      The PMBOK Guide is not clear to everyone you know? Many people struggle with this area and think they know it only to be floored on the test. CAPADRU is not very common knowledge either.
      For some pretty insanely great questions, sign up for our 3 mock exams. If you can achieve a 70% on any of the 3 of them, its a good sign: praizionmedia.com/praizion/?page_id=2264

    Hey Phil, Your videos have been helpful, I have a follow-up question on this one, let's say a stakeholder asks for a new feature, as a PM should u first evaluate the validity of the CR or just blindly fill the CR form and log it first and then do the further evaluation with the project team (on cost schedule and scope impact) before presenting it to CCB

    • @Praizion
      @Praizion  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Always log the request first. Stakeholders should fill the form themselves on most projects.

    Hi Phil, great video. If, hypothetically, the developer figured out a possible solution which will not alter the baseline, should there be a change request process put through or can PM approve it straight away and move onto execution? My thought is no because analysis still needs to be formally done to assess impact then ANY change will still need to go through Change Request and CCB for decision. is this correct assessment? Thanks in advance

    Hi . Wanted to know if the following change & team development management models -Drexler/ Sibbet, Virginia Stair , ADKAR model , John Kottler 8 Steps Process model etc are part of new PMP curriculum or Exam content outline ?
    Thanks

    • @Praizion
      @Praizion  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The outline does not mention these. Not bad to know them though as they are all in the seventh edition.

    For every approved approved change reques we have to update the changle log as well as project documents (Baselines) and project plans before Impelementing the change request in Direct and Manage Project Work. (Please correct me if I am wrong) also One question regarding the pending change request, as its not going to be implemented now but do we still have to update the project Plan, documents and change log for this?

    • @Praizion
      @Praizion  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is correct. You would not need to update the project management plan for a pending change request but you should update the change log with the status of pending. Also note that not every approved change request will result in an update to a plan. It could be an update to a project document so keep this in mind.

    I am confused with these 2 statements:
    Configuration management plan is _____
    A. Used to ensure that the description of the project product is correct and complete
    B. The set of procedures developed to control changes
    Is it correct to think that A is incorrect because CM does not specify the description correct or complete but it makes sure that specs are implemented and documented in a controlled fashion?

    Hi Phil. I have come a cross change requests in practice exams and I am confused about the correct response.
    If a developer added an extra feature to the end product ..
    do you tell him to remove it bc it’s gold plating ?
    Ask him to submit a change request ?
    Include in the chance log ?
    Understand the new features and the impacts ?
    I have seen all above answers on practice questions and now confused which is correct !!
    Thanks

    Hi, Total 24 processes are sending the Change Request to PICC process. In your fav book at page number 114, the following processes 6.2, 11.5 and 11.6 aren't captured the "Change Request" in Data Flow Diagram Figure 4-13. The "Change Request" shows in the following pages 183, 438 and 449 in Data Flow Diagram. Please let us know whether we need to consider 21processes or 24processes???

      Good catch my friend. I recently reported this to the PMI from another student's observation. Detail to this degree is likely not to be a show-stopper for anyone because at least 50,000 people have become PMPs since the last edition ended.
      Define Activities, Plan Risk Responses and Monitor Risks are missing as noted. 24 not 21. Here is a video I made about it: th-cam.com/video/2h0YqJPHt-8/w-d-xo.html

    @Praizion What is the difference between a controlled project document and an uncontrolled project document?

    • @Praizion
      @Praizion  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nice one! I will answer this in a video.
      Summary is controlled means must go through formal approval before updated or modified.

    if in an Agile Project a customer makes a request for addition of a new feature in the last sprint of the release, that is nearing completion, then should the Scrum master ask the project manager to consider the request (considering Agile embraces changes) or should the scrum master assess the impact on sprints deadline along with the team members first?

    • @Praizion
      @Praizion  ปีที่แล้ว

      Faulty scenario. It is not the Scrum Master's role to do so. The Product Owner has the final say. If it is truly Agile, at a minimum, the team should also be involved.

    Dear Phil, i just watched your video and sincerely, it is very educating but i think there should be a document updates somewhere in the Change request cycle after the Change Log and the execution point. Guide me Phil.

    • @Praizion
      @Praizion  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks bro. The Change Log is updated all throughout the project under Project Documents Updates.
      Change requests can be negotiated and revised (but they do not have a special name).

    How we can have an idea that a change will affect baseline or not ?
    All the change defect, preventive or corrective measure will take some TIME and probably COST also. How to judge if it will affect baselines ?

    • @Praizion
      @Praizion  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Syed - you must first do analysis for ALL change requests around all the knowledge areas ..... scope first....increase in scope could mean increase in schedule and resources and therefore cost and maybe quality and risk too. Sometimes the assessment is QUICK but you should still do it. Even if it is 5 minutes.

    • @rummaan17
      @rummaan17 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Praizion thanks for your prompt response. But for exam will the question be clear that we can anticipate that its can only be approved by sponsor or project manager. I mean they have to mention that it will affect baseline or not for us to have clear understanding.

  • @muhammadbilal2450
    @muhammadbilal2450 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    If we have approved Change request from CCB, do we still need to get approval from Sponsor or we can go for implementation?

    • @Praizion
      @Praizion  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. It would make sense to notify the sponsor since they are the authorization source and approver in many an instance. They are sometimes part of the CCB anyway, but if the project has outlined the method, you follow it. You can go straight to implement. There is no hard and fast rule in that.

      Muhammad, see Page 115 in the PMBOK Guide: "Customer or sponsor approval may be required for certain change requests after CCB approval, unless they are part of the CCB. " There have been some individuals making questions based on this pretty obvious statement. I think PMI has more important things to ask on the exam imho though.

    • @Praizion
      @Praizion  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      PMI states "certain" change requests which means it is not a hard and fast rule. Some questions about this are out of shape. Especially free questions. Beware!
