This is beyond amazing. Obviously there's a learning curve to the poltyend tracker, but the interesting thing is that i started making tracks on the Amiga 500/1200 back in the early 90s, which is this exact tracker flow. Obviously in the 1990 you'd have maximum 4 to 8 channels, You could program some wave forms for base and melodies, and it was possible to get some (very low bitrate samples, w extremely limited space etc). .. but I still found this way of tracking music really intuitive and fun. I stopped producing but lately I've been using Ableton live, vsts, some hardware etc, but in a way to i just have too much possibilities and get stuck in details, overwork, overproduce etc... This world be a cool way to get back to that flow...
What I like about the workflow is while it's initially more intimidating to get going you have a lot of the relevant attributes available to tweak per step. Things that would normally be hiding in less intuitive submenus. They get as much attention in the process as the note/slice itself.
I know these videos are Time consuming and a lot of work so I really appreciate it. You're up there with my favorite producers, and even though I don't use this sampler, we can still use the ideas as inspiration. We appreciate it👊🏼

21:43 holy shit, I wrote a long email to Jeffrey Lim in 1998 or so trying to explain my vision of that exact feature for Impulse Tracker! I thought that being able to instantly reverse direction would enable me to program a version of scratching, along with pitch control and slicing. He politely wrote back that it wasn't a good idea, haha. I love that the people progressing that idiom had the same idea...
31:04 interpolating the values by hand is so nostalgic for all the fake echoes I used to make for my tracks (and also the sort of granular time stretching I thought I invented), but later versions of DOS trackers had auto interpolate functions... does Polyend Tracker not? That'd be such a surprising oversight considering how much it pushes forward!
I'll say it again, I really hate that these are so slept on!!! The workflow is like drawing a beat.. I like that concept! Goodlooks on the video GARY, this beat hard. 😭🤣✌🏿💯

Sure, it can be an intimidating & really challenging sampler to wrap one’s head around, but that’s a good thing, because it inspires you to step outside your comfort zone & compels you to think outside the box (as well as realize that patience is a virtue in using samplers like the PT). Insightful & well done video!!
