The one on Hamilton was one of the best maneuvers of the entire year. Alonso still has it, let's hope he has a competitive car for the next couple of years to keep us entertained.
I don't think It was (only) due to the torque of the engine. Alo Is the most experienced guy of the F1 drivers lineup. That corner Is also often interested by gusts of wind, so It might have been one of those.
Could be that the car was also unstable and he was pushing it cautiously to the limit of what it could do in an exit., twice, against Lewis and Carlos.
I know playing games on a computer doesn't make me a racing expert by any means, but most people that ever raced on that track in a semi-realistic game/sim, probably would agree that corner is the hardest in the circuit. You need to brake a lot, downhill, and while turning; and even after that, it's hard to have a good exit. As somebody else said in the comments, he must have a lot of feel of (and trust on) the brakes to do that. Visually less impacting to the audience, and way less epic than the fight in Brazil with Perez, but to me this was a much better overtake, more creative and harder to pull off.
yeah completely agree, its a nightmarish braking zone on the sim too, youre turning and going slightly downhill while braking, plus the apex is slightly off camber. Probably one of the most technical corners on the calendar.
Yup this is so true, getting by cleanly without locking up, & getting a good exit is always a priority in this corner, heart beat rises in this part of the circuit surely....& making a move like that irl on a 7 time champ ....oooff
One of the highlights of 2023 for me were those Hamilton Alonso battles. Lets hope we have them again this year but with Norris and Leclerc into the mix for a battle for P3 in the championship
Absolutely delicious but best appreciated by the audience with sim experience! Easily top 3 moves of the year if not best. Anyone who drove this damn corner knows the pain haha
That was the exciting part of 2023 season before we got tired of the Dutch National Anthem. Respect to Alonso, the oldest driver who can beat drivers half his age!
Sans les evolutions pour toutes les ecurie ON VOIE Ce VRAI pilote ALONSO qui fait la Differance en conduite pour 2025 Mercedes se serai mieux pour lui que vertapen 😉😉
Even with these useless (by and for F1 standards) engines with just 12k redline, the engine sound is still enjoyable! Cant help but wonder how good it would have been if we had at least 2+ litres and V8s or more!
For the peoppe who say this deserved overtake of the year, what about Lewis' move on Sainz in Qatar's sprint that was never shown on TV? Much better than this one, and pure masterclass. It also happened last lap.
@@KanzaiDoriftoz It's very smart. You wouldn't have seen any other driver do this. Now don't give me just "It was a just a dummy" because it was not just that.
@@Gianniskos1335 Vettel Spain 2017 was also a dummy move, was that also better than Alonso's move?, no, you are not taking into consideration how hard it was to pull off a move in turn 10 of Bahrain. Qatar Sprint move by Lewis was smart, but Sainz is also really stupid for defending in a corner that nobody can overtake you and Vettel just did Mexico 2023, it's an entertaining move to watch but not something HARD to pull off. So yes, it is JUST a dummy move. (This is coming from a Lewis fan btw)
@@KanzaiDoriftoz We see moves like Vettel's one all the time, and don't get me wrong it is very great, but don't underestimate Sainz. He has been to F1 for long time, and he was also the one not to fall for what Alonso did to Lewis in Bahrain. Although I respect everyone's opinions, for me this is much better than what Alonso pulled in Bahrain, which is also as described a superb move, but again what Lewis did, you would never see any other driver do. You mentuoned me Seb's overtake which is completely different and with the help of DRS which has been replicated multiple times.
@@Gianniskos1335 My brother in christ, Sainz didn't defend Alonso IN A STRAIGHT in that same Bahrain race, he didn't fall for the same move, instead he turned his brain off like he did in Qatar, the move Lewis did at Qatar has been seen multiple times, you make the guy ahead think you're gonna try a move, make them miss the corner and then pass them, the move by itself is not special, that's just a psycological battle... and yes Vettel had DRS which makes it less special, that's what I'm trying to say, the moves you say are good, are just another move, they are not special.

It a shame it didn't get overtake of the year
Was it though? There were plenty of awesome overtakes throughout the year
@@trashgaming853Lewis made a much better overtake
Lewis' move on Sainz in the last lap of Qatar's sprint was much better and pure masterclass.
@@Gianniskos1335 Yeah that move was good one but it is disappointing that the move that got overtake of the year isn't the best
He must have had an immence feel for the brakes to turn in without locking up. Simply lovely.
0:20 Fernando getting surprised by the torque of the Mercedes engine after driving the Alpine tractor for 2 years.
he was barely even on the throttle
literally 50% and he's skidding, god damn

definitely.. i dont have the balls to attack there because it so easy to lock up mess up the exit
It's such a deceptive corner too, it closes on you very quickly. If you don't brake early you can easily out brake yourself and go deep

I remember yelling at the TV while it happened. Those first few podiums had me so insanely hyped up.
The fact that this didn't get overtake of the year is mind boggling to me
shameless leclerc fans botting the vote count
Who got it?
LeClerc did, I believe, for his overtake on Perez in Las Vegas
@@FalconGT3 That is literally a DRS/Slipstream overtake after a long straight. Fuck knows why that's chosen.
I'd say his (double?) overtake at Zandvoort was better. Full understanding of track characteristics
Alonso, what a legend.
One of my favourite channels, keep the work up. These videos are amazing
I love Alonso and Hamilton, always clean racing between them
Overtake of the season
Every time I see that corner I think of this move by Alonso. Galaxy brain
Best overtake of 2023. I jumped with excitement when I saw it
That feeling for traction in third gear is *Chef's Kiss*
Even David Coulthard admired that move while commentating...

What a move!! It was a pleasure to see Alonso in such a great form.
IMO the biggest iq on the grid
I could watch that turn 10 overtake forever without getting bored 🤩🤩🤩

MEGALONSO

"YES. LES' GO!" can't wait to see more from the lion
A tricky corner is good for overtaking, if you are the best at it.
Anyone know why Alonso lets the wheel jump around like that? It doesn't seem like the rest of the cars do that.
nah i always do this in f1 23 (with unlimited numbers of flashbacks)
Now we are going to ask for everyone's telemetry and start handing out penalties of 20s hipijipijo!!
That is why never underestimate alonso.
