Jaffe should declare himself KING of Violence Island as well as HOST of Insert Credit to defend himself from any would be usurpers, regardless of their having their finger on any (Action) Button.
2:49:02 getting out a highlighter and marking “The 26 year old-liness of the typical video game critic.” “There’s a lot of a 68 year old Japanese man who’s been working on games since the arcade days.” Some shokunin of 2D platformers would only exist at Nintendo. Some guy who’s never given an interview but has credits going back 40 years
please i need to know where the "nimrod" sound effect Tim plays at 42:15 comes from lmao. loving the episode so far even though i don't vibe with any game mentioned yet
If you like Pseudo-Regalia you should also check out Corn Kidz 64, which imo might be even better. Not in terms of feel, naturally, but in terms of design. Completely nails feeling like a old 3d platformer with a few new sensibilities, and progressing the medium.
I'm not even at a point in the podcast where anyone has mentioned Skyrim. But hard disagree. Skyrim was bad and did irreparable damage to aaa game design since it released
@leftovernoise it was great, however I will agree the "blueprint" has been worked into the modern gaming zeitgeist to the detriment of the gaming sphere(however those games following Skyrim are not Skyrim's fault)
@@Booneface Skyrim had a cool world to explore, I'll give it that. But the actual gameplay and mechanics, I despise. The reason so many people end up as an archer, is because it's the only way of playing that doesn't feel awful. The leveling system and enemy scaling have a lot of problems and it leads to having no difficulty curve at all. I didn't find the main quest or most of the side quests interesting. Some of the guild stuff was alright, but I feel like quests were done better in Morrowind and oblivion. It feels like it road to success on its world exploration alone.
@@leftovernoiseSkyrim’s open world format is more in line with what you would experience in BoTW or Elden Ring than the Ubisoft formula. Its map isn’t laden with activities and check lists, it’s more about the organic process of discovery. Also, people always dog on it from a mechanical perspective, but it was never loved for that. It was the world and exploration, the vibes and minimalism. It’s a weed smoker’s dream video game. Even its mechanical simplicity can be viewed as a positive trait that allowed for so many people who weren’t as well versed with the genre to enjoy it and become introduced to RPGs. Add to that the great graphics for its time, an art style that still holds up, and a classic OST and it’s far from a bad game. It’s fine to just say you prefer Morrowind or whatever, I get that. But the “Skyrim is bad, actually” take is a joke.
Problem with hifi rush is that it doesn’t really work if you know how to dance. It’s not really rythmic for claiming to be ryrhmic. The first boss battle feels like slowing you down to an un-danceable song.
I am the same as Jaffe. I have the burden of not playing a numbered sequel before playing the prequels. BUT if they called it something like, "Baldur's Gate: Equilibrium" I'd be down to clown!
This might be five months later, so you may have already proverbially bitten the bullet on BG3. But I think the mystery of playing the canonical main character of the Dark Urge character actually works MUCH better if you have not played either of the games before it. Which is very likely intentional.
Great show everyone! Armored Core is the only game i bought this year- and it was spectacular! (i played the FF 16, RE4R, & SF 6 demos & didn't really like them) oh yea Spidey 2 which i enjoyed bits of but kinda hated.

The insert credit quick break segment always chills me right out. Thanks
I don't think Tim is allowed to give grief to Brandon for being a hater anymore after that hater behaviour regarding Hi-Fi Rush.
saying "just admit that you're a hater" and then saying "I admit that I am a hater of this game" is the opposite of hypocritical, tho.
Hi-fi Rush is corporate trash for “countercultural” tryhards
hot take: Of starfield ever shows up on an award list, No Man's Sky should be allowed to take the award instead

Loved pseudo I'll check it out
Tim is spicy in this one..... Skyrim was good though
Frank left us far too soon

tim was on fire this episode
OMG I'M SO EXCITED TO LISTEN TO THIS (but it will have to wait until later). Love you guys and what you do :)
The talk about the new terminology for "games above AAA" right during the Skull and Bones situation couldn't be any funnier
I literally just played through pseudoregalia the other week. Wouldn't say the combat was really good, but what a lovely little game.
Alex doesn’t say much, but his interjections are pitch perfect
Great games list. I laughed. I cried. I fell in love
We Tim' patreon supporters NEED to have that full playthrough of BG3!!!!! Aaaargh!!!
Great ep
Thanks as always for the great discussions. Another 21 games to add to the list of games I'll play when I retire and have free time.
Tim saying he would've liked to slit throats and open stomachs with a shotgun (in- game) is a bit gauche.
yeah shoulda been meaner
Great list!
1:17:20 I believe Uncut Gems actually claims that crown for most swears per minute, with a little over 4 F-bombs per minute.

3:40 "based"
2:28:29 Sorry, AAAA has been dedicated to Skull and Bones to justify it's price. Lol

Just stick the word "Reckoning" on the end and you can make a vaguely-related sequel to *anything*

damn u really missed a lot of good games
@@DANNY__JK i usually wait for sales. i'm halfway through Yakuza 7 & just beat FF7:R! i guess i did play that Cyberpunk DLC (it owned).
Brandon is a vortex of contrived takes, excluding Yakuza.
That's what I'm thinking, yeah...
