We are looking for our first right now. We see vans we like and they are sticking, we've made offers of 10% lower but the owners are not reducing, they just sit for months. I think it'll take a big dealer to go "pop" to get some realism into the market where there are far more motorhomes than buyers right now. Well probably sit it out until winter, watching, along with many others....
I’d be sweating if I had all that stock on what is probably a revolving finance credit loan. The interest must be phenomenal and monthly payments will be eye watering. At a conservative £60k average there’s conservatively £10 m there. I looked at motor homes or converted vans but at £70k + for a decent one, I spent half that on a really nice car and the balance will pay for hotels for many years to come.
Wow that’s a lot of stock! Not seen anything like that for years. Surely they’ve got a serious problem on their hands shifting all of that. Great video, enjoyed the tour around
Just catching up Rick and Heather. Fascinating to look around - we went around a year ago. Great that Brownhills do the shop discount and the free bacon sandwich! Seems that new vans and motorhomes have exploded (supply improved) but second hand vans (not motorhomes) still like hen’s teeth. Seems like we bought at the price peak 🤦🏻♂️ but we wanted to get out on the road so badly. Crazy, crazy amount of new vans there! Prices may well have to reduce substantially!
Wouldn't be at all surprised that most of them van were ordered at least two years ago when everything was flying out the door. Unfortunately, people are back to flying away on their holidays and selling their used vans, and people not buying new. More dealers will fold
There’s more vans than pre-pandemic times and its great to see the prices coming down, all be it looks like Brownhills hadn’t heard given the stock levels 😂 (good olde supply and demand) great if you’re looking to buy, clearly not good if you’re looking to sell. Great they are giving food and discount! Cant complain about that! Least the CVs are down to 60’s and not 80s now! Loads about now, remember when they were like Rocking horse 💩 New / Used vans coming down in price too. Can’t believe how many vans they have … not good news for 6-12m time though if they don’t shift it. Have a great weekend, all the best, David & Rachel 👍
I had a coachbuilt CI 5 berth motorhome 20 years ago. Paid £12500 for when it was 6 years old. That is what made these viable to the average person. The attraction then was a cost effective adventure. Majority of the 3 years I owned mine was spent on my drive or in a muddy field in summer. Trouble is now... They want hotel rates to park in a muddy field for the night. Except for a few die hards this industry is surely dead in the water. I mean 60k...for a basic camper.. its just a van.
Interesting video , I watched a dealers Video taking about the market changes and the large existence of unsold stock, even more so with caravans to the point that this dealer had decided not to order any new vans for 2025 preferring to sell the unsold stock first . What this space I think . Thanks for an interesting video H and M
Hi Rick and heather a great video as ever and comes to something now the stock is there dealers seem to be having a hard time of it broad lane has gone bust now I wonder if this will cause the prices to go down could be after effects of Covid and supply problems and the artificial demand created as you say hope you are both well Daniel
There’s a lot of unsold stock on dealers forecourts at the minute. Across the country confidence in the economy is at an all time low, inflation is spiralling upwards seemingly unchecked and interest rates are still high. The Conservative government has us paying the highest tax rates ever and labour are staggering into government like a new born giraffe. Prices of motorhomes have rocketed in recent years with £60k buying a budget entry level Van if your lucky, used prices too are bonkers since the pandemic. Mid lockdown in 2020, I sold a 2011 van for the same money I bought it for new. I couldn’t believe my luck as I moved quickly to bolster my stock & shares portfolio which is stashed for the future. If and when prices ease a little I might consider another van, however until sense prevails I’ll keep my pennies invested. Good luck to all buyers!
Bubble has burst 😮, just look at how many dealer's are struggling, Broadlane leisure was the latest to go bust only this week, such a shame as they were great to deal with 😢
Great video, maybe Elddis need to hone down on Evolution CV's quantity so much, and focus more on basic quality first. Fit and finish when you own one leaves a bitter taste, workmanship and quality control just not good enough.
Maybe they have taken a load of the stock from Broadlane who have just gone bust . Administrators for Broadlane stated the excess stock was their downfall .
@@RickandHeather for an extra £40 you can stay in a B&B which includes a full English breakfast. I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would want to sleep in a vehicle. The annual cost alone is considerable compared to running a car. Fuel costs, annual habitation checks, MOT, annual service, vehicle Insurance, internet, storage fees and £30 plus a day camp site fees.
@@stevenhull5025 we can’t understand why people have kids,or watch football, or have a 50k car to go to work and the shops…. We’re all different, the van is our hobby, our passion and we love it.
Listening to a guy on TH-cam yesterday. He was saying. to become a dealer. You have to commit to buying so many per yr. Which probably what's happened to Brownhills He was saying some dealers are knocking £6000 off. I would estimate everyone who's bought one over say last 2yrd.. Are goi g to lose out considerably when next wanting to change
Perhaps pre-ordered stock has now come through. Fiat’s new base vehicle is also available now so maybe buyers are waiting for that. Or, perhaps you are correct and the bottom has fallen out of the market, but can I have first refusal on your Apollo when you change to an ‘A’ class (if I live that long)!🤣
@@RickandHeather we have a 30 year old rust bucket we bought for 5,000 pounds 9 years ago. I have an offer on the table as a restoration project. Will be looking for another motorhome at some point but it will have to come in at alot less than these bad boys xx
motorhomes are stupid prices now, a lot of van lifers and leisure campers are now buying 2nd hand panel vans and converting themselves for literally 2 thirds of the price,in the next 10 years there isn't going to be any well off pensioners either ,most will be retiring later with much smaller pension pots,if you buy one of those expensive ones be prepared to lose a lot of money.
Rick. Have you heard that Broadlane leisure have gone bust. As you've mentioned Brownhills have got an enormous stock of vans. Dealers are giving big discounts as market has dropped enormously Hope Brownhills don't go the same way
YES , finally THE BUBBLE HAS BURST , said it all along , its a van , OVERPRICED ridiculous prices for a VAN . Believe it or not , there's things called HOTELS , cheaper & hot & cold running water . Probably worth HALF what greedy dealers charge . Save your money people . They will drop in price .

Has the number of retiring none vat registered builders reduced or has the need to sleep whilst carrying plasterboard gone down in vans 😂😂😂 Just our satirical observation Rick ❤
Nice tour. So many vans. Prices must come down soon surely.
Hopefully with everything including sites and day to day stuff too!
About time sensible prices prevail!!!
Have to agree though certainly campsites need to start charging less

Wow, all those CVs. Like you, I remember the time when you couldn't get hold of them!. We went from a CV40 to the Swift which we have now. 👍
Yeah only 12 months ago there was nothing about for sale!
