One of my favorite Freddy movies. In the scene where John calls her Nancy and Heather realizes she must expect to play the role of Nancy again to save her son. The way the music changes to the original Nightmare music as she says "I love you too, daddy." The way the film tone even becomes grimy like the original Nightmare on Elm street. My favorite part of the movie great writing and directing.
This is what led to Scream. The movie within a movie, self referential meta commentary, and modern take on old school slashers. The mom comment btw, was a reference to the mother from the first movie.
And not just that but the doctor at the morgue who was there to show Heather Chase's body it's the same guy who played Kenny in the first scream W. Earl Brown
Jsu Garcia (Rod from A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)) and Tuesday Knight (Kristen from A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988)) make appearances as themselves in the funeral scene. Director Wes Craven had intended to ask Johnny Depp (Glenn from the first film) as well, but he never worked up the courage to ask him. After the film's release, they ran into each other, and Craven asked Depp if he would have made an appearance in the movie; Depp said that he would have, and that Craven should have asked him.
This is my third favorite Elm Street film in the franchise. To me, this is the proper and better ending for Freddy Kreuger than the last film especially with Wes Craven in the hands of the film. He wanted a much more menacing Freddy than comical (which is what he originally wanted from the start) and he succeeded in that. I like both but this look of Freddy is pretty dope.
This movie is Heater's nightmare about returning to a role like this. Nobody died in the movie, its all an actor's nightmare. Wes sent Heather the script the night before and she fell asleep, reading it in her son's bed. This entire time, she's been dreaming. The only "real" part of the movie is when she falls out of bed at the end with the script.
In this film, Freddy is depicted much closer to what Wes Craven had originally intended for the character, much more menacing, much less comical, with an updated attire and appearance. However in 2015, before his death, he would admit he regretted changing his appearance and said: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Which was why he kept Ghostface's mask the same in every Scream movie.
"Not an earthquake during this funeral." Lmfaoooo. I was literally thinking to myself when I saw it "that shit would be hilarious if the casket fell." I'm 💀
My 2nd shout-out! ❤️ I’m glad you all enjoyed this more than Part 4, the other one I requested (which I still maintain is a fun movie). The part where they talk about mental illness being in her family (the playground scene) was really just to throw the audience off to doubt whether everything is really happening or if she’s going crazy. However, near the end when they’re in front of the house and mention her “mom” going crazy, they’re referring to her movie mom (remember her drunk ass from Part 1? lol) as the movie world is taking over the real world. Anyway, I loved your reactions, especially during the phone scene! Looking forward to more Friday the 13th reactions (Part 6 is my favorite!) and hopefully Freddy Vs. Jason in the future!
The events in this film revolve around Heather Langenkamp having a stalker. In real life, she did have a stalker, and Wes Craven got her permission to weave it into the story.
Fav Freddy movie! I love how meta it is with Freddy coming for the cast! Very different take & Heather Lagenkamp gives a career best performance in this imo
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall reading somewhere that the way Freddy was portrayed in this film was how Wes Craven originally wanted him to be more like: less comical, more intimidating and deadpan scary. Iirc, he reportedly didn't really like how flamboyant he got in the later sequels, even if it did become a staple to his character. I didn't mind his more dark comedic and flamboyant self in the sequels, but I also like this darker portrayal of him too :). This one was my favorite of them all but I also loved Dream Warriors and of course the origjnal film is a classic!
Wes craven was such a genius. he made them best disturbing horror movies. the last house on the left, the hills have eyes, nightmare and scream rip to the goat. one of the founding father's of modern horror.
Always liked the idea that they made up Freddy for the movies. Then the whole cast starts having nightmares from it. Making a real life version of freddy who is a lil more disturbing. Kinda like playing with fire and getting burnt.
Here is Freddy’s backstory. Freddy was janitor at a power plant in a boiler room. He was killing children in Springwood, OH. When he was arrested, someone didn't sign the search warrant in the appropriate place, which was the reason he was let go and he was free. He nickname was the Springwood Slasher. In 1968 after he was free, the parents of Springwood formed a mob chased him down to his boiler room and they burned him to his death. 1981, Freddy came back and haunted kids in their dreams and kill them.
