40:22 actually, it makes a ton of sense to me. But then again, I'm a huge SMT nerd.
Honestly loving the new team comp on the show. Feels like everyone has more space to share their piece, and Ash really adds great humour and perspective from the fandom and western/action RPG side of things which gives a unique insight. Can't wait for the new era going forward!
"check it out i'm in the house like carpet" i exclaimed YESSSS immediately, thank you alex jaffe
playing someone who hates corvids? I've done terrible things in games but that's *monstrous*
The best video accompaniment to any video game podcast I’ve seen. Thank you for your work! It brings me comfort and laughter.
great intro song 💪
I remember wrath of the litch king made me fail at my first big career opportunity, and then legion made a fiance break up with me. I stopped after that last one. 3 year laters I was married, with kids and ready to buy a house 😂 Edit: I have a weird one though, after I layoff I picked up Disco Elysium, and that is one depressing game. It got me into like 2 months of depression.
This is not a guest I was expecting, at all.
why is ash so close minded, i always felt this way about her when she was a guest but now that she's a host I feel like I need to mention this. Like beyond the usual hater-ish stuff that I expect from the others. she often says stuff that is like, proudly ignorant of seeing from other perspectives or going outside her comfort zone
@@SeligsuperI don’t think it’s an exclusive characteristic of her to be opinionated on this show. Everyone argues with each other. It’s fine. They’re having debates and bantering. I found Tim Rogers to be profoundly more argumentative and pedantic, and that’s coming from someone who likes him.
@EricShoe oh for sure. I specifically mean the "do i look like I'd watch a movie with a cowboy song" or a few episodes ago when she was appalled at the mention of a DW Griffith movie. I listen to this show to kinda expand my world, I found a lotta cool stuff that way. And nice perspectives on stuff I already knew. Got nothing against Ash personally, I agree with her politics and most of her takes, but she just doesn't seem like a fit for the show imo. The rest of the cast have tons of knowledge to share about games and their history, creation, etc. Ash's contributions tend to be a lot normie-r. She talks about fandom stuff a lot, openly says she cares more about game stories than mechanics. Which like isn't a bad thing but. It's not this show, yknow. Idk.
@@Seligsuper yeah I see where you’re coming from. I agree that she doesn’t the breadth of knowledge on games that her cohorts do. I think there could be potential for interesting conversations between less experienced gamers and veterans. But I’m not sure that desire has been realized yet. I’m hoping with time, the dynamic between them will work better. My favorite moments from the pod are when it gets in the weeds about game development and its history. I’m not sure what areas of gaming that she has expertise in.
The issue Ash is referencing is a Joe Mad issue, Uncanny 325. Storm defeats Marrow in a callback to the classic Callisto showdown
great guest
It was Ghost Rider 1, right? And one of the riders had a flaming horse instead of a motorbike. It's the only thing I remember of that movie. 😅
Great episode!
ahhh...that section on games coming close to ruining life....tooooo relatable toooo real :( thx for sharing tho; new listener, love the the show
I watched Mushoku Tensei because of the muscular cat girl and the high ratings, and the isakei elements borderline nuke it. I hope the trend dies down soon.
thanks as always everyone, you are doing great work🎉
Enjoyed the tabletop rpg discussion in this one 👍
My favourite audio magazine (with video) and my favourite comic writer. Phonogram changed the way I think about magic and introduced me to Los Campesinos! Good episode, good episode.
Love Ash as the new host! Was really hoping for that. Also y'all, we've been in a video game music Renaissance. Literally people start getting choked up with the first three notes of Outer Wilds. In even just 10 years we've gotten Doom, Transistor, Pyre, Multiple Xenoblade games, Octopath Traveler 2, Splatoon Games, Disco Elysium, Neon White, Hyper Light Drifter. And those are just *my* highlights. Hell one of your guests Thorhighheels did Umurangi Generation and that's an extremely memorable soundtrack. So yeah, that's all! I just like game music and I feel like it's never been better! Also thank you for being so candid Brandon. It's important to be vulnerable and reach out where it's meaningful. Take care all.
