Kodiak is an amazing mech. It is considered a Second-Line battlemech, but I believe that is only because it is not an Omni. I narratively justify having one in my Front-Line Cluster by making it the personal mech of one of my Star Captains.
The clans, specifically wolf, made a wolfhound IIC using the data contained in the ejected head of Phelan Kell's wolfhound. This mech was a one off built exclusively for Phelan in appreciation for his work for clan wolf, and natasha kerensky pulled some strings. Seems like with all the IS mechs you got it mould make for a ComStar force.
Love the Wolfhound. Aside from where you placed it, it is an Inner Sphere mech. (Tho you can just say it was salvaged by a clan) Phelan Kell piloted the Wolfhound before being captured by Clan Wolf. It is a solid mech. Great firepower and armor for a light mech, it plays more like a medium mech for the cost. Some good mechs there, great vid.
17:17 the Wolfhound is popular because it is an almost perfect light hunter, skirmisher and brawler. 6/9 move, 119 armor, large laser, multiple medium lasers. It's great. You know how the Pheonix Hawk PHX-1 or PHX-1D is a terror to light mechs in 3025? The WLF-1 in 3028 is basically a pocket version with very few compromises. It was designed by Steiner to counter the Jenner and Panther of the DCMS and it does. It only got better in 3052 when it got its large laser upgraded to er and DHS reducing its need to heat cycle.
Solid points, never really played with the mech as our campaigns did not get access to the mech in the Clan Era, or even before in Steiner space. Seems like a great light mech.
wow you got a lot of assaults on both sides goshawk is second line. Crab is 50 tons. Kingfisher is an obsolete(ish) Omini (no xl engine and a 360 rating). Turkina is a frontline mech its a beast. Novacat and night gyr are both front line mechs. Hellhound is effectively wolverine IIC but renamed because awkward name. Ceaser was inspired by the cataphract. Panther is a 35 tonner. Wolfhound has no ammo to explode, It was featured in the warrior series and the blood of Kerensky series. Incubus is a second line. Linebacker is frontline. Huntsman is frontline. Howler is secondline. Kodiak is technically secondline but its known to be in frontline units. 2 level 2 comstar units and a fed com company and pretty sure you have a trinary of front line and a binary of secondline.
I love the Wolfhound, Centurion, and black Knight. The Wolfhound was Phelan Kells mech. Griner was Phelan Kells Wolhound clan tricked out. Plus the Wolfhound just looks cool.
jellous here, heh those boxes are out of stock pretty much everywhere and shipping alone from catalist games is ~300 EUR for me so kinda steep :D, will wait for restock somewhere else, but surely want to buy at leas 10-20 boxes
@@Kingofdragons117 Great news then indeed! Lots of people have been waiting on the second Comstar Level II pack! Looks like someone has been paying their phone bill! Appreciate the update!
@@gabrielnguyen5580 Barns and Noble are a good source of Battletech and offer online. They recently had an exclusive mech pack for them, which was a good set of mechs! Check them out, also Catalyst then would be a good bet. Actually try out Aires Games and Miniatures, he does offer online sales too and holds great inventory! The guys name is Derek!
New to Battletech, question for you veterans: how many mechs does a typical game involve? Classic rules, not alpha strike. Seems like it would get rather complicated managing more than 4-5 mechs per side. Nice video, Cheers!
Best to have 4 mechs vs 4 mechs. Also check out the older scenario books which are available as pdfs, good scenarios to play to keep things fun. There are some newer scenario books that let you run campaign tracks, good fun also. Happy hunting!

Thanks for the comment! Will remember that about the wolfhound! Never really played with that mech so be good to see how it does in that era.

Very much appreciate your points which help massively!
The Turkina is the totem mech for the Jade Turkeies, it is a frontline mech from 3055 era

The cards will also have some pilot cards and sometimes the more famous pilots in card form
would love to see a bullshark turn up at some point
Nova cat and Night Gyr are Omni mechs (frontline).
That is a LOT of boxes. I was happy when i managed to snag 9 of them from my not so LGS.
I was very hot on getting these, ordered a bunch from the US as well which was very expensive! I love your vids by the way! Keep them coming!
@@magnushobbiesandgaming7683 thanks =)
You can build Units for The Battle of Tukayyid.

My LGS actually has 3 of each of the comstar boxes actually.
That is great! Are you in the US? That would mean stock is arriving again so should also head its way into the UK and Europe!
@@magnushobbiesandgaming7683 In the US.

yay battletech
do yall order it from the catalyst games site itself - i had trouble finding them on amazon
Not sure where you are but find a good hobby store or online hobby shop, they tend to get what you need quickly rather than amazon.
Down in florida. Last few stores were more mtg and ttrpg focused than minis and then the two mini stores were histoircal/rc and then warhammer stuff
Guess im just getting unlucky
