Omagoodness, the mezzo-soprano walks away with this performance! Not that the orchestra is a slouch, far from it. But I will never understand the existence of the orchestral suite minus the vocal segments, which are the real blood and guts of the piece. Speaking of which... the story could have turned out badly but the lady who charms and helps dispatch the vengeful spirit. Various cinematic and TV movies have offered variations of this plot line, which de Falla resourcefully delivers in under half an hour. This is splendid. Thank you to Maestro Latham-Koenig and these Flemish artists who clearly are determined to preserve their country's sterling reputation of music making. Big hugs from the USA!

Gran interpretación. Cada vez que escucho la parte final que dice: ""Ya va despuntando el día, cantad campanas, cantad, que vuelve la gloria mía"" siento la sensación de que la obra no quiere concluir, que algo más se espera en ese amanecer anunciado por el tañido de las campanas........ Y la he escuchado cientos de veces.

I love this version. Great job by the conductor. I can feel the dance. I think there is possibility for a great dance show with light effects to underline the atmospheres the orchestra so nicely depicts.

El fraseo es nítido y la modulación está sincronizada con la música fundiendo sentimiento y expresividad sonora con el dramatismo de la protagonista. Su estilo es sencillamente perfecto y mantiene la expectativa de la audiencia hasta el maravilloso final. Hermoso conjunto de artistas que con profesionalidad han podido resolver las difíciles articulaciones de instrumentos y voz humana... y es un meritorio trabajo de equipo y dirección llevada con esmero. I love De Falla and like to play his music on guitar. Only Rodrigo equals him in capturing the Spanish Spirit in music in my humble opinion.
Humble opinion ☺ but fortunately not only Joaquín Rodrigo captured the Spanish spirit... Enrique Granados and Isaac Albéniz are some examples.
