im loving these videos! thank you for still producing and making music and even teaching people about it by making explanation / example videos of these devices. music is FKING woNDERFUL and i love making it and also learning about the process of it. ive been listening to a grip of your music recently, ive had "Escape" from The Death of Andrew on loop recently along with that album. you're very skilled at what you do and teaching people about it is very appreciated. thank you for doin so much with your gift of hardware perseverance and musical ear. have yourself a good one
Dope beat! 22:41 Drawing things in instead of fingerdrumming... That's exactly why the Tracker is my favorite device to work with! I started making beats on an MPC (1000) and I was constantly annoyed that I couldn't fingerdrum the desired groove, or afterwards arrange and nudge around everything as I really wanted. Sure there is step edit mode on MPCs and you can dial in numbers to copy bar 1 to bar 2 etc., but for me it's so much more satisfying to do it on a device which is deliberately built for this particular workflow. Of course this might have become easier with the touchscreen and stuff on the MPC One etc.; I can just compare it to the 1000. Also, when jamming on the MPC with a fellow friend (a drummer), producing a beat 'together', it was so frustrating to let him do all the fingerdrumming while I was the one who had to dial in the programs, copy stuff around etc. Nowadays with the Tracker I can finally make the beats I imagined and he doesn't even try to understand that rocket science 😙 btw: A third way to chop samples I'd like to point out (as I myself oversaw it for _months_ ): On the slice screen, when holding down Shift, the Tracker will offer the option to create evenly spaced-out slices with the number of slices to be chosen. Works especially well for drum loops with a specific length like 1 or 2 bars, but is also handy as a starting point for later refinement.
damn man.. gonna order mine today 💯 edit: I mean I did. First hardware sampler besides the old SPs I own, so I'm pretty hyped for a change in workflow/thinking. Also, the PT just looks so damn nice and fun to use! Thought about the 404mk2 for a while, but ended up trying something completely different
BTW, I did go for both of them but mostly use the PT anyways :D Sometimes I add the mk2 for some extra effects. EVENTHOUGH I come from the 404rawberries/blueberries era of SP madness lol (like someone cares)
What exactly is the reverse playback doing to elongate the sample? I assume it’s just reversing the audio, but it doesn’t really sound like the audio is playing in reverse. Great video!
Great question. I'm just picky with how I want my metronome to sound. I want to feel like something that could be in the song is keeping time for me and not just a random beep.
You sure can. There are actually a couple other unlisted videos as well on the playlist. I unlisted them because they were underperformers and as my channel gets more suggestions in people's home pages I dont want underperformers being their first or second experience with the channel. It's a means of giving them a higher chance of stumbling across a video they'd enjoy. But as you said these videos are still available through the playlist. Thanks for asking.
If you're talking about how the samples are hitting in relation to the drums, I'd suggest looking up a video on accenting the offbeat in a rhythm. Once you understand it's a lot of fun to mess around with.
It’s like Christmas every time I see a new video of your drop.
Yuletide Bangerz
not only do these videos show and teach us, but theres this comfort i get when watching your videos. thank you.
I'm glad they bring you comfort. I hope to see you in the comments of the next one
Awww, Kev! These are only getting better and better! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the support
Love these Polyend videos. You're truely a wizard with the hardware....Kevin.
Feel like I say this every time but this host? Better than the last. Kevin gets my seal of approval.
I hope Kevin has a long tenure here. We work really well together
Dude, these videos are so inspiring and entertaining to watch. Thank you!

Love seeing your posts Jon! I’ll probably never buy any of these controllers to make beats but it’s still cool to see your process!
You dont need anything except for what you already have
I had a pirated copy of fruity loops that I used to mess around on ha! Your new JMB vids have got me interested again!
Kevin is hella inspiring. Hope he sticks around.
Love the tracker content! Just got a polyend myself and love it for making beats. It’s a very intuitive device once you get the on screen grid.
More polyend tracker! Love your videos on the tracker
Thanks for letting us take a peek inside your creative journey :) much love
Really dig Kevin's bass choice with this sample.
kevin bringing the heat
Dope beat!

Of course someone named Kevin would think of the jellyfish from SpongeBob when imagining a jellyfish company.
By that same token... Hi, Kevin!
Wasn't intentional but you can't plan something this poetic

Fantastic.

Wondering why ur always create a metronome when the polyend comes with one?? 🤔
Great question. I'm just picky with how I want my metronome to sound. I want to feel like something that could be in the song is keeping time for me and not just a random beep.
@@jonmakesbeats ha I see. Nice beat by the way!
fuck yeah
This shit is FIRE bruh!
this is top 5 hee haw
Kevin, may I ask why this video is unlisted? Took me a sec to find out why the playlist has 25 videos but your channel only shows 24

@@jonmakesbeats Thanks for your elaborate reply and letting me know about the other ones too! 😊
The programming of the drums against the sample doesn’t make sense to me. Enjoyed the presentation though.

That’s what makes it dope. Doing what doesn’t intuitively make sense, but it still works in the end.
