I bought the Lorier Neptune on your recommendation mostly because it looks so similar to the original Bond's (it looks great on the olive/black nato they sell imo). It is my first diver and I am over the moon with it. So thank you! That Squale looks very classy too, especially for my 6" wrists with those lugs. I suddenly want a second diver and it has only been a few days lol
Absolutely awesome MOD!!!! Although I’m a huge SC it’s Roger Moore for me! Live&Let Die , the theme song !!!! And of course the Submariner 5513!!! WHERE ITS BEZEL turned into the circular saw!!!!!;) Also a magnet;) superb stuff my friend !
To be totally honest, I don't think the green bezel works with the vintage dial. If that was something I'd want I'd go for the full Alpinist look with a green dial and cathedral hands.
Nice observation. I didn't quite notice that at first but after reading your comment I couldn't stop looking at the watch without thinking of your observation.
Unfortunately you're right. When the modder's attempt to weather the bezel turned it green he should tried something else instead. It's sloppy work and doesn't work as an accurate recreation on the version used on screen.
I must admit, this channel has reawakened my love of watches. I'm sure my wife wouldn't agree lol, but even my daughter has caught the bug and loves Hugo and I got her her first watch at Christmas, which is a Rose gold (plated) Pulsar as she's only 10. But she's been following me on recent buys and helped chose my new Seiko as I was torn between a few models and colours. She told the rather attentive jeweler that she herself wanted an Oris 🤣. The woman looked at me and said, daddy better get working as she knows what she wants lol.
Mannnn. You hit this one right on the dag gone nail!!! I have a 6538. Family piece but I have never worn it and never will. I would say this is the best option outside the Tudor BB58. I mean now you got me wanting to create my Sieko Mod. Spot on in this review!!👍👍👍💯
Yes, i5 is is the NH38 movement that you want. Also, you can make it a touch thinner with a thinner case back, though it will only be by a millimetre or so.
Just bought a Lorier on your recommendation ! Was amazed to find a personal response from Lauren and Lorenzo ! I did mention I purchased the watch on your recommendation - Thank you ! Would love a Squale though ... I have the Admiralty Grey NATO on the way, Thanks TGV.
Thank you for the tip of a reliable watch mod maker. Custom watches are incredible. You see customization in so many ways in terms of clothing and accessories. I love that customization in watch making is becoming mainstream.
Cool, I have an Omega automatic that looks similar to that Gruen and I wear it with my 60s tuxedo for the Bond effect. The 510 movement is very nice, overlooked by many people but vintage fans like them. Fortunately Gruen made a lot of these so parts are not difficult to find. Have fun with your new watch!
@@theurbangentry indeed, thank you. I too grew up with Moore and Connery Bonds. As an adult though, I shifted to the Le Carre brand of spy novels. More realistic, less action, but the tension is incredibly written.
i just ordered the san martin retro diver that is very similar to this one! ceramic bezel, saphire crystal, milled clasp with solid end links for 200€. can’t wait for it to arrive.
The bezel DOES look green through the lens. I like it, as it looks a moss gray-green, almost a federal, but I understand your ambivalence. The movement you want is the SII NH38, as you guessed. As I write, I am wearing a Tissell Explorer homage with that movement and I am very pleased. The Squale is a beautiful watch as well! Thanks to you and the company for sponsoring the giveaway. The debate over homages versus mods is never-ending. But we must each choose what we can accept in consonance with our values. Down with frauds, up with honest celebrations!
What a fun mod! Really like the look the maker achieved with dial and the hands but agree that a darker bezel will really complete the look. Love the engraved case back and that big crown just can’t be beaten!
Favourite bond watch is Ian Flemming's Explorer. He wrote his books while wearing it while in Jamaica, my family's country. The connection makes me smile. Runner up is the Rolex Submariner.
I've never been a huge Rolex fan. I think much of that opinion has to do with all the Rolex diver homage watches out there. It seems a bit generic now. So if I were to pick a favorite bond Rolex, and this may not count, but I would choose the Rolex explorer. The man himself, Fleming wore the classic, utilitarian field watch I could see any special operative wearing. As such I think it's the perfect Rolex for the spy trade. As always, your content is exceptional TGV. The intros alone to your videos are something to look forward to.
Your very "limited edition" timepiece looks really good. Quality workmanship! Your personal crest etched on the backside was a nice touch. The price was surprisingly very reasonable. Thanks for sharing!🐱🐉
Ken onion blur is amazing. Love how bond brought so many items to the forefront as luxurious. So many focus on his cars and weapons, but the watches are spectacular
You are correct - - The NH-38 is the movement that will eliminate the 👻 pull. I recently bought the Seiko 4R38 to put in my Zelos Swordfish II to get rid of that annoying 👻 pull of the NH35 as the dial has no day or date window.
