That's Re-commissioning Phil, Not Retro-commissioning. Great series of videos. Retro-Cx is for a Building that was never commissioned. Speaking of optimization, I see a lot of controls techs shying away from cooling tower condenser water reset, or cooling tower relief as well as overall plant efficiency tracking for resets. A DDC system should look at the entire plant KW (CT fans, CW/CHW pumps, chillers amp draw, etc.) to stage chillers and reset chilled water temperature and condenser water temperature for optimization. Can we speak of "predictive optimization"? i.e. looking at an entire year trend data and establish a building load profile, then through AFDD (Automatic Fault Detection and Diagnostics) and trending data issue alarm if Amp (or KW demand) is above the "expected load" by a certain threshold.

I think techs shy away due to not truly understanding how a plant works beyond what they are supposed to program.
