1). I’ve learned these EXACT same things through high school. You just phrased them better.
2). How did you get your cramming retention rate to be so high?
3). Sometimes classes go too fast for handwritten notes. Any advice?
Also, congrats on 10k! Thank you for making a legitimate advice video for normal people.

    • @haleykang8156

i think a lot of my cramming success has to do with handwriting notes and solving a bunch of problems by hand. and also just reading my notes nonstop leading up to the test lol
for the handwritten notes, i think a lot of it has to do with shortening a lot of what the class goes over to the stuff you think would be on the test. don’t bother writing small details that would never show up on a test!

Thank you!!! 💕 Honestly, those mainstream online tips just create such a false expectation and impossibly high standard for students. Whenever I’m having legitimate problems getting work done, it’s teacher’s default to just say, “Then don’t procrastinate!!” Like NO, it is NOT that easy, we can’t suddenly flip a switch and live up to every single one of your “perfect student” expectations. These tips are so real and I wish every student, struggling or not, could hear these because they’re the truth we need :) thanks again, queen!

dude thank you so much for this!!!! it’s so good to see someone giving study tips that aren’t just telling you to suddenly be the perfect student. i mean, there’s a person in my class that in almost every test gets A+. i tried to ask him how he studies and organizes his student life, and he says that it’s really messy, he just gets the stuff done on the last minute, and does the cramming method for exams. it’s so amazing to see that you can be both a procrastinator and a straight A student.
i live on the south hemisphere so i’m halfway through school year, and i’m one year away from high school, so i really need to get better at my grades (that are usually around B- and A-) if i want to go to a good art university. wish me luck :D
again thank you SO MUCH for this!! it’s always better to make realistic goals and actually achieve them than just trying to be a perfect student

I have the same studying method that she has. In my 12th grade final examinations, I crammed 8 months worth of syllabus of 5 subjects in a week. While I didn't score the A grade(>95%), I scored a decent 89% and that was great too. I was an absolute fuckup for the first 8 months of the session, I was stoned out of my mind all day and didnt attend any classes. But man, I realized that day that I can cram things pretty decently. Right now I'm in Med school and my exam is after three days and I'm gonna cram 2 months worth of syllabus. See y'all on the other side.

I'm certainly not as qualified as Haley to answer to this, but I find writing notes on tech to be just as/if not more helpful. It has been easier for me to stay organized and I can print out/send notes easier. At the end of the day, if it works for you, then it counts!

tbh i disagree with all of your tips except the "paying attention in class one" - im surprised too. i'm also the top 10-15% whatever
    1) i TYPE all my notes - flexibility to cut, re-organize, no need to re-write: SAVE TIME, neatness, more accurate & easier to learn from. literally you can retain it when you go back to revise it & handwrite practice problems, you don't need to handwrite just to "retain it" a little more at the exact moment u write it. also, just use ur brain a little more when typing to understand it
    2) why cram at 10-3am the night before when u can leave plenty of time to go over all the content 3-4 times, back to back, 2 weeks prior the exam? more sleep = more alertness. especially for math tests, i sleep 8 hours & barely do revision the night before
    3) why watch tv shows while doing work???????? especially picking a show that doesn't require attention, wats the point
i mean ur tips might help alot of other ppl. personally, im in Australia & don't agree so just wanted to share my insights

Don't forget. It's not the straight A students who finish first in life. Violent people finish first. Take a look at Jordan Peterson before becoming judgmental.