This is a very meta horror film that fans and critics love very much, despite not making a profit at the box office, it's still a pretty impressive film.
Sorry for all the comments but interesting fact, the nurse at 20:55 is the same actress who played Nancy’s teacher in Nightmare 1 who told her she needs a hall pass
This one is my favorite in the franchise & Freddy looked more darker & scarier in this one & loved that the original cast was back playing themselves especially Heather Langenkamp she's awesome....Love u ladies reaction & I laughed when ya both screamed when Heather answered her phone & Freddy's tongue came out lol ya ladies rock God bless ya both. Great reactions girls. The phone ☎️ tongue 👅 scene had you both jumping lol haha. This is my third favourite after 1 and 3 dream warriors. I think it was bold and didn’t go the same route as the others did by having a group of teenagers being hunted by Freddy and having a hero kill him all over again. It was getting tired. This really freshened up the series and was very inventive having Freddy cross over into the real world. Great idea.
The funny thing to me about this movie was it was ahead of it’s time. It has become a classic as the years went on and scream was a big success I feel in part since this movie got people to be more open minded. Sad part is it didn’t do well financially at the box office. Also I wonder if it was because audiences wanted Freddy vs Jason instead because of events in final Friday.
I'll make sure I'll pinpoint all the cameos for at the funeral. The person that you was asking about was Rod... I know majority of the OG NOES and Tuesday Knight (new Kristen) was definitely a part of this funeral.
😳 did I just hear my name?! 😱 momma I made it! 🤣 thank you guys you are all amazing… and if it was a different Steven… my bad hahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣 so what I loved about this film compared to the series is that I feel it could be a sequel to the original or even the second one. Also the mind trip that they blended both world into one film. Also the comment from the actor who played Nancy’s dad when he said “don’t start going crazy like your mom”, that I believe was supposed to be a transition from reality to film characters because the mom went crazy in the first one denying that the murders were going on then she ended up dying. As always great reaction, now I’m trying to think of another film series for you guys to react to. 🤔 Thanks again.
Ok just finished and can not wait for you guys to watch Freddy vs Jason, in fact just skip all the Jason movies lmao or watch them after. No but this movie is supposed to be Meta like Scream. It’s the “real world” and the entity of Freddy from the movies came to life and went after the cast. When John (her dad) said don’t go crazy like your mother, he was referring to “Nancy’s” mother as in from the first movie not Heather’s because he wasn’t himself at that moment but rather Nancy’s dad which is why he was calling her by her character’s name and driving his cop car because he was technically his character again.
My favorite nightmare on elm street movie. I remember my dad and me watching it while everyone was sleeping. It was a school night but it was worth it lol
@@SomethingCinema I'm a Freddy fanatic I was 5 when the first movie came out and I have been hooked! It goes deeper than that but yeah NOES is my alternate reality lmao
When he said “don’t go crazy like your mama” was when they were transitioning into their Nightmare on Elm Street characters. Remember her mom was cray cray? Lol
26:22 the nurse with the blonde hair is so pretty I just hope she is aware of how beautiful she is I would really love to see her smile and hear her laugh.
When this movie first came out it threw me off because I didn't know what to expect but it grew on me over the years I'm anticipating the moment when you guys get to the new blood you guys going to have a lot of fun with that one
YES!!! y'all finally reacted to this. I actually thought this movie was enjoyable and probably my favorite version of Freddy. Can't wait for you guys to react to Freddy Vs. Jason.
You guys are awesome! May i suggest having your guys’ camera portion a little smaller. Perhaps just a square instead of the larger rectangular. It’s a bit big. Covers about 40% of the screen.
14:23 that's the actor that played Rod. Tina's boyfriend in the first movie who got hung in jail by a bedsheet. That scene had a handful of actors from previous movies.
