We were thinking of doing a barn door conversion but no videos anywhere on TH-cam for just the track installation. Just making barn doors for small doorways. This is a great solution and if my wife will be satisfied, I'm all for it! You saved the day!

That'll work. So you kept the pivots instead of converting to hinges. What if they were hinged on the sides and the middle. Would that work? Bi fold without the track problems.
I am trying to change one bifold door into two little French door on a small bathroom cupboard. Can’t figure out how to hinge the door on the right. Can you help? Love your videos

Can't wait to do this. Wondering how the doors are attached to the frame if at all? We took our bi-folds off a closet the kids used. They kept getting their fingers pinched. Now we are empty nesters we want to convert the bi-folds as you did. Originally the bi-folds were held in place by the track at the top and another at the bottom. I'd rather not reinstall the bottom track if possible just can't figure out how to anchor the doors so bottom isn't unstable. Hope this makes sense.
Question? Were your doors hollow? Just wondering how well the brackets held in place if you're screwing them into the door and it's not solid wood. Just wondering since my doors are hollow.

I tried this and it was a disaster. First, we have hollow doors and the braces broke out of the back the first time we tried closing them. So then we glued/screwed a rectangular piece of plywood to the back of each door which seems to have worked to keep them flat. The next problem we had was that the doors wouldn't close. They were uneven, one door hit the top of the door jamb and both doors overlapped each other. Turns out that the track couldn't support the doors as French doors as they were too heavy and the screws came lose in the track causing the doors to move out of alignment. Ended up redrilling new screw holes and using extra long, heavy duty screws to keep the track into place. We also had to readjust the pins on the top and bottom of the doors since they also came loose. Today, I installed the magnetic clips as shown in this video but the magnet isn't strong enough to keep the doors closed. They keep popping open. I want to cry. It's been one problem after another. I wish I had never even tried this project. I should have just painted the bifold doors and been done with it. I'm probably going to have to go buy a new set of doors. I really thought this would be a cheap way to update my ugly doors but instead it's going to end up costing me money. :(

I can definitely empathize as we remodeled our bathroom recently by watching TH-cam videos, and unfortunately our circumstances were much more complicated than we expected from watching the video. We had issues with ours being uneven as well, but luckily we were able to readjust them with the hardware it came with. I am truly sorry it didn't go well! :(

Ours never had a bottom track so I’m not sure how you’d accomplish it with a track!!

Marcye Brooks our doors are hollow as well!! Luckily we have not had any issues with it since installing the brackets.
Usually even in hollow doors the first few inches are wood so the frame of the door is rigid so the bracket should be in solid wood

They work great and held up so well!!! We moved recently but they were working perfectly when we sold the house.
