failed in some way if host booting doesn't work. For example, if your SAS2008 chip has failed, and you try to boot the firmware it will fail like that.
@ArtofServer When i connect the card , sas2flash detects the adapter sas2008 but sas2flash unable to select the controller because this utility also says that controller is not operational and then i see that chip is in fault state message, so what are my options here? Use megarec and sas2flash to flash the firmware again or get a new card?
There's not much that can be done. EBay will not examine the details and adjudicate, their default process is to refund the customer. I can report the buyer, but that usually doesn't result in any action unless several sellers report similar problems with the same buyer in a short period of time.
Sellers always get screwed on eBay in situations like this. ebay mostly protects buyers and only on a few occasions have they compensated me for a loss, but that was outside of policy and procedure and mostly because I got a hold of someone who understood my situation and made an exception for me.
@@ArtofServer That's ridiculous. I get them being protective of buyers, but I feel like it should go both ways. I'm glad you do what you do, and will continue to buy from you even when cheaper sellers are available.
Regarding Supermicro cards, what do you think of the AOC-SASLP-MV8? I have two that've been running like champs going on a decade now. My only concern is that they get FIERY HOT. They also require a beta Windows driver that was never officially released to support drives over 4 TB. I tried posting the Supermicro link, but TH-cam auto-deleted my comment.
I don't have a lot of experience with those cards. They are not based on LSI controller chipsets, but rather a Marvell 6480 chipset. It's also very old, being a SAS-1 controller, and PCIe x4 only. If they are still working for you, then that's fine. But if you ever need to replace them, I think I would get something a little more modern.
@@ArtofServer There is a newer version of the card (the SASLP2), but it's probably old hat by now, too. TBH, I'm at a real crossroads and I don't know which fork to take. I have an old (back then it was brand new) Norco box that I modified to accept a large Corsair AIO. It worked out really well in the beginning, but I've lost at least six high-capacity drives in the last 6-8 months that have, according to SMART data, cooked themselves. I now highly suspect that my modifications made the Norco into a slow-bake oven and I'm going to have to get rid of it, especially since chia has permanently spiked drive prices into the stratosphere. Problem is whatever I get as a replacement will be directly attached to my TV in my living room as a media box, so noise is a critical factor. I can't have a system running Tinnitus-inducing Delta fans, as I already have a case of constant ear ringing and don't need an exacerbating factor. And all of the server-type chassis I've examined via Google images look to REQUIRE Delta or Delta-like fans since they force drives to sit in a tight metal cage with almost no air gaps for heat dissipation. As such, I'm seriously thinking of just getting a standard mid-tower PC case with an external drive bay solution, like the 10-bay Sabrent docking station (DS-UCTB [again, I'd post the link, but TH-cam would just delete my entire comment]), and completely ditch the idea of thinking I can run enterprise-grade hardware, especially on their own rightful and justifiable terms. I know various outlets have really, REALLY nice Supermicro chassis on offer, like the 846, but its placement in my living room is non-negotiable. So, uh, any advice?
I got lucky and found a Chinese seller, and I got 2 genuine LSI controllers from them as I used the tricks from Art of Server to identify it. So you can get lucky, but a lot of counterfeit stuff out there that may be good or bad. If the price is right, you can sometimes get away with a counterfeit part.
Glad you were able to use some info from my channel. There are decent vendors on that side of the pacific, but it's a bit of a wild west and you don't always know what you're actually going to get.
@@ArtofServer I first bought a Dell H700 RAID card from him, that one checked out, then I bought a LSI HBA that came back as original. Because of the success rate, my third purchase was placed with the same seller and I still got another original LSI HBA. The one thing I am having a hard time tracking down, is a good battery for the Dell H700 that isn't rotten / expired or any information on how to mod it to work or options.
I just wish you had more controllers on your store as I need to get 2x to support the 24 slot chassis I'm going to be buying. In a lot of cases you are down to 1 card remaining.
I showed ebay photos of what I got in return and asked them to compare to my listing photos. they agreed that it seems I didn't get back the item i sent, but their policy is to always refund the buyer as long as the return tracking shows delivered. so they refunded the buyer from my account. this is their usual policy, nothing new. same as every time this has happened in the past.