This movie is very much a comment on violence in entertainment, using the film Elm Street as the 'violent movie' and the demon version of Freddy is like evil in the world (how the most evil is in society, not on film). The movie was actually about some real things (Heather did have a problem with a crazed fan, she has a kid, her husband is a special FX guy). The film features has many cameos (in the cemetery scene you could see Rod from the first movie and Kristen from the 4th movie). One of the nurses is played by the teacher from the first etc. New Nightmare is sometimes summarized as “the horror movie about the making of the horror movie that you’re watching.
Right! But that’s strange that the parents are upstairs and he’s down there with all that access lol. When he’s a teenager he gone be able to sneak easy af lol
This one has all the original actors from the first Nightmare on Elm Street exept for Johnny boy. Heather, the actress of Tina who gets killed in the same way her character did,Robert as himself and Freddy boy,the actor of Nancy's father, the actor of Tina's boyfriend, the actress of Nancy's teacher who told her to relax when she woke up screaming in the classroom (I love that actress by the way she plays Elise the psychic in the Insidious movies) and of course it has Wes Craven himself R.I.P. Any way I liked how they did the movie in a movie concept, something Wes loved to do including what he did in the Scream movies as well. When she acceps the role of Nancy again I was a bit confused but also into it as well...she had to face Freddy one last time to save her son.
@@SomethingCinema Ya it made for an interesting story and Freddy looks good too. I do love the actor of her son but I think he's stopping acting now which is a shame really cause he was really good in every show and movie he acted in.
@@SomethingCinema Yes it was from all of them though I can imagine it must have been funny for Robert to play himself and Freddy and act like he's scared of him as well.
I hit like on this so fast, and I won’t watch the reaction until later this evening! 😂😂😂. My second favorite in the franchise. What’s great about New Nightmare is that you can basically go from A Nightmare on Elm Street to this one without missing a best. It makes all sequels in between pretty much irrelevant, which a lot of people don’t mind since they weren’t as good in comparison. Which is also why everyone said to skip to this one. The acting, storyline, returning cast and all of the Easter eggs throughout New Nightmare are golden! This also was the beginning of the when horror meets reality theme that so many other movies (like Scream) followed later. Love you guys! 💕
Good shout out to me. Can't wait for your reaction to A nightmare on elm street 2010 version. Wes Craven's New Nightmare is good and one of the top 3 Freddy Krueger movies.
How did y'all like the movie? This was a great temporary ending to the Freddy series. I can't wait til y'all get to Freddy vs Jason. That was the first Freddy movie I saw.
It’s a deep logical film… “Wes” concept literally was, what if freddy came to the real world and haunted the films actors….that’s mostly how you gotta take it….you even see at the funeral nightmare stars “ Tuesday knight/ Kristen from nightmare 4, Nick Corey/Rod from nightmare 1” and “Wes” was gonna get “Johnny Depp” to return but at the time he already Blew up into a big star so Wes said he was to afraid to ask him…then later on “Johnny” said he would have definitely came back if “Wes” asked him to 😂….what a missed opportunity
@@SomethingCinema if you guys want a chance on your own time it had a very good doc doing interviews and making of each film….from nightmare 1 to freddy vs jason….I don’t usually watch documentaries but the one they did for the nightmare one was top class here the trailer from when it released in 2009 th-cam.com/video/EIPMx9ZrIoU/w-d-xo.html
Fun Fact: The kid in this is actually my cousin Miko Hughes.. Great actor.. especially his child roles!! Ever see Pet Sematary? If not.. You should check that one out! He does a great job playing creepy at 22 months old!! In that movie.. all they had to do was bribe him with McDonalds to do some great scenes!! True facts right there!! lol
"Throw the kid away" LOL 😂😂 I would love my kid but I don't know I thought this one was okay I thought it was the best one since part 3 which is my favorite I did appreciate they tried to do something different like Friday the 13th part 5 enjoyed the reaction
The part in the movie about Heather having a stalker. That part was real she told Wes Craven about it he was one that made creepy phone calls. But she had no idea he put it in the movie script until she read it. Freddy Krueger having a coat now made him more accurate to a homeless person. That inspired Freddy Krueger that scared Wes Craven as a child. When it comes to Freddy Krueger's look. The first - 6 he was supposed to be a burn victim so they went. For a human burn victim look but in this movie. Freddy Krueger is a actual demon so they went to make him look. More demon that's why his skin looks more scaly an less burn. Because this is a demon Freddy not a burn victim Freddy.