I only occasionally watch the TH-cam version of the pod because listening to IC usually is my comfort food when I'm working, but had to come see the Puppycam and all your gorgeous faces
dude it was so nice to see you all for real. ive been wishing for that for literally years since i started listening so kinda surreal to finally see what you guys are seeing lol. feels like a massive upgrade! big shout out to esper for making it work without losing the awesome visuals, that was probably hard work. the show is feeling extra fresh! ❤
The big dragon is the bbeg, you fight him in the begining and lose, then you fight him at the end to finish the game. Then like on screen, a couple points on the map have a dragon. Then in the bitter black isles you can find them in the coliseum, or summon one to the non hostile area with an item
Music after 2014 that is pretty damn good: Xendoblade Chronicles 2: Torna the Golden Country (Also the base game OST), Celeste, Streets of Rage 4. Restricting my answer to 3....DOOM2016WOOPS-
Jaffe is awesome
54:44 There are so many memorable songs from the past 10 years. RDR2 Unshaken by D’Angelo, Cuphead (both OST’s), FF14&16, Elden Ring, Obra Dinn, etc. I like a lot more indie stuff but they’re less recognizable to most people.
I'm fairly positive you can in fact get Mac on insert Credit - reach out.
I enjoy travel and book
The puppy cam is an unfair marketing strategy.❤
Hanzo's ult alone has 2 dragons, so that would be 3 canon Overwatch dragons. If we include skins, that count would go up. Symmetra has 2 Halloween skins that turn her into a literal dragon, and there are a bunch of dragon themed Chinese new year skins.
Seeing everyone talking is so cool. Awesome awesome job Esper! Giddy when I heard Ash will be permanent. Good luck everyone, love the podcast 👍
i am so excited for ash joining as a host!!!
This intro really hit me deep. For a little over the past year I've been my mom's caregiver as she battles stage 4 cancer, all while I'm dealing with chronic illness, and as a person of color, this election has just added onto an already stacked plate, and this intro has impacted me in a such a solemn yet uplifting way that no other podcast, videogame or otherwise, ever has. I want to thank you all for the tireless work you put in to give us a small escape from the numerous perils the world is presenting us.
@@dannytacos689 had me crying in traffic. times get tough and it feels like they don't stop getting tougher. happy to be a member of a community that values empathy and resilience.
HEY GUYS!!! I can see you now!!! This is so exciting!!!!!
I'm really enjoying the Insert Credit of today. Such great vibes. Can't wait to see the new credits system in action as well.
just finished the episode and ash fuckin killed it, I'm so happy to look forward to her contributions on the regular
This new era of Insert Credit is dope
WOAH video looks great 👍
I found the podcast via Tim, but I won’t miss him. It’s nice that the other panelists can get a word in edgewise now…
At this point I am actually afraid to listen to new episodes because I know how much fun I will have and the intensity of that experience is daunting.
Video!!!!!!!
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk for another example of a great soundtrack in recent memory. Outer Wilds as well.
A certain boss you face in Baldurs Gate 3 (in Heck) really is the cherry on top of an amazing soundtrack. And welcome to Ash, very good to have. “Civilisation” enjoyer on board.
Loving the new video format. I’ll miss Tim, but this episode was so good. I’ll continue to watch/listen! All love 🙏🏻
that's an incredible title, sounds like a fantasy spoof of Gabriel Marquez Garcia's novel.
I appreciate the message in the beginning. I too had multiple terrible things stacked on top of each other while americans decided a hellscape was an amazing place to live in. As a non-white non-straight person, it has been documented that I would not be allowed to be me if the hellscape were chosen. Ima do me anyway bitches 😈. Also, a REALLY good iconic game song is Carmine's theme "Bad Surface" in Under Night In-birth.
This has been one of my favorite podcasts for years, definitely the best video game podcast, no contest, but without Tim… man. That’s such an enormous hole to fill and I wish you guys the best in trying to do so, but I know a lot of people (myself included) got here through him… a shame it worked out that way. I believe you guys can keep going and make a good show, but without Tim it’s just not the same to me :| good luck!
I, for one, welcome our new podcast overlord
I always thought that Ash would be a perfect fit for Insert Credit as a regular. My dream did come true! 😄
Will be moving from Spotify to TH-cam due to face cams! Yay
Hope puppy cam becomes a regular feature
also i'm sorry but i gotta be that guy: Undertale came out in 2015, Jaffe! It counts!
Brandon is a standup guy and i appreciate his presence here so much.
Role model
I'm tryna be like him when i grow up
@@TsunamiSkweek No need to wait till you grow up, you can start any time
So happy Ash is joining. A great get gang!