Just call eBay support and have claim reversed. Just the reason alone for he way he open the return as he changed his mind enough to prove your case. It harder when they do a not as described case? Like they will side with you once you explain in detail and likely let you keep the item as well?
eBay's default policy is to refund the buyer if the return tracking shows it was delivered. I showed ebay photos of what I got in return and asked them to compare to my listing photos. they agreed that it seems I didn't get back the item i sent, but their policy is to always refund the buyer.
@@ArtofServerYes but you can actually reverse the case so long you didn’t issue the refund and eBay did. Talk to a supervisor I dealt with a few like this and they always claim you can’t and usually have a supervisor dispute it and win cases. So long you haven’t done this a lot and have a history of issues a supervisor typically may side with you? The only time you can’t do anything is if you issue the refund and not eBay, then it a done deal.
Not sure why you are asking this question under this video? This video was NOT about counterfeit or fake HBA cards. That said, in my experience, the counterfeit cards usually are lacking in quality, such as smaller heatsinks, cheaper conductive materials, etc. And that's only what is visible, so who knows what other components they used sub-standard quality parts on that are not easily visually identifiable? Do they work? Yes, they usually do initially, although often flashed with incorrect firmware and using incorrect PCIe IDs, so they sort of work. But my biggest concern is probably their reliability and longevity, considering the cheaper components used. But since I don't use them, I don't have any data to share. The card is this video is not a counterfeit or fake card, it was just an Inspur card that I was not too familiar with.
Unfortunately shipping to eu is many times more than the product itself, for a 9200/78e you sell at around 50€, i pay 95-100€ in total, its more convenient to order from germany always under 15€ for shipping
Keeping doing the "Good" you are doing it will benefit you in the end. Sorry it happened to you, gave you a like hope you get millions of views to help pay for this fraud.
Thanks for the kind words! there are a lot more wonderful people in the world than bad, so that keeps me going. I appreciate your support! :-) thanks for watching!
yeah, I'm seeing more of these Inspur cards floating around on eBay. I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with them, but in this case the heatsink feels a bit small for a pretty hot chip.
@@ArtofServer True, I haven't found anything wrong with it. I have it running in a 2u server so the airflow is pretty good. I have 8 SSD's connected to it, I'm not sure if the HBA would run hotter on HDD's compared to SSD's.
I actually own this card, my first time putting it in I noticed errors up the wazoo on all the drives luckily I caught it before actually using it, So I can tell you the cables are trash (or at least mine where) replacing the SAS cables and you are correct the thing gets hot, theres a couple videos of people modding fans onto them and thats what I did, I also flashed it with what I think is the 20.00.70 firmware and the BIOS with it and its been a great little card. I dont know too much about this stuff but yea I grabbed mine on aliexpress so I was fully expecting a knock off figured Id start with that to make sure its right for my use case
glad this card is working for you. i don't necessarily think it is a "knock off" ... there are many OEMs that make their own SAS controllers based on the LSI/Broadcom chips. This includes Fujitsu, Supermicro, and Dell. HP/IBM/Lenovo seems to just use the LSI reference design and put a sticker on them. I think as long as you are cooling this card with enough airflow, it should work fine.
wondering if u know what is the best Raid controller that has support for for 32bit windows xp. current using an lsi 9260-8i and boy does that thing have a slow startup is there a newer card from lsi or another manufacture that supports xp that would have a faster boot up time.
Definitely the wrong card and it is slimy for buyer to do this, but you got the cables, and PCIE v3 card.. Could have been much worse (like an empty box). Sorry, but have a good day. Not every ebay buyer is bad... Thank you for your videos.
I agree. Hey, it gave me something to talk about in this video and checkout an Inspur card for the first time! :-) And yes, the vast majority of people visiting my store are awesome people! Thank you for watching!
Didn't you take photos of item sold and recorded certain serial number or markings of the card? Next time, make a statement in the item description. Please don't assume ALL THE BYERS ARE THE SAME. Sorry about your bad experience. Hoped that you did not make refund to that buyer.
It doesn't matter really. eBay policy is to refund the customer no matter what, as long as the tracking shows the return was delivered. thanks for watching!
My first purchase with Art of Server was a return. I bought the wrong card. It was totally me and 100% my fault. He was awesome with the return/exchange process. I'm sure I'm not the only idiot who has accidentally purchased the wrong card lol... Being able to return/exchange saved me ~$75...
@@ednastone8941 If you say no return then you can refuse the return and that's that as far as eBay is concerned. I have a large supply of 4TB SAS drives I am selling and I have to refuse returns because once shipped I can't vouch for it's integrity. I off a 90 warranty but you have to record serial numbers, and the warranty is a replacement drive *NEVER* a refund.
