Hillsdale College is an independent institution of higher learning founded in 1844 by men and women “grateful to God for the inestimable blessings” resulting from civil and religious liberty and “believing that the diffusion of learning is essential to the perpetuity of these blessings.” It pursues the stated object of the founders: “to furnish all persons who wish, irrespective of nation, color, or sex, a literary, scientific, [and] theological education” outstanding among American colleges “and to combine with this such moral and social instruction as will best develop the minds and improve the hearts of its pupils.” As a nonsectarian Christian institution, Hillsdale College maintains “by precept and example” the immemorial teachings and practices of the Christian faith.

By encouraging the scholarship of its faculty, it contributes to the preservation of that legacy for future generations. By publicly defending that legacy, it enlists the aid of other friends of free civilization and thus secures the conditions of its own survival and independence.
Hanson is one of the few true intellectuals left in our country. He communicates with clarity, nuance in a straight-forward manner. Unfortunately, we don't have people like him in government.

Although he may be wrong about the Iraq War, eh is not incorrect about the deterioration and collapse of American culture, values, inner cities and list goes on. he seems to be accurate. i am a Calif native, and of the age when I remember orange groves in the suburbs of LA.
All he did was recite a textbook list of right wing talking points without offering any solutions. And he prefaced it by using half of his time to talk about a bunch of people who died hundreds of years before the invention of the light bulb.
This is very important. I once heard it said, "Those that don't know their history are doomed to repeat it". Too many Americans aren't paying attention to what's really going on. I'm a big fan of history. Please keep up the good work. Thank you.

Thank you! I only wish I had chosen Hillsdale College back when I went to college. Mine alma mater, GMU (Fairfax, VA) is now something for which I have become embarrassed and ashamed. They're no better than media outlets like, The Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC, The AP, et al.

I would agree with this. A nation is a group united by the same values, goals, and language. They should never surrender their decision making powers to an “international body.” The EU is a good example of what NOT to do and I believe that Great Britain did the right thing when they broke away.
@ Vic Wiseman - The globalists believe that nation-states are obsolete, and that the lines on maps demarcating one nation and people from another ought to be abolished. That all of the unique and distinctive things which characterize one distinct people, ethnicity, language and culture from another are impractical in today's world and therefore meaningless. This is why they have pushed the "diversity is our strength" mantra so hard. It is social engineering on a massive scale. They are acting upon their beliefs. If there is no difference between someone from Zimbabwe and someone from South Korea, then it follows from that - that borders and distinctions between people of all kinds should go by the wayside.
Historians and political scientists have long-known that there are indicators of social cohesion, things that serve as accurate predictors of how closely-bonded a people within a given society are to one another, how much they trust one another, and how well or poorly they regard one another. Ethnic, racial and cultural homogeneity are highly-predictive of high stability, high trust & cooperation, and high indices of happiness and satisfaction. And so forth. Highly-cohesive societies with a substantial degree of internal trust tend to be united and peaceful, at least insofar as people can be peaceful.
However, the globalists have taken these things and flipped them upside down. Since they wish to eradicate traditional societies, cultures and nations, they have labored long and hard to engineer disunity and chaos in the developed world, as a means of advancing their agenda. Before they can institute regional and then world government, i.e., rule by themselves over the whole planet and all of its people - they must first break down and ultimately destroy what is already here.
It's the old Hegelian dialectic: Crisis > Reaction > Synthesis or Solution. Socially-engineer crisis after crisis, cause chaos, discord and frustration, leading to violence and upheaval - and then at the right moment, step in to offer the "solution" or synthesis which ushers in world government, or something leading to it. The globalists know that as long as human societies are reasonably content and stable, then the changes they want are unlikely to be accepted, at least not willingly.... so they must fracture, fragment and otherwise tear down civilization as it is, in order to clear the way for what they want. This all sounds like a bad plot for a James Bond movie or something, but these ideas and the people who actually believe in them are very real.
The good news for humanity is that they have another thing coming, the globalists, I mean - if they think five billion or so people are simply going to do as they are told and march into slavery and poverty.

I have just finished Hillsdale's course on "american citizenship and its decline", and Dr Hanson's lecture's are very informative and insightful. I urge you all to give the course a look; for its free, and the knowledge you gain leaves you feeling thankful, privileged, and a better understanding of the mess that politicians have created in our times. Knowing is half the battle.
A personal favorite quote from Dr Hanson in one of the lectures - "Progressivism is the bastard child of Enlightenment"

One of the main reasons Henry Cabot Lodge I was against Wilson's version of a League of Nations was the thought of turning American armed soldiers over to generals, actually bureaucrats, from other countries.

I think we need to stop fighting for world peace, and simply starve out evil. As in, learn how to do everything yourself, so that you do not have to rely on the promises of others.
I'v sepnt some time thinking of this question. While studying history "can one authority rule the world?" and the answer is NO. As soon as the whole world became under one power that power would focus on or create a new enemy. Now the elites would tell you their plan is for multiple parties to cooperate, but world hegemons appear for one simple reason, hierarchies develop among allies.
People are the same in biology but different in culture. This is the never ending conflict between globalism and nationalism.

We need to aim for excellence and take pride in making the best quality and using the most advanced technology in tandem with the employment of master craftsmen. Use robotics for the grind, and artists for the fine work, and do it in self powered solar factories and workshops. Have enterprises in every small town as well as every city. We can make our own superior quality goods for ourselves.
It's not a global failing. It's a human failing. A "family" of nations will get along no better than any other family. A true global society would need a strong central government, one capable of forcing it's members to behave themselves. The young American realized this when it scrap the articles of confederation and adopted the constitution instilling a strong central government. This, too, is human nature. Every society needs a central power. The only problem is creating one that doesn't become dictatorial and authoritarian, a real problem in any institution created by and run by flawed human beings.
Bigger always lead to the worst administration. USA didn’t defeat USSR, mismanagement and nepotism did it. Nepotism is the kryptonite of Communism, because the model offer no ways to remove it. In a Democracy, you can at least change a bad administration every 4 years.