I had a Seiko watch mod done by Lumeshot in NYC. Eric does fine work, though he doesn't offer pressure testing to proof the watch, and he just ships the watch out in a cardboard shipping box, not a flight case like this. So i'll have to now pay an extra premium for a watch case and proofing of the watch which are negatives
The SKX is a typically a thick watch. My stealth mod wears very similarly to your new Bond watch. Namoki offers a "slim" SKX caseback which should shave it down by several mm.
Dude you are hard on a knife blade😬 Love the mod on the Seiko. Late 50s - early 60s are my favorite vintage of watches. The bezel insert definitely appears green. Cool custom homage.
A Seiko with no date wow that is wonderful. My favorite Bond watch is The Seiko TV watch in Octopussy where we see Bond doing a bit camera work to make sure the watch is working!
I just bought a SEIKO SNK809 and I am so excited! It is my first automatic watch. The watch really caught my eye! my next purchase is going to be the SEIKO Flightmaster SNA411. I am really excited and I will be set for a while with the watches I have now and the other Seiko watch I am going to purchase! Thank you so much for the videos!
Daniel Craigs Planet ocean is the watch for me and happens to be the center piece of my watch collection. Great mod!!! I think this influence purchasing my Tudor Heritage Black bay.
Coincidentally I just put a red/black/grey Bond style Nato on my Citizen Nighthawk. A simple strap change really does bring new life to the hobby as all you guys say. Nice mod, love the channel TGV!
Haven’t watched the video yet. But I’m in love that’s amazing. I love the 6538. The big crown is just amazing. I was tempted to purchase the Watch Experimental Unit homage
I love 38mm watches they just seem to fit my wrist. Great fun moding watches I do it all the time, if you know how to re-lume hands you can add one grain of granulated coffee to get the desired aged lume colour Love your watch and there’s not another one in the world
Great looking watch! After your last Seiko Mod video, I ended up snagging a beauty from Superscott on eBay you had mentioned. So thanks - now I have a "Blue Submariner" Seiko Mod that I adore.
I just got back into James bond, I have a Seiko that looks like a Millsap but I got the black and gray newer style Bond native strap and I absolutely love it, and I just saw Dr No for the first time the other day and it is freaking awesome, by the way I'm 36 years old so that came out at least 36 years old so that movie came out over 30 years before I was born LOL
From my point of view it’s a very interesting way to have a unique watch but not sure if works to have kind of “looks like” or homage watch, but it really looks beautiful 🤩
I was hoping you could let me know the original Seiko you used for your customization or did that company create a whole new watch for the prices you indicated? I’m wanting to do the same because it’s just so beautiful!
Ntosnan was my favorite Bond until Craig came along. I feel like he’s the “real” Bond from the Books. So... the Omega 2531.80 was my second “good” watch purchase! SKX’s may be old technology, but I still love them!
Pretty smart! May I ask how much the work came to? Ball park is fine. I have a skx007 that could do with a little life brought back to it - edited saw the price list at the end. Cheers
I've done this a few times myself, but with Vostok Amphibias. I bought base models in the "090 case" which is a modern remake of the original 1967 design. Then it's a matter of getting some OEM parts from Vostok themselves (bezel, caseback, crown, bracelet) and some (IMO, superior) watch hands from third party suppliers. It's all good fun.
I like the idea of a homage watch, while i would be much more in favor of a Seiko Mod. Question is which is the least expensive route with the best results. The color of the bezel is not my favorite not sure what i would pick if i had the chance to do the same. Navy blue or black bezel would be considerations to bring the contrast of the numbers, hands and the overall style of the watch. Bracelet looks good and the watch looks amazing!
I do really love vintage vibe of that moded seiko. Perfect size, guilt-golded dial and aging green bezel are so astonishing...! However, little disappointed with sided-round case of seiko case. But, such a charming watch with no doubts!
A huge shout-out to Urban Gentry for guiding me to my first watch purchase, an NTH Nacken Renegade. Even sized the band with a toolkit you recommended. Of course, on to my next obsession: alternate straps! Bond strap from C&B already on its way.
This must be the most beautiful mod ever. Godly ♥♥♥
Seiko is the greatest watch brand in the world. LIKED!!
@John Smith Depends on the model. Still nowhere near what the so-called "luxury" brands think they're worth.
The Urban Gentry is hearby awarded 2 internets for cinematic use of a Lavalamp™ .

I'd have to say that my favorite Bond watch is also the Rolex 6538, just because it's been in so many of the earlier films and it's so iconic!
Just picked up the original Bond watch a few months ago: a Gruen Precision. Manual wind. It's tiny but I love it.

Agree with you about the Bezel. But that dial is killer. Very cool TGV.
Definitely, Gruen the very first watch worn by Bond and the reason I purchased a vintage Rolex built Gruen similar to Connery's.