I appreciate that suggestion, however eBay will always side with the buyer. doesn't matter if I say "no returns accepted" or not. they can just open a return and say product was defective. ebay provides no option to the seller but to refund the buyer and i have to eat the loss. :-( I've argued with eBay that this policy just encourages bad behavior, but they don't want to deal with these things case by case - probably not enough people to handle these situations case by case. so instead, they have a policy that is automated that works for some "majority" of cases and not for many others. but like I said, for me at least, these situations are rare and it's happened before and it will happen again. I'm grateful for all the awesome people who support my store.
@EdnaStone Thank you for supporting my store! I don't have a problem with people changing their minds or plans and need to return stuff. That will always be available to my supporters. :-)
I don't know why they cover the logos unless there is some law in China that forbids photos of logos and trademarks. Why else would they do it? I never have been to China. I will also never go there ever! They have some really draconian laws and may arrest anyone in the world who broke them if they ever set foot in China even on a connecting flight! It is not good! No it is not good at all!!
ahhahah make a "packaging video" and draw on it a difficult-to-replicate doodle/singature-like drawing on its package. Requrest returns to be granded with the recipient's unboxing/packaging video. This was my thought when I was thinking of starting a selling business, because shit happens. Perhaps we could borrow better ideas from various security protocols. :D Any scammer deserves to burn in hell.
Looks like someone needed a controller, ordered from you and another seller but could get a larger refund by scamming you. Very uncool. I think that having a dated image of the item on the listing would go a long way toward dissuading buyers of this sort of activity.
Yeah, I think so. Also, I know many Chinese sellers, even if shipped from a US warehouse, insist on returns being sent back to China. Making it difficult and expensive to return, and probably as a tactic to discourage returns. The problem in this case is that eBay always favors the buyer. So, as a seller in this situation, i have no choice but to refund the buyer no matter how obvious the evidence support the fraudulent activity.
@@ArtofServer It's not about assuming, the information about reaching out is missing from your video which prompted my comment and other comments asking if this is a honest mistake.
It may not be a scam. Time and energy spend for a very specific product, the gain etc. It's probably a mistake, they sent the wrong card. But, on the other hand, you are a more experienced seller on ebay, you've probably checked the buyer. Well... that makes this video a click bait, which is kind of scam, isn't it???
consolation prize: breakout cables 🏆 ebay should have some system to track and combat bad actors like this especially with the fees they charge. I was actually wondering why you dont have an online store through squarespace or some other independent service. im familiar with ebay scalping fees uhhh i mean transaction fees. they take a lot for not much at this time. i found your store through your vids. i can understand if ebay still was a 800 pound gorilla 🦍 in marketing. If you listed ebay store link and also a competing link to web portal shop i would choose the private web shop so eBay doesn't take $$$ for nothing.
yeah, breakout cables and a SAS2308 card I've never handled before! LOL I've considered maybe doing a shopify store or running my own e-commerce site. I've helped other businesses set up things like that in my consulting business. However, eBay was just easy to get started and low maintenance. It has it's drawbacks for sure, and not just about fees, but it was the least friction way to get started. no one said anything about "fake". this was just taking a look at a card I received as a return fraud.
@@ArtofServer They're widely described as such by people who don't understand how OEM licensing works.
I agree it's return fraud in your case but the likely reason you got it was that the client regarded it as "fake" from a "returns not accepted" vendor (common for Chinese sellers)
FWIW the Inspur cards _are_ cheap(*), but to be honest I'd avoid sas2008/3008 family for home use anyway
The reason for saying that is they can't be turned to low power PCIe mode(**) and prevent the host computer from reaching sleep/low power modes
This is especially germane if you want a silent PC - the ARM-based LSI controllers (9400 onwards) not only draw much less power than the PowerPC ones, but allow the host system to go to C6 modes too, so whilst there may be an "on paper" variation of 10W between the cards you can easily see 60-80W on the whole system

That's very interesting about the Louis Rossman and logos. I didn't know about that with Apple, but I had heard someone else say it was customs inspection related. Thanks for sharing and hope you find some of my content interesting and helpful!
Thank you. And thank you for supporting my store! :-)
Wow, that is messed up.... I bought a board off you that works great, and will be buying from you again in the future. I hope you get your money back. People are terrible.
Thank you! No, I had to fully refund because that's eBay's policy if the return tracking shows delivered.