@@TorreanoLamont That can be said for any horror movie. I mean there was a Scream inspired murderer as well so it's not just an 80s thing. Because any person that's not quite well in the head can see something in a movie or TV show and try to reproduce it sadly to say.
Nightmare on Elm Street is definitely one of my favorite 80s horror franchises; I remember going to see this in the movie theater when I was 12. Loved it, even though most of the rest of the audience didn't, lol. Btw guys, to help them with the algorithm: watch the video all the way through, don't FF, like, comment, share, and subscribe. Hope y'all any of them you decide to check out. {My bad with the first three movie suggestions, I've been suggesting to white creators the last couple weeks and they usually don't know them so they popped in my head first, lol.}

Although, I thought I had subbed to y'all months ago through the app on PS but for some reason didn't carry over... weird. Oh, btw, a warning: If y'all do check out Midsommar, it'll be a rough one, it's probably the only one on there you might legit find scary. Donna & Dallas be warned... it's a bit intense. It's been called the epic break-up movie.
If you’re still kinda confused, this is a meta movie. Where all the movies were just that, movies. They weren’t real. And the Freddy is not like Robert doing this, or Wes. It’s actually some sort of demonic evil entity taking the appearance of Freddy. And the actors, are playing themselves basically.
One of my favorites. There aren't many horror movies like this one. I LOVE the Freddy universe, but being real about it, Nightmare 2-6 just got worse and worse with 5 & 6 just being plain boring.
Ironic how people hated the last one but it did better, box office wise. But people loved this one and this one had the lowest box office in the series lol. Like I said, I did enjoy this one because as you can see Freddy was still creative and his makeup design was incredible. However I would still grade this as my least favorite of the series. Only because I felt with this one, they were ripping off Scream in a way with the whole character becomes a movie etc. Granted, I know that both movies are written by Wes Craven (rip) but to me in my opinion, I felt like they were getting carried away with the mimic of Scream, even though this movie came out before Scream. So I guess you can say that this film was sorta responsible for Scream success. If I had to guess why this one wasn't a box office hit, it was because it wasn't what majority of fans were expecting. Around this time, when fans were saying "We Wanted Freddy back" they were probably hoping for an continuation after part 6 type of thing. And I'm one of those fans, im not saying this is the worst Freddy movie but this is my least favorite, even though I still like it. I still prefer part 6 over this one, people can't say what they want about part 6, but numbers don't lie, and it had to be a reason why this one flopped.
This was released in ‘94. It was critically acclaimed and praised by critics but didn’t perform well. It wasn’t until years later that fans started to appreciate the movie.
@@jaysworldd1*late comment* but exactly. When this came out, it crashed box office because it wasn't what fans were expected or wanted. They wanted the story to continue after Freddy's Dead but wanted Wes to go back to his roots in being frightened, yet still being comical at the same time. For Freddy's Dead was criticized for being to funny but it was acceptable cause it works for his character. Also, not to mention they went that direction, not just because they thought it was the proper sendoff for the finale, and that was their way of telling the fans thank you for giving Freddy so much popularity, and just wanted to have fun with this but a lot more kids was watching his movies and they wanted to be somewhat careful and mix things up. That's why they added video games, looney tunes and Wizard Of Oz humor. They even acknowledged that in New Nightmare, his kids fan base. As a kid I loved Freddy's Dead but the 1st one terrified me and it took me a minute to watch and get used to it because I wasn't used to seeing Freddy that scary. It makes sense now

This is what led to Scream. The movie within a movie, self referential meta commentary, and modern take on old school slashers. The mom comment btw, was a reference to the mother from the first movie.
We have to really appreciate scream more after this movie
And not just that but the doctor at the morgue who was there to show Heather Chase's body it's the same guy who played Kenny in the first scream W. Earl Brown

I think this is a good movie and the most unique since this is when Wes eventually perfected his meta horror with Scream

Y’all gotta do the remake noww lmao anyways thx for cheering me up, i’m sick rn and you guys make me feel better :)
Get better soon... we love you
@@SomethingCinema you too guys!
