    What I usually do with my grill. I get a storage tote fill it half way with hot water and cleaning chemicals. Put the grates in the tote and let them soak for little bit and scrub them down and everything looks good as new.

    I use an orange degreaser on my Pit Boss smoker. It cuts the reside almost immediately. Then I wipe it off with a sponge. I rinse the sponge in a bucket of hot water. Them I wipe it all down with a clean sponge and let it dry. Looks new every time.

    Dry steam is the best way to clean. They are expensive for a unit but you can use it around the house also. Wet steam will hurt all heating elements.

    I used mine hard on labor day, 3 days worth of heavy smoking and she was looking horrible! Used Easy Off grill cleaner and a couple rolls of towels. Run the burn off after that to get rid of any residual and good to go.

    Make sure to clean your temperature probe often too. New ones aren't difficult to find, but they are a bit of a pain to remove/reinstall. I've had mine about 9 months and I'm very happy with its performance.

    I just want to add a word of caution for all the smokers out there. I have worked Advanced Critical Care for 20 plus years now, oddly, nobody ever really thinks about this. I have seen (2) two people dies from perforated bowels from wire coming off the brush, injecting these and perforating their bowel, this is an ugly, ugly death to see happen to anyone. It’s just something we (I) never thought about until now. Nylon bristle brush is highly recommended, just an FYI guys. PLEASE do not swallow a wire bristle, the outcome is never good.

    • @GrillSergeant
      @GrillSergeant  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If only nylon brushes were tough enough to clean the grates. I usually use a wire brush but will also wipe down the grates with a oil cloth to make sure no bristles got left behind...

    • @GrillSergeant

      After I let the machine cool down. I turned it back on and the auger unjammed itself. When you let it cool down some of the pellets in the auger will still burn till it goes out...

    What are your thoughts on the version 2? it seems to be slightly smaller than the version 1 of the pro series 4. I note that is does have the PID/Wifi/Bluetooth and similar features as the Brunswick. I noted at my Lowes, there are still some version 1's available. would you just go with the most updated one?

    • @GrillSergeant
      @GrillSergeant  ปีที่แล้ว

      The difference between 4 and 5 is 1. It’s simple math. 😂 But for real I think it has to do with internal racks possibly. If you are looking for a vertical smoker Pit Boss has a lot of options to look at. I would check out the Pro Series 4 V2 at Lowes or the Competition Series at Academy.

      It stands for No Probe, means you don't have any of the meat temp probes plugged in. It's not an error code, that why it keeps working.

We had a hand made rub did the preheat and put them in for 4 hours at 250 degrees and thou they turned out fall off the bone there was little smoke in them using competition pellets. I plan on doing a couple pork butts this weekend and might try using a lower temp setting for more smoke.
