      a really mild setting spray is basically only pure rose water - Clarins use it in its expensive setting spray and just adds a few preservatives. Try it, it smells delicious, hydrates the skins, has anti-wrinkle effects, sets the makeup naturally. Of course, it does not make your makeup to be "bullet proof" - but it is not cakey and lasts without issues for like 6 to 8 hours if you use a base under your eye shadows and some primer under your foundation.

    I make my own lip scrubs at home all the time, and I would definitely recommend A. not using that much honey and B. not using coconut oil! coconut oil dries up in the scrub if left in room temperature, and makes applying the scrub SUPER difficult. if youre gonna make it, use jojoba or avocado or olive oil instead.

    Sugar exfoliation is to harsh for your FACE
    Please avoid using salt and sugar because they are "cheaper" they have very sharp edges (cause they are small crystals) and it can cause micro tears in the surface of your face that can cause irritation

    • @janedoe5836
      @janedoe5836 7 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      This is true ^ Oatmeal that's soaked a bit in a liquid can work as a great exfoliant that is gentle on the skin.

      Camila Banegas no wonder I broke out when I used a coconut salt scrub. Thanks! Now I'll know not to use it :))

    • @danalynn2580
      @danalynn2580 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      The lips are far more sensitive than the skin on your face or body. If sugar would cause micro tears in facial skin, it would do the same to the lips which would leave your lips a bloody mess. Try passing a facial brush over your lips and you will see what I'm talking about. The skin on lips are very sensitive, vascular, and thinner. This is why they get chapped so easy and your face doesn't. Almost all face and body scrubs use sugar or salt. Some use micro beads but not many.

      dana lynn you are right im sorry for the mistake
      thanks for sharing your opinion because most of the "beauty tips" are so bad for you (using lemons, toothpaste for pimples or lips, coconut oil for the face, baking soda in your skin) and the comment section are full of girls saying "i am going to try this" makes me fell bad for them.

    I always make my own lip scrub. and it's never oily or sticky. I think she used way too much honey and oil. the sugar should always keep most of its form to truly scrub off the dead skin. The peppermint oil is completely optional and you could honestly use any lightweight oil you have on hand . I've even used vaseline once lol

  • @zimm2295
    @zimm2295 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Mixing the amount of scrub you need atm with just plain ol' sugar and the oil you prefer (olive, avocado, argan, etc) on your fingers works really well and is super cost effective without the worries about it expiring ^_^ Coconut oil prob isn't the best choice if you don't melt it, cuz it'll be a bit too firm to mix with ease and the scrub will end up a bit too thick

    do a 2:1 of regular sugar and olive oil (ex 1tbsp sugar 1/2 tbsp olive oil) and you're done. it's super simple, quick and easy to make, gets the job done well, and tastes delicious. if you prefer something with smaller granules you could even switch the regular sugar for brown sugar but i find for lips, regular sugar does really well! you could also add extra ingredients like in the video (honey and coconut oil are good for the skin) as well as an oil for scent, though they're extra and something i'd recommend more if you were making for a friend (you could do the sugar olive oil recipe, but add a drop of scented oil and a drop of food coloring and you've got a cute looking lip scrub to give your friends as gifts which is great for the holidays!)

    Even though they chose Lush over DIY, it all depends how much you put into the diy lip scrub like that was a little too much honey and might want more brown sugar. It all really varies. I've made plenty of lip scrub and personally I choose diy over Lush cause the Lush is almost $11

    I really like the diversity in buzz feed videos. It's not all black women, it's not all white women, not all latinas or Hispanic, not all Asian, or middle Eastern, they include many different ones.

    All lush add is
    jojoba oil
    Sugar
    Colorants and flavouring
    Literally that's it

    I just mix some sugar, olive oil, honey, and fragrance if I’m feeling extra, for body and lip scrubs. Works perfectly!

    I think you needed more sugar and to make it mix easier you should melt the coconut oil first

    I'd really love to see you make this again because lip scrubs are meant to have more sugar than I guess product to make it stick..? So maybe try adding a little bit more sugar

    I would say that she should have used natural granular sugar instead of brown sugar. The honey just melted the brown sugar, it was most likely carried around too long.

  • @katmclachlan5999
    @katmclachlan5999 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I feel like she should have used demerara sugar instead of light brown sugar because the granule size is much bigger and it won't dissolve as easily (like I suspect hers did)

    The lip scrub has to have a larger sugar ratio compared to the other ingredients so it can exfoliate the lips efficiently.

      Bella loves Kpop Brown sugar crystals work way better and like the other commenter, I just add a tiny bit of honey to it. You want it more granular, so it exfoliates, instead of the broke down wet version from that recipe.

    Lush just seems like sand that falls all over the place. I have to apply it over a sink to catch all of the extra. Eco Lips scrub has a perfect amount of chunky sugar and moisturizing elements but it tastes so bad that I returned one that was $4 on sale. I went out in the cold, to the store to take that sucker back.
