@3:31 the guy in the top left is my elementary school science teacher, Mr. Monahan! To this day I consider him the best educators I’ve ever had. It was so nice to see his face here.
Yeah, I got one of those earlier this year and it's great! but it's a different category than "build" so I didn't include it. Definitely a solid gift option though! I have it listed on my website, just didn't feature it in this video.
The Thames & Kosmos Catapult Engineering kit looks like fun, but it also looks a lot like Lego Technic, with a way higher per-piece price. (That said, the mentioned Lego sets are quite high per piece too. Though, I think they more expect schools to buy them than individuals, so... eh.)
personally grew up on kiwi co’s tinker crates, and they were always a highlight of my month, and then when I got older I upgraded to eureka crate, and they were similarly priced. Crunch labs has hack pack but those are EXPENSIVE, so I’d say for longevity, kiwi co wins in my book
As an avid CrunchLabs Hack Pack enthusiast, as my channel name suggests, they are quite an upgrade to the Build Box with unlimited potential for exploration in the robotics world which includes aspects of Software, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering to challenge anyone who is willing to learn and develop their skills. "Hacking" them encourages creativity and perseverance as oftentimes you'll need to learn a new skill to complete the hack you envisioned. It's great for teens and adults who want to enhance their engineering knowledge and the community support is fantastic for all skill levels.
1:21 Mark Rober-esque XD for most people, this would be silly, but its true for him, he does have a unique way of explaining things, but it’s so easy to follow… Mark Rober-esque is a term I will be using from now on
I can testify with Thanes and kosmos that it's a lot like the third build box. You're given an instruction booklet that teaches you how to build several projects and teaches you along the way with supplementary reading, but there's enough parts that you can usually customize the projects or build your own device. I've gotten probably close to ten of these kits using that specific building system, and I've been able to make an unbelievable amount of stuff just by having access to a lot of parts. It's very mechanical and I mostly use it now as integrations with other systems like snap circuits to build frames for holding stuff
Have you tried out Creation Crates? They have chemistry and engineering and electronics series. Thanks for covering Mel Science. I've done a sample chemistry set but I'm curious how their physics and stem series compare to Kiwico and Crunch Labs. My kids have done tons of Kiwico, Creation Crate Chemistry, and are on year 2 of Crunch Labs. Crunch Labs is definitely their favorite. They have favorite Kiwico ones but probably half of the boxes we got over the years were duds in terms of holding their interest and using them more than one day. So now I mainly just buy single kits instead of subscriptions for Kiwico. We do get a subscription for their geography and culture that used to be called Atlas crate which is almost always great- it is a mix of art projects, recipes, crafts, games, and occasionally stem activities.
I wonder if there is an interest in one for adults. 🤔 It'd be like a physics lesson in a box and include the how (read math) something does something instead of just the why. I guess it'd be hard to set that base point of where everyone is as well as trying to balance between too hokey and too difficult.
You should look up the AP physics curriculum and TH-cam “study guides”/ tutorials if you’re interested in that kind of stuff. I’m taking the class right now and it’s literally mostly like his engineered bets but it’s for school
@ceneblock The CrunchLabs Hack Packs are definitely for adults, although the lessons are quite limited, but the potential for learning is endless in engineering fields.
If you're interested in chemistry, Creation Create Chemistry goes very in-depth about the how and why at an atomic level. They have a Physics series but I haven't bought that one yet
Spike prime user here due to my robotics club which is FLL which uses spike prime, Its Amazing but dont buy it. Its super expensive and you need a lot of existing lego technic pieces to use it to the fullest extent. Plus you need to get the Fll challege season map because you have to you cant just use a bot for misc. reasons. If ur in middle school ask about the robotics club they probably use lego spike prime
No Vsauce curiosity box?
Well it’s not really a build crate, more of a random shit that Micheal put together, that’s cool, hope this clarifies
Well that is a useless money wasting my box . It has nothing but stupid sh*tty stuff
yeah its just fun stuff box, not a kit. its like japanese food boxes but doesnt expire but you still can eat them 😋

Your missed the Curiosity Box from Vsauce😢

@@JaDroppingScience fair enough! Thats a good enough answer for me haha. Maybe a callout in the video would have been nice as well. Nice video!
this is just bro giving into his inner child
I had the MEL kit when I was younger, it was super fun, would recommend it!

Nice I should order i when I am of age or when I can afford it
I really like the eureka kiwi co crate most of the stuff is actually useful like the first thing I got was a ukulele
I anyways think it’s a bit biased becuase crunch labs is made by mark rober, a massive TH-camr. I think kiwico is best I get them myself

Super helpful. Thank you!

I used to have kiwico! I made a little ball launcher game, robot and the spinning drawing thingy

nice
Cool
I think I was the only one that noticed he wasn’t pushing the trigger on the disc launcher
i can build those boxes soooooooooooo fast
Can you do the honreble mentions one time
Nicey
Kiwi co for the W
1:50 Don’t want to be annoying, but you mixed it up - disc launcher is first

What happened to the curiosity box🤬😡🤨
Not really a build box more of random fun things micheal found for example to light year bottle
Circuit mess for robotics, electronics and programming!