This sucks, no dbout about it. You are the most recommended person for IT mode cards out there.
thanks man!
@@ArtofServer "Maybe"? Well did you actually have a conversation with the buyer or not?
Odd that they would throw in what appear to be new cables.
I agree. or that they sent me a SAS2308 card... who knows?
I just saw your video and checked my card that I ordered in December and yes it had that funny gray tape covering the logo which I removed and discovered that the card was a FASTPCB. I thought I was getting a Fujitsu 9211-8i but that is not the case. Anyway I never used the card as I decided to go Hardware RAID for my latest Server build so the card just sat in it's original packaging. I may just install it just to see what it actually is. Thanks for helping me pique my curiosity.
glad this video helped you discover something! :-) thanks for watching!
So that is why stuff going to the US has logos covered to get through customs.
oh!! that's very interesting. do you have any references about that? I'd like to read more about it... thanks for sharing!
@@ArtofServer Look up the term "gray market" or "parallel imports", should throw up some interesting reading.
Maybe I'm just gullible. but given it's a nicer card and with cables, and packaging is decent, my bet is on buyer incompetence, or maybe they were delegating their shipping to someone else. Still not cool, and they should pay for shipping to fix the mistaken return, but maybe they weren't intending to defraud you
I was waiting for you to pop the heat sink off to take a look at the chip set. to see what markings were on it.
Hmmm.. good point. I may do that and i'll post the photo on my instagram.
lol, better test it and put to use, even as a giveaway..
The cat got frauded
LOL Meow!!! :-)
In 1993 someone in china made a decimal point error in the 5 year plan for yellow tape, ever since then there is only this yellow tape ;P
LMAO!!!! That's too funny. Thanks for the great laugh!
I am sorry this has happened to you. Unfortunately some people are just dishonest, I hope Karma bites them. I have bought many items from you, mainly controllers. They have always been described, always worked fine from day one and all controllers are still working well. I will always use Art Of Server as I know I will get quality products.
Thank you. Yes, it's just part of doing business i guess. I appreciate your kind words and for supporting my store! :-) You guys are awesome!!!!
Keep it up! Would love to see a perf test/comparison for the lolz.
Thanks! It's the same SAS2308 chip so I would imagine it performs as any other SAS2308 controller.
Take a picture of the SN. Number post it with your add and invoice by putting it in the description, then take a picture of the card in shipping, across you have to make a add for each card, if the SN doesn't mach you when your case. but what do i know
Sorry to hear that. Is there a way to add product ID or manufacturing number to your sale invoice or purchace order?
Thanks. I do record all serial numbers in my production log generated by my firmware flashing system. I don't include sales receipt in the box as I don't like wasting paper and records are available to print from eBay if the buyer needs a paper invoice.
I never got round to ordering that DELL R710 x16 Riser. Do you still have some? Are there any even still on the market?
very difficult to find. extremely rare these days. I saw one sold on ebay a few months ago and it went for over $100! I do sell modified x8x8 risers with open slots so you can still install a GPU. there are a few vids on my channel showing how I do the cut if you want to try yourself.
Do you know of any solutions to cooling these LSI Cards in a workstation? i've seen some particular LSI Model 3D Printed parts but what in general will help cool these cards in a workstation?
you can always just add a PCIe bracket fan mount and put some fans next to the LSI card.
Did the "Purchaser" respond at all to enquiries why they sent the wrong card back?
nope
In GPUs there is a fraud of GPU being a model VERY inferior and older but with a BIOS/UEFI that lies about what it is. How hard could be to do a fake firmware that lies about what it really is?
I don't want to speculate on that possibility on a public forum.
I wonder about the cables too.
Thank you for the video.
yeah, i find it strange they returned a newer generation controller for the older one?
thanks for watching!
What is your recourse as a legitimate seller in this situation? Can someone or maybe who knows the legal side of things, please enlighten us?
There's not much that can be done. EBay will not examine the details and adjudicate, their default process is to refund the customer. I can report the buyer, but that usually doesn't result in any action unless several sellers report similar problems with the same buyer in a short period of time.
Would like to see some detailed testing on that card. 😅
I expect it to perform like any other sas2308 card. Maybe run a bit hotter.
Ebay is a bit tough these days, it keeps getting harder as a seller
I think it's always been this way. I'm fortunate that vast majority of my supporters are incredible people. I'm very grateful.