YES!!! y'all finally reacted to this. I actually thought this movie was enjoyable and probably my favorite version of Freddy. Can't wait for you guys to react to Freddy Vs. Jason.
We can't wait for that too
This is one of my favorite freddy movies! Thank you for reacting to this classic! ❤
Thank you for watching it with us
@@SomethingCinema No prob. I love this movie ❤
💛💚💙❤️
This is a damn good movie. Heather kills it in everyone of them!
She sure does
love this one great reaction!
Thank you
26:21 when that blonde nurse walked over i was head over hells.
💯
14:25 that’s Rod from Nightmare 1, the Kristen replacement from Nightmare 4 can also been seen in the crowd.
Oh that's really cool
You guys are awesome! May i suggest having your guys’ camera portion a little smaller. Perhaps just a square instead of the larger rectangular. It’s a bit big. Covers about 40% of the screen.
We can try but it’s like that because we don’t want to get flagged for copyright
The look for Freddy in this film was pretty creepy.
The poster for it on the tv was so creepy we couldn’t just have it sitting there until we turned it on lol
The screams at the tongue scenes 🤣🤣💀
Lol
14:23 that's the actor that played Rod. Tina's boyfriend in the first movie who got hung in jail by a bedsheet.
That scene had a handful of actors from previous movies.
🔥🔥
🤔🤔
I’ve never been more jealous of a kids room than in this movie. Dude got a whole pool out back of his window.
That was a good concept!
@@SomethingCinema Ya it made for an interesting story and Freddy looks good too. I do love the actor of her son but I think he's stopping acting now which is a shame really cause he was really good in every show and movie he acted in.
The acting was really good
@@SomethingCinema Yes it was from all of them though I can imagine it must have been funny for Robert to play himself and Freddy and act like he's scared of him as well.
😂 that is funny 😂
Thank you...we love you too
Good shout out to me. Can't wait for your reaction to A nightmare on elm street 2010 version. Wes Craven's New Nightmare is good and one of the top 3 Freddy Krueger movies.
We really like this movie
@@SomethingCinema awesome
💛💚💙❤️
How did y'all like the movie? This was a great temporary ending to the Freddy series. I can't wait til y'all get to Freddy vs Jason. That was the first Freddy movie I saw.
We can't wait to watch that movie
Best reactions - Nightmare 1 & New Nightmare and maybe 2. Wes Craven is the true horror and dream master.
Those movies are really good
It’s a deep logical film… “Wes” concept literally was, what if freddy came to the real world and haunted the films actors….that’s mostly how you gotta take it….you even see at the funeral nightmare stars “ Tuesday knight/ Kristen from nightmare 4, Nick Corey/Rod from nightmare 1” and “Wes” was gonna get “Johnny Depp” to return but at the time he already Blew up into a big star so Wes said he was to afraid to ask him…then later on “Johnny” said he would have definitely came back if “Wes” asked him to 😂….what a missed opportunity
You know what that's a good point the concept is basically that
@@SomethingCinema if you guys want a chance on your own time it had a very good doc doing interviews and making of each film….from nightmare 1 to freddy vs jason….I don’t usually watch documentaries but the one they did for the nightmare one was top class here the trailer from when it released in 2009 th-cam.com/video/EIPMx9ZrIoU/w-d-xo.html
We will check it out
26:21 the nurse with the blonde hair is so very beautiful.
💯
Fun Fact: The kid in this is actually my cousin Miko Hughes.. Great actor.. especially his child roles!! Ever see Pet Sematary? If not.. You should check that one out! He does a great job playing creepy at 22 months old!! In that movie.. all they had to do was bribe him with McDonalds to do some great scenes!! True facts right there!! lol
Great fun fact!!
