That's what I really need to learn to do: recognize chords (be they ever so basic) instead of reading each note individually! Thanks for this presentation and, yes, more videos of this nature, please!

Several great tips even though I knew many of them. I'm a self taught guitar player so I have taken some ideas I learned from that. I have also implemented some things in my guitar playing from watching piano videos.
I still need to practice on playing with two hands on the piano and to pick the right finger. I sometimes start with the last note in a phrase and then work backwards (from right to left).

    Excellent.
Particularly for me the thoughts about distinguishing sight-reading versus learning to play from the notation versus using the notation as a way to memorise a piece.
I hadn’t broken those three down before, or thought much about how dependent that is on the difficulty level.

@@PianoFromScratch he was to pianists what Charlie Parker was to saxophonists. He often played a series of short incomplete phrases before unleashing a long steady stream of mosley eight notes. Extremely fast double time lines in sixteen notes plus a lot of shifting II-V progressions on the left hand. Mind blowing 🤯

    • @PianoFromScratch

Takes practise, I have a video with some tips but main thing is, learn small chunks at a time that you can easily manage, and gradually add a bit more on over time with lots of repetition in between. Don't leave long periods without playing it again or it fades. Also, the more you understand and recognise what you're playing, the quicker it is to memorise as it's a familiar language.

@@PianoFromScratch This is why I hate text in English. Depending on your mood of the day? Or mine? It can sound negative, or positive. So this isn't a running battle to thread.
      I hope you understand that?
You're probably a great teacher in person. And I can see your really good at piano.
With that said? Let's keep thick skins, and not get all hurt over text.
      OK, my friend. Thank you