Does ebay not pay you in these situations? I don't really understand how you can be left holding the bag for a situation like this.
9201 8e for a 9207 8e, this is lucky :D
:-P
What do you need that I only have 1 left? Let me know.. I might have more in queue. Visit artofserver.com and reach out to me from there.
One key reason people do it is to get a more expensive item cheap. It is return fraud, theft by deception and possibly a bunch of other charges!!
Indeed, I believe this was return fraud
@@ArtofServer If it was sent back via USPS, the USPIS will happily take an interest in it even if Ebay won't
Did you get your money back? what did Ebay do about it?
I showed ebay photos of what I got in return and asked them to compare to my listing photos. they agreed that it seems I didn't get back the item i sent, but their policy is to always refund the buyer as long as the return tracking shows delivered. so they refunded the buyer from my account. this is their usual policy, nothing new. same as every time this has happened in the past.
@@ArtofServer th-cam.com/video/1qWJXflTPZk/w-d-xo.html it so true
The LSI SAS2 2308 is not really a bad card. Kinda old now though but I still have one i use.
The only time you can’t do anything is if you issue the refund and not eBay, then it a done deal.
i get it stay away from from fake cards but do fake cards actually work and if so how long are they reliable?
Sorry, i would buy from your store if i was in us. Belive you are one of the good people
No problem. I can understand that, and shipping is getting more expensive as fuel prices are on the rise. I appreciate the thought! :-)

Thanks for the kind words! there are a lot more wonderful people in the world than bad, so that keeps me going. I appreciate your support! :-) thanks for watching!
Thanks for this video. I thought I had a original LSI card but I have one exactly like yours bought from ebay also.
yeah, I'm seeing more of these Inspur cards floating around on eBay.
This looks exactly like the box I got a fake LSI off an Amazon seller in. I ended up returning it and buying elsewhere.
did it come from China too?
It might have been a drop shipper i.e. ordering from china and using your address as the recipient then skimming off the profit.

Turn lemons into lemonade ? You've been watching too much kids tv my friend 😂😂😂
LOL. Yeah, actually lemonade is so bad for health with all the sugar in it...
Sorry, I don't know what Windows XP supports.
Another example that people suck. I hope you don't get scammed like that too often!
Not often, but it's happened a few times. Some people suck, but the vast majority of people who visit my store have been really awesome!
I will never sell anything on ebay, too many scammers.
So they sent back something better, i'll bet they sent you the wrong card by accident
it's not that bad. the vast majority of people visiting my store are wonderful people.
Definitely the wrong card and it is slimy for buyer to do this, but you got the cables, and PCIE v3 card.. Could have been much worse (like an empty box). Sorry, but have a good day. Not every ebay buyer is bad... Thank you for your videos.

No problem 👍
Didn't you take photos of item sold and recorded certain serial number or markings of the card? Next time, make a statement in the item description.
Please don't assume ALL THE BYERS ARE THE SAME. Sorry about your bad experience. Hoped that you did not make refund to that buyer.
It doesn't matter really. eBay policy is to refund the customer no matter what, as long as the tracking shows the return was delivered.
thanks for watching!
Just say "No Returns Accepted", people rarely return things these day's because the cost to return is so high.
I bet they swapped it with you because it was overheating on them.
possibly. I don't know what their intent was.
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
I don't know why they cover the logos unless there is some law in China that forbids photos of logos and trademarks. Why else would they do it? I never have been to China. I will also never go there ever! They have some really draconian laws and may arrest anyone in the world who broke them if they ever set foot in China even on a connecting flight! It is not good! No it is not good at all!!
have you been arrested in China before?

ahhahah make a "packaging video" and draw on it a difficult-to-replicate doodle/singature-like drawing on its package.
I would refrain from calling people scammers before reaching out to them and asking if it was a mistake
I would also refrain from assuming I didn't reach out.
Well... that makes this video a click bait, which is kind of scam, isn't it???
whaaat? how is this clickbait?

consolation prize: breakout cables 🏆
ebay should have some system to track and combat bad actors like this especially with the fees they charge.
LOL
I've considered maybe doing a shopify store or running my own e-commerce site. I've helped other businesses set up things like that in my consulting business. However, eBay was just easy to get started and low maintenance. It has it's drawbacks for sure, and not just about fees, but it was the least friction way to get started. I drive most of my own traffic to my eBay store from TH-cam anyway, so I think I can redirect my supporters to a new site if I choose to do that.