@@SomethingCinema Glad you enjoyed! :) I still tease him about McDonalds.. he hates it!! LMFAO
🤣🤣🤣
Kindergarten Cop
🤣🤣
Freddy is a evil clown that would put a smile on your face 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
This one is definitely one of the better Nightmare sequels and a favourite. 👻
Yes it is
"Throw the kid away" LOL 😂😂 I would love my kid but I don't know I thought this one was okay I thought it was the best one since part 3 which is my favorite I did appreciate they tried to do something different like Friday the 13th part 5 enjoyed the reaction
😂😂... Yeah we like that it was different
Someone else said that too... that's scary
The '80s was a crazy time... The lead actresses for Friday the 13th Part 1 and 2 suffered from that
I was also told that Nightmare On Elm Street and Friday the 13th inspired several murders.
@@TorreanoLamont That can be said for any horror movie. I mean there was a Scream inspired murderer as well so it's not just an 80s thing. Because any person that's not quite well in the head can see something in a movie or TV show and try to reproduce it sadly to say.
Damn
Nightmare on Elm Street is definitely one of my favorite 80s horror franchises; I remember going to see this in the movie theater when I was 12. Loved it, even though most of the rest of the audience didn't, lol. Btw guys, to help them with the algorithm: watch the video all the way through, don't FF, like, comment, share, and subscribe.
Since there's low comments, gotta throw out some ofmy suggestions, lol: (some horror, some fantasy, some horror/comedy, & a lil cheesy horror)

*Archer
We seen some of those but we will add the rest
@@SomethingCinema Some of the movies are a lil goofy and more for if y'all can actually enjoy like them cheesy B rated ones. Just hit up the plots on the ones you don't know, to see if y'all might like it. Hope y'all any of them you decide to check out. {My bad with the first three movie suggestions, I've been suggesting to white creators the last couple weeks and they usually don't know them so they popped in my head first, lol.}
🤣🤣 we will try to check all of them out
@@SomethingCinema lol not tryna overwork y'all three. Even if you can check out 1 eventually, it's cool. You've got thousands of people making requests of y'all lol.
Lol thanks for the heads up
I think this is the second best sequence of the series.
This one was good!
27:28 the nurse with the blonde hair is beautiful.
🔥🔥
27:28 the nurse with the blonde hair is beautiful look at her face and hair.
😂😂
If you’re still kinda confused, this is a meta movie. Where all the movies were just that, movies. They weren’t real. And the Freddy is not like Robert doing this, or Wes. It’s actually some sort of demonic evil entity taking the appearance of Freddy. And the actors, are playing themselves basically.
🔥🔥
Y’all should do the pumpkin karver 2006 it’s a horror movie. I highly recommend it to see if y’all fw it or not
We will add it to the list
Great Reaction this one of my favorite freddy movies!!! I would like to see you guys react to The Night House
Ok! Will add it to the list!
One of my favorites. There aren't many horror movies like this one. I LOVE the Freddy universe, but being real about it, Nightmare 2-6 just got worse and worse with 5 & 6 just being plain boring.
A lot of people said that too
1, 3 and this one is my favorite
🔥🔥
Yall should definitely react to wrong turn 2 dead end trust me it’s amazing aswell
We will watch it
Love the vids guys keep it up
Thanks Shannon!
The sister made me laugh when she said freddy good with that tongue girl 😂😂😂
Lol
Your kid is growing up so fast. Still adorable!
He is so big
If you guys liked wrong turn, you should check out wrong turn 2 dead end! Both are good but this one has a much different vibe than the first

@@SomethingCinema very solid & entertaining sequel! & Thank you for responding ❤️❤️ love your guys’ reactions!
Hello! I wonder if New Nightmare inspired Wes Craven to do Scream, which is also a meta film.
It did apparently
@@SomethingCinema By the way, are you gonna react to Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives?

Brb. I'm going to take that phone with the tongue and put it somewhere... useful... 😆
😂😂
A superb movie. Meta horror before Scream a couple of years later.
That's exactly what it reminded us of
Ironic how people hated the last one but it did better, box office wise.
We thought this was a total reboot when we were about to watch it, but now can understand how and why it was made in the same franchise.
We can see why!
It makes sense now
You guys should to react to Wes Cravens first movie Last House on The Left 1972
Adding it to the list
